Blood spatters onto Elma's face and she flinches a little, but then her face just gets more feral and she lunges forward once again to try and finish off the monster.
OOC:
Dang, lots of fumbles and low damage on both sides!

My apologies for making you all wait this long. It's been a busy week. I should have more time again starting Monday. But here is a post to get this game going again. Thanks for sticking with me!

@Drgwen If I'm not mistaken, then you go to 0HP before the regeneration kicks in which means you become "Broken" and have to roll a d4 on this table to see how bad it is.
[ +- ] Broken table
The monster's claw crashes into the lizard's spine and the bones pierce its skin something fierce. Jotna just barely manages to crawl backwards, possibly on her last breath.

The others try to help, but Borda is unlucky again as his dagger hits a part of the monster that acts as a chitinous shield, made from keratin like a turtle's shell. The dagger's blade snaps from the impact and he's left holding a hilt.

On the other side of the beast, Merkari manages to swing her flail successfully and causes some real damage. Enough for the creature to slump down and turn back into inanimate rotting meat.

Elma is left standing there, mid swing with blood dripping down her face. Luckily it's not hers.

Silence returns to the room. An eerie quiet in this gloomy kitchen. The voice that Jotna and Merkari heard seems to have departed. Over on the far side of the room, you notice an open door with stairs heading up. Besides going back up the dumb waiter chute, that seems to be the only way out.

What would you like to do next?

Sorry I misunderstood that! I'll use an Omen to reroll that Dodge... Useless. Typical. OK here's a d4 and a d6. So for several rounds I am immured with fewer HP. But I have the ability to Regenerate? How does this work?

Rolls

Dodge - (1d20)

(3) = 3

I dunno - (1d4)

(2) = 2

injury - (1d6)

(1) = 1

Looks like you break a limb with your 1 on the d6. You can choose which one. The d4 rounds don't really matter since combat is over now. So you can just act normally. But to still give you a bit of a consequence, I'm going to say that your lizard regeneration cannot regrow bones. You'll have to find another way to fix it. (Feel free to get creative :D )

STR and AGI tests involving the broken limb will be DR+2.

Sound fair?

Works for me! One more question: I have a Health Elixir that heals 1d6. Could that mend bone?
Jotna grunts in lizard form, then transforms back into a naked human woman with a broken left arm. She holds it gently. She carefully removes the unbreakable bar she got from the weird merchant when they first entered the mansion and tears strips of her clothing, or perhaps cuts a few feet of her rope, and fashions a splint. Then she digs out her health elixir and considers whether it might help as well. She shrugs and drinks it!

Rolls

Health elixir - (1d6)

(3) = 3

OOC:
Sure, I'll allow it with the elixer. It can mend the bone instead of the 1d6 HP :)
Jun 7, 2025 11:30 am
Though the wound to flesh and muscle had healed as a lizard, the woman cradled her intact but broken arm gingerly. As she gulped down the elixir, though, visible relief spread across her face and her body relaxed. She stretched out her arm and shook her head and glanced at the pile of rotten meat that had injured her, and said, "Worst meal ever."

She dressed, picked up her things, and was ready to keep going. She began by searching the kitchen area.
Jun 7, 2025 1:19 pm
Elma unceremoniously wipes the blood off her face and puts away the dagger, taking out the oil lamp once again. She gapes as she sees poor Jotna's left arm swinging the wrong way and is even more amazed as the elixir appears to set the bone back right away!

"I-I guess that imp thing wasn't lying about his wares..."

With their companion able to suitably move again, she searches to see if that candle from before is still lit and can be used to light the oil lamp as they venture further up the stairs through the only open door.
Jun 7, 2025 3:50 pm
Borda shrugs, drops the broken knife and grabs two of the cleavers off of the table. He wonders for a moment when the world became so strange that some woman changing back and forth into a lizard was the least weird thing he's seen today. He eases over to the door and cautiously looks beyond.

Jotna

I think you are searching the room? If so, go ahead and roll a DR12 presence and 2d6

Elma

You manage to light oil lamp and get a better view of the nastiness that is this room. You feel like you should leave here before vomit tries to make its way up your stomach again.
Borda

The cleavers seem like they will do nicely as replacements for a dagger. They feel good in your hands. Without really thinking about it, you test one by slicing up a chunk of rotting meat on the table. Just like cutting through butter. You think it might be fun to cut up more things soon.

As you get to the doorway, you see the stairs leading up. The light from the oil lamp gives you just a bit of a glimpse of what's up there. You see the outline of what is likely to be tall furniture. You can't tell exactly what it is from this distance. It for sure smells way nicer and there is a sound. Something that sounds like snoring. Perhaps something worth cutting up?

Do you go on? And if so, do you go quietly?
Jun 9, 2025 8:37 pm
Borda turns to the others, quietly "Psst". He points up the stairs and holds one of the cleaver blades to his lips, like an extended finger shushing the others. He'll turn back to the stairs and once everyone has queued up, he'll start quietly up the stairs.
Jun 9, 2025 9:03 pm
Jotna pokes around the filthy kitchen.

Rolls

Search dc 12 - (1d20)

(16) = 16

Find? - (2d6)

(12) = 3

Jun 10, 2025 2:41 am
Elma will stay until Jotna and Merkari finish looking around the kitchen. She holds her nose as she does so. Once everyone is done, she will follow Borda up the stairs, dimming its light by lowering the wick or hood and holding her shield up in front of it as well.
Jun 10, 2025 8:05 am
Jotna

Amidst the piles of flesh you find a key. It looks like a pretty simple key that one might use for a door or a chest.
Jun 10, 2025 11:42 am
Jotna holds up the key so all may see it, pockets it, and joins the others on the stairs. "Let's hope we find the being behind all this soon... I don't wanna fight another rotten meat golem or whatever the hells that was."
Jun 10, 2025 1:47 pm
OOC:
Anyone going up the stairs, give me a DR10 Agility test to see if you can sneak.

Gonna wait a bit for Dmbrainiac to catch up before resolving the agi test(s)
Jun 10, 2025 1:52 pm
Merkari shook her flail for a while until all the blood and rotten meat had fallen off of the weapon's blunt end. She followed the others, humming happily to herself.

Knowing that she is far from sneaky, especially in her heavy armor, she continues to hum and lets somebody else try to sneak up the stairs.
Jun 10, 2025 9:17 pm
Jotna prowled up the stairs...

Rolls

Sneak - (1d20)

(13) = 13
