Sassafras grew up on the fringes, raised by a loose-knit family of carnies who taught her everything from knife throwing to picking pockets. She was always better at slipping away than standing in the spotlight, a habit that stuck even when she found herself in the blood-and-glory world of XCrawl.

She joined her first XCrawl crew after a botched con left her needing a quick payday and a faster way out of town. Turns out, she had a knack for survival in the dungeons, even if she never sought the cheers of the crowd. The problem? XCrawl fame doesn’t just make you rich—it makes you findable. She’s had to torch her reputation more than once to stay ahead of old warrants and bad debts, which means every time she gets close to the big leagues, she has to start over from scratch.

When she’s not dodging death in the dungeons, she drifts back to the carnival circuit, blending in with the fortune tellers, fire eaters, and grifters. But the call of the Crawl is hard to ignore. It’s the only place where she can be someone new with every fight.

Despite his skills at the arcane, Callan comes from a long line of tradesmen; his family has been building the North American Empire since the days of George Augustus. However, Callan was a classic rebellious teen - not content to follow in his old man's footsteps, he wanted to make a name for himself in the flashiest way possible. And what better way than to join XCrawl?

He trained as a Wizard in secret, planning to become an arena designer, but could never quite get the grasp of the advanced theory. But, he was gifted enough to learn the pattern weaving required to become a Blaster, with a little help from some unsavoury sources beyond traditional conceptions of space and time.

Now in his twenties, he runs to prove his old man wrong - he has always been destined for more.

If you ask him in an interview, he still carries his hammer from his days as an apprentice roofer (and a few spare nails - always bound to come in handy) as part of his gimmick - a working man turned spellslinger who never forgot his roots.

Redcroc says:
@nezzeraj I think DarkRaider and I are swapped on your list. But I'm ready to lock in dwarf mechanic as my pregen character.
DarK_RaideR says:
Yup, I think Redcroc is right.
Whoops! Just giving you the true experience of my GM skills of paying attention to detail! Haha. Fixed now.

The pre-gens are level 2 so you'll have to bump them up one level. Let me know if you need help with that.

Ok, working on my character sheet now.

I don't have any of the XCC books. Is levelling just the same as in the DCC core book for Dwarf? Doesn't look like it matches either Dwarf or Thief in the DCC book.

Yeah classes are all different in their class tables. I'll share the level up tables.

I'm feeling the Jammer way more than the Half Orc (might be the hours I've sunk into Truck Simulator games) but also lack any XCrawl books. The Gamma Rules I found don't even include the Jammer (guessing that was in the beta release of the rules?) and only go up to level 2 for the classes they do include, so I'll need some help bumping my main man to 3.

Sent in my character sheet now too. First time sending in a character on this site, let me know if anything seems off!

I think gamma comes after beta, so maybe it was only on release. Here's your chart:

Quick overview of your class abilities:
HD: 1d8
Weapon training: Jammers are trained in the longsword, short sword, rapier, hand axe, dagger, spear, and crossbow. Jammers can wear any armor but wearing armor with an -4 or lower armor check penalty negates the AC bonus from their chosen weapon (see below).
Chosen weapon: At 1st level, the jammer picks one melee weapon from their trained weapon list as to be their chosen weapon. This weapon, once chosen, cannot be changed. Thereafter when fighting with their chosen weapon they receive an AC bonus equal to their class level.
Performance: At 1st level jammers are trained in one performance specialty. This can be practically anything with judge approval: freestyle rapping, electric guitar, slam poetry, blues harmonica, comedy, jazz crooning, etc. The check is 1d20+Per+level. Jammers choose additional performances at each level.
Disrespect: The jammer can use their performance specialty to lampoon, distract, detract from, and otherwise disrespect an opponent. The jammer spends a full round action using their performance specialty to disrespect their opponent and makes a Performance check. The opponent must make a Willpower save against a DC equal to the jammer’s Performance check. Failure means the opponent is disrespected for a number of rounds equal to the jammer’s level + Personality modifier (minimum of 1 round). While disrespected, the opponent takes a penalty to attack rolls, spell check rolls, damage rolls, and Willpower saves as listed in Table 1-11: The Jammer.
Devastating Attack: The jammers combat prowess and performance excellence merge in their devastating attack. If the jammer makes a successful attack against an opponent while they are disrespected, they add their devastating attack die to the damage, as indicated by Table 1-11: The Jammer. This can be a melee or ranged attack.
Lionize: The jammer can use their performance to bolster their allies, giving them a serious edge against their enemies. The jammer uses a single action to make a Performance check, making a particular ally the target of their lionization. If successful, the lionization benefits last for the jammer’s class level in rounds. Thus, a 2nd level jammer who successfully lionizes an ally gives their lionization bonus for 2 rounds. Check the Performance check against Table 1-10: Jammer Lionization to see its effectiveness. On any lionize check of a natural 1 the jammer flubs their performance that it actually gives their opponents a boost.
Mojo: Jammers earn a point of Mojo for every failed attack roll or spell check by disrespected opponents. In addition, the jammer has a special Mojo ability. Unlike members of every other class, the jammer has the ability to boost their ally’s attack rolls, spell checks, or skill checks with Mojo points from their own pool after the die roll.
Luck: Jammers add their Luck modifier to Performance checks. Jammers may choose to add their Luck modifier to their AC.

