"I don't have an accent." Circe declares, pulling her nose up at your offered coffee in a judgemental way... though she also looks wistfully at the cup and takes a deep breath. She ignores your 'goblin' comment, still being too jetlagged to participate in sisterly banter.

"Sure, that sounds great." She says, brightening up when you suggest 'luxury shopping at Canary Wharf' an activity she can get behind, at a place she has heard of... though she half-thought it was a harbour... or a Star Trek character...

Persephone shakes her head and smiles, saying, "Honey, everyone has an accent. Nothing to be ashamed of. Wait, you're not drinking coffee either? This black; no dairy, no sugar. Come on now, you'll need the energy. Don't be a prude."

She slides the coffee a bit closer to Circe.
OOC:
It ends up that, actually, Persephone has always been the girl to tempt her friends and family to indulge their baser natures... no wonder the demon picked her!

"I'm not embarrassed. Why would I be? It's all these brits that talk funny. You are the only person here that talks normal." It's possible she is messing with you.

"And coffee does not give you energy. It only makes you feel like it does." There is definitely a note of longing in her voice, but she is adamant... for now. You have set the idea in her mind and she may well crumble when you get to Black Sheep Coffee and the full force of its aroma.

Persephone laughs and rolls her eyes at Circe's mock parochialism and then smiles slyly at Circe's resistance to coffee. She says, "If merely feeling like I have energy still allows me to do things without which I would not be able to do, which coffee most definitely does, then how is it importantly different from actual energy?"

She laughs at her own little bit of sophistry and says, "OK, let's get going. Those shoes aren't going to buy themselves!"
OOC:
And yes, Persephone also has always been the kind of person to utilize sophistical argumentation, loopholes, and ambiguities in language to her advantage, whether it be in a business contract or a silly chat with her sister. Persephone has not yet realized how well suited she is for her new 'line of work,' though at some level she is beginning to suspect it.

"I definitely need more shoes." Circe agrees. "Everything I own is damp. I really was not expecting the weather to be this bad."

The water-pressure in your condo is excellent, and more than adequate to keep up with two simultaneous showers —if you choose to do so. It might feel like ages ago, but is only yesterday that you were bitten... no, 'it was just a scratch'... by the vampire, Chablis. You have not healed from that, though you can ignore any discomfort and it does not really affect you. You will have to remind yourself about the new dressing if Circe talks you into buying new dresses. Pity Zhiyu could not recommend an ointment for that as well, but it never came up.

Having taken her shower earlier that morning, Persephone shoos Circe away to get ready. Then she logs on to Her, the most popular lesbian dating app being used in London at the moment and continues her quick swiping, in search of Viviana. She reflects, It's a long shot, but who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky. Ahem.

Not finding her, she puts away the phone as Circe emerges. Persephone smirks and snarks, saying, "Ah yes, your patented 'poor American college student' chic. I love it, but we need to get you a new look, girl!" Persephone smiles and Circe knows she's joking, mostly.

Circe smacks her playfully and the two head out to shop--destination, Canary Wharf.

Benji figures the frog knows best what frogs do in winter and that, if he tries to intervene, he will probably just get in its way.

St James’s Park is fenced off to stop people walking or cycling on the flooded footpaths but Benji just hops over the low metal fence and sets the frog down on a nice muddy patch of grass.

"Goodbye and good luck," he says, with a very formal bow. "Watch out for the pelicans."

By the time you get to Canary Wharf, Circe is complaining about a headache. It transpires that she quit coffee when she arrived in London and you can point her to a quick web-search on caffeine-withdrawal-headaches which makes her pull a face. She is not sure if this proves her point about fake-energy being 'bad', or proves your point about how it makes you feel being the whole point, but the headache is not something she likes and she invariably drawn to the coffee shop to remedy it.

Black Sheep Coffee, it turns out, is very queer, if you know what to look for. Circe —as a straight— does not recognise this, but, closeted as Viviana is, this is the sort of place she might try to avoid... but it is your only lead, and it 'feels right' (but, then, that's the point of coffee).

Viviana is not there now, but the relief on Circe's face as she takes a sip (possibly placebo as it is too quick for any physiological change to have happened yet) suggests you will be back.

The frog cocks an eye at you, as only a frog can. 'Pelicans'? Phooey! It almost seems to be saying. I'ma looking out for princesses to kiss! It inhales the fresh air, looking pleased and leaps gracefully into the water.

