Thomas takes off through the corridor and into the burial chamber, coming face to face with the remains of the creature that has been stalking you. With the benefit of candlelight, you now see the Abomination, slumped against the sarcophagus, a huge muscular man draped in decaying linen. Its skin is slick with pus and bile, pouring from open sores, especially from a hole in its chest where the heart should be. Its head is that of a large African Golden Wolf. It sits unmoving, eyes closed, but all the same, the thing is terrifying.
OOC:
Sanity checks please! (0/1d4, reduced as it's unmoving)

Thomas sees the figure laying across the sarcophogus. It's ghastly. He's seen many horrible things done to a person's body, but this creature is unlike anything he's seen before. He nearly trips as he tries to stay as far away from the creature as he can, but recovers quickly.

His training kicks in and he puts his head down and continues to make a mad dash for the entrance. He can feel the stick of dynamite and the matches crashing into his leg through the fabric of his pocket as he pistons his legs in a way he hasn't in years. He hopes he can make it there in time.
OOC:
I have removed 1 sanity from Thomas, bringing him to 45.

Eugen follows the others. As they get into the burial chamber again, he passes the thing ...
OOC:
Leaving further reaction out until I have rolled. Honestly, I don't think, Eugen will make it ...

Awesome, so we get to see Indefinite Insanity played out.

So, when a character loses 1/5 of their current sanity in a single day, Indefinite Insanity kicks in. Unlike Temp Insanity (for losing 5 points in one hit), Indefinite Insanity goes straight into a Bout of Madness. I'd like you to roll 2d10, one for your reaction and one for the number of rounds the Bout lasts for.

Roll for reaction:
Reaction and Number of Rounds.

Eugen faints for 10 rounds!

Give me another 1d10 for underlying insanity

... and he can't just look away. The light from his candle shows the creature.
Eugen immediately feels dizzy. All the blood rushes from his head into his guts. His feet feel like rubber bands and he loses consciousness.

The candle drops to the floor.

Robert was unable to focus for a brief moment, but Thomas's warning brought him back to reality. He almost tripped from the rushing and shaking legs, but he managed to drag him to the other room. In the other room, he came face to face with the putrid horror of a corpse and gasped in shock. "What in the name of the Lord is that Thing!"

Realization and adrenaline kicked in when he saw Eugen faint and fall. Rushing onward, he tried to catch him and lift him up, hoping he would be able to drag him out as everything started collapsing. He shouted out to Lady Bishop, "M'Lady, take the candle and come quickly."

Eugen is no bigger than Robert, so the Doctor doesn't have trouble catching him and can at least drag him along, just not carry him outright.

Lady Bishop screams a little as she hears the howl and then sees dust fall from the ceiling. She prays it is just the reverberations and not something else being portended. She dashes after the others, but freezes upon seeing the horrible abomination that had been menacing them. Suddenly, she hears a thud and sees Eugen faint upon the sight, catching the candle before it flickers out with her gloved hand. She nods at Dr. Whittaker's words and takes up Eugen's other side, helping Robert drag the man out.

Taking Eugen's other arm, Clara helps pull the Archaeologist along, following after Thomas.

Dust and small stones continue to fall from above throughout the complex. Soon enough you arrive at the antechamber, the place is littered with detritus, treasures thrown about by the creature in its search for you.
Mar 18, 2025 3:19 am
Thomas scrambles through the antechamber, diving for the crawlspace to the entrance. He army crawls his way through.

"Stay here," he calls over his shoulder loud enough to be heard over the rumbling above them.
"I'm going to set the dynamite and run back. Get against the wall near the crawl space here. Cover your ears and close your eyes!"

As soon as he's able he stands and runs to the entrance, pulling the matches, and candle stub out. He strikes the match to light the candle and sets it so he can see the inspect that is blocking their escape.
OOC:
Oh. That's bad. How do I push rolls and what are the consequences involved with that? Can I spend Luck on a pushed roll?

Mechanical Repair vs 40 - (1d100)

A failed push results in something bad and you cannot use Luck on it.

Does the assistant need to use the relevant skill?
Mar 18, 2025 12:49 pm
OOC:
No, it’s like when you have someone to bounce ideas off, or an extra pair of hands, so in most cases skills you can do this for a bonus die.
OOC:
For context, this was part of the private message for everyone else

" you can call an assistant to help and I'll give you a bonus die against the original roll, so a D10 that will potentially replace that 8."
Mar 18, 2025 7:42 pm
OOC:

Eugen's mind is in the neverwhere. Entities made of tendrils with animal heads pound images of non-Euclidean pyramids and temples into his head. The tendrils dance in the rhythm of a gigantic heart-beat.
Mar 18, 2025 8:31 pm
OOC:
Does Robert need to have the skill or just helping Thomas will give him the bonus?
Mar 18, 2025 8:52 pm
OOC:
Clara has 10% in mechanical repair if the skill is required.
Mar 18, 2025 10:04 pm
OOC:
No, whoever he calls is just lending a hand, no skill needed

"I could use a little help in here," Thomas yells above the sound of shifting rock and falling sand.
"It's a bit tricky holding the candle and trying to set the charge."