Almost set, just a few final questions:

1) I noticed the premade character has the maximum 16 hp. Do we go with max hp for every level? Should I keep that and roll the lvl 3 hp? Roll hp for all 3 levels altogether?

2) The level 2 premade jammer has a +0 Stamina bonus and +2 Fortitude save, but the levelling table shows a +1 base Fortitude save at level 2. Is that an error or am I missing something? By my calculations, he should have a total Fortitude bonus of +1 at both lvl2 and lvl3 anyway.

3) The premade has an AC of 17. By my calculations, it's a base of 10, +1 from Agility, +5 from equipment, then chosen weapon adds +1 AC/level, so it should either be 18 when wielding the rapier or 16 when not. Let me know so I can properly calculate my AC once I bump the premade to lvl 3 and get an extra +1 AC when wielding a rapier.

1. Keep hp and just roll for level 3.
2. Looks like an error, +1 is correct. Sadly its pretty common from many premades I've seen. Good catch!
3. Another mistake. It should be 18 and your level 3 jammer will be 19, or 16 when not wielding the rapier.

For Gabriel Carver, Xcrawl wasn't just entertainment. It was his life and dream. From as early as he can remember, the AVS feed in his childhood home was always tuned to the latest crawl. From the day he turned 10 he entered the Action League with a manic gleam in his eye and a joyous smile on his lips. Up through the Varsity Action League and into the early Divisions, he fought and ripped and tore his way forward. A kid with potential, some trainers said. A rising star.

His first Division IV game ended with him hospitalized after passing out in the middle of the crawl. Lucky to have survived, according to the doctor. He didn't feel lucky. Some congenital heart defect, with a long latin name he never bothered to learn. Regular medication, a healthy diet, no unnecessary stress. When Gabriel asked about Xcrawl the doctor just laughed.

Twenty years can pass in such a blur. Drifted from job to job, didn't have the skills or drive to keep any of them for long. Met a girl, got married, had kids. She had steady work, a better salary. Made sense he stayed home with the kids. Watched the Xcrawl on weekends, dreamed of what could have been.

Now the kids are grown, moved out. They call once or thrice a year to check in, but they're busy with their own lives. Divorce proceedings wrapped up ten months ago, now he lives in a 1-room apartment he co-rents with two other strangers. He's behind on rent.

When exactly did he make the decision? What event prompted him? He's not sure. All he knows is that right now, when the doors swing open on the night of the game, and he joins his first Division III-crawl, he feels sharper, more alive than ever before. With steel and fists and sheer bloody-minded stubbornness he drags himself over broken bodies towards his goal, one Xcrawl after another. In quiet moments, in the lull between battles, he hears the ever-increasingly strained beating of his heart. He pops some pills, half for the heart, half for pain, and pushes on. Hit harder, run faster. Don't stop to think. Now he's where he belongs, this is his time, these are his people. He'll reach his dream, or die trying. Just a few more crawls, then he'll be a legend. Then he'll be immortal.

Now that the team is coming together, its time to choose the team sponsor! You have three choices and you can only pick one. You only have their reputation to go on, and I'll reveal the benefits and drawbacks once a sponsor is picked. Read the summary of each sponsor and the vote in the poll! We'll go with the majority winner.

1. Phang Blades—Phang provide melee weapons and shields for Xcrawl and the NAE Armed Forces. They are one of the oldest Xcrawl sponsors, and the PCs’ agent believes that having them on the team will give them some real legitimacy. They offer weapon and shield support.

2. Axis Alchemical—For years Axis provided a best-of-breed poison experience for Xcrawl events all throughout the world. This year, for the first time, Axis is moving into manufacturing magical potions. To promote their new line they want to sponsor their first Xcrawl squad—the PC team. The agent is a little leery of working with Axis, he says that everyone in the whole company is a little creepy, but they are offering potion support.

3. Max Media—Max Media is an entertainment and commercial conglomerate. They are a relative newcomer, having incorporated less than six months before they made their offer to the PCs agent, but they already have a fairly impressive corporate client list. They promise a lucrative cash deal in exchange for the PC team representing a number of the different brands they represent.