Persephone laughs at Circe's face when she reads the caffeine headache headline. As they arrive at Black Sheep Coffee, Persephone opens the door and gestures for Circe to enter, as if she were Willy Wonka introducing the children to the factory. She takes a surprising amount of enjoyment watching Circe relish that first sip.

She and Circe linger a bit until Persephone can put it off no longer. "OK. let's get you out of those soaking trainers and into some proper shoes! Hmm, let's see. Kitten heels from LK Bennett, some statement boots from Dune London... maybe some streetwear from Circle Collective? Yes, I think so. And after shoes, some proper clothes! Ok...let's go!"

"Company" card in hand, Persephone takes Circe by the hand and out into the wonderful world of luxury capitalism.

Benji opens his umbrella (though it won't do him much good, at this point) and heads back to his apartment to get some long overdue rest.

Emma works (with) Sarah in the kitchen, focusing on preparing dinner.

You see Circe's faces tell the tale of her journey, from "In this weather?", through "that's probably best.", to "I suppose so.", all the way to the realisation "wait: all of them‽ I love my sister!".

"Yeah. OK." She agrees, putting on a casual tone that is fooling no one.

"Where have you been!?" Lizabeth demands as you walk in the door. "I was soo worried that something had happened to you!"

It is awkward, all the progress you made bringing Sarah out of her cocoon seems to have evaporated when you started putting pressure on her. She was never the biggest conversationalist, but even that is gone from the kitchen, silent except for your orders. If this does not make her want to move out... well, she stayed with a vampire, for goodness knows how long, so maybe she will tolerate this atmosphere that sucks too?

Eventually David comes home, cold and tired.

Benji shrugs off his wet coat and hangs it on the radiator. "I was at the park," he answers, confused, before he remembers about the lost day. "Oh! Goodness! I’m sorry, Lizabeth. I didn’t mean to worry you. It’s sort of difficult to explain, but it seems that I’ve missed a day somehow. As in, I thought it was only this morning that we met with Amira and the Night Sisters, but apparently that’s not the case. I’m sorry. I should have called you as soon as I realised."

It was harder and harder for Emma to think of Sarah as a real person. She was so meek and lethargic and bland, she couldn't believe she was capable of surviving on her own without anyone steering her. She showed no initiative. No pushback. Nothing. More and more she reminded her of the 'Servitors' in Arundel - the men bereft of personality who only existed to obey their masters. She caught herself wondering just how far she could push the poor girl before she finally snapped, if it would ever happen at all. It was a cruel thought, but she couldn't help herself. She wanted to provoke her, do something drastic to wake her from this dull submission. If only she could be sure it wouldn't make matters worse for her...

When David finally walked in, soaked and cold and exhausted, she smiled, but the sight of him drained and dripping made her sigh inwardly. So much for tonight. She thought. Her husband looked far too miserable for anything beyond dinner, no matter how sexy she looked in that dress. He was usually always home much earlier, by mid-afternoon, but the relentless rains flooding parts of the city had his department scrambling all over London. It has been going on for weeks now, and he has been looking worse for wear as the days dragged on. At least the weekend would be upon them soon, and he would have a couple of days to recover...

"Hi" she said softly as she walked over to him, but didn't lean in for a kiss since she didn't want to get her pretty dress wet "How was your day?" she knew the answer to that, but asked him anyways "Do you want to change? Dinner is ready"

"That was, like, two days ago!" Lizabeth says —rounding up. "I was already getting worried before Miriam came round last night." You doubt that, it does not seem like Lizabeth is inclined to worry much, but Miriam's worry may have rubbed off on her.

"I didn't expect to see her, out and about, you know." Lizabeth comments, indicating that she, at least, had some idea that Miriam was struggling.

It is not until the talk of 'changing' that David notices the outfit —he must be really tired to have missed that when he walked in. "Er... do we have plans?" He asks, also puzzled by tonight's smart dress-code... well excluding Sarah's ratty old jersey. "Sorry. I forgot." he is trying to rally and be a good host for whatever you have planned. He is such a trooper.

"I was bored. You know what happens when I get bored: heels, lipstick, and mischief." She placed her hand over his chest, and leaned in just a bit closer "Go change into some dry clothes. I’ll have a drink ready for you when you get back"
