Round four
(this was preceded by round three)

Shaken by the ferocity and brutality, Arya nevertheless runs forward to aid the fallen warrior, Myrtha. "Great Pelor," Arya cries out, crouching to press her hands against Myrtha's gushing wounds, "lend your divine light! Heal this brave warrior's wounds, that her fight against the encroaching darkness may continue in your glorious name!" Pelor hears her prayer.
Myrtha is healed for 9 HP and is no longer dying. Her vision clears and she finds herself prone with a kindly stranger leaning over her.

Chase pulls, nocks, draws, aims, and releases, but the arrow just misses Ambusher Seven.

"You have our thanks, traveler," Aanbo thanks Arya while retaliating against Bandit Five with staff blows and fierce kicks.
Bandit Five takes 7 bludgeoning damage.

Myrtha blinks groggily as she feels her flesh begin to heal. "Thank you" she says to Arya's concerned face leaning over her as the fighter's hand reflexively reaches out and finds her sword grip. The act of finding her voice and holding her sword strengthens her resolve.
Myrtha gains 8 more HP from Second Wind.
Grateful that Aanbo has kept the enemy busy during all this, Myrtha then rolls over to stand up and attack Ambusher Five all in one motion. The sword, coming from an unexpected direction, slides under his defenses and in between his ribs.
Ambusher Five takes 11 damage and falls dead.

Swaying on his feet, Theran taps into the the pulsing life force of the mycelium network beneath his feet and feels vigor restored to his body.
Theran gains 4 HP.

Manthis growls low in his throat, both hands tight on the grip of his greatsword, and stomps toward Ambusher One, swinging the long blade in whistling arcs over his head. Ambusher One sees his doom in those fierce eyes and attempts to defend himself with his scimitar. But Manthis' scything blade knocks the much-smaller blade aside, and the next rotation brings the sword cleaving into the bandit's ribcase with a crunch.
Ambusher One takes 13 slashing damage and dies instantly.

If he weren't in the thick of battle, Ambusher Seven might realize the predicament that he's in, but at the moment, all the sees is that Rosemary has knocked down his buddy and expected leader, Four (he's a little slow on the uptake and didn't see where the fire that scorched him came from). So he loads his crossbow and attempts to get some payback against the little barbarian. The bolt whistles over her head.

As he is fumbling for the next bolt to slot into his crossbow, furious Rosemary is already upon him, clubbing him with her paddle in the knees, the gut, and across the head.
Ambusher Seven takes 6 bludgeoning damage.

Jonel squints and aims as he draws back his hands, marshalling the energy from within. His hands ignite, and then he thrusts them forward, hurling another gout of fire searing across the forest and over Rosemary's head to engulf Ambusher Seven in flames!
Ambusher Seven takes 10 fire damage and dies screaming.

There is a lull as the assorted heroes look around for any remaining threats: there are none, and all of them are alive and victorious.

"Wonderful!" Bradley cheers from his vantage point a little ways down Cecily's Road. "You Dungeon Busters are incredible!!"

"You have our thanks, traveler," Aanbo thanks Arya while retaliating against Bandit Five with staff blows and fierce kicks.
Bandit Five takes 7 bludgeoning damage.
CancerMan says:
If Five was felled by Manthis's attack, Aanbo will move around Theran to engage One instead.
OOC:
I resolve the attacks in initiative order, so if @matmaisan has Myrtha (whose turn it is now) get up and hit Five with an attack that takes him down, I'd probably have Manthis be the one to attack One instead (unless @WanderOne decides to attack Seven if that happens).

OOC:
Sorry was very busy the last couple of days.
Myrtha’s eyes opened wide in a moment of surprise followed by pain, and then relief. She took in a huge breath as her lungs were no longer being filled by the blood flowing from the cloven arteries on her side. Next to her, knelt this unknown young beauty. At first she thought that the beliefs of some warrior folk must be true, and that one was greeted by angelic maidens in the afterlife. Then the sounds of trampling feet and expiring lives invaded her conscience. She realized she was not in some version of heaven, but back in the Dim, laying in a puddle of her own dark blood.

Her expression was confused as she realized that the happy tingling of mending flesh and sinew came from this unknown woman. She was as at a loss of words as her free hand reached around her, looking for the comfort of cold steel.

"Thank you," she stated in confusion as she began rolling over to kneel and then stand up. The fracas of combat all around her she took one deep breath to focus on the immediate need of survival, and then she was back into the fray.

The closest bandit insisted on fighting their party, despite being outnumbered. Myrtha gave a tentative swing to get back into the mood for killing.
OOC:
Movement = stand up, and if bandit #5 is dispatched, move towards bandit#1, to stand next to Theran and protect him.
Bonus action = second wind

OOC:
I have turns for everyone else except for Theran's turn from @MaJunior. What does Theran do this round? Only two enemies remaing (One and Seven) but at the same time, Theran is very hurt.
Apr 11, 2025 11:48 am
Theran wrestles with the choice between striking the attacker before him and keeping himself alive... and it would likely pain him to admit it, but self preservation wins out. Focusing, he pulls the abundant vitality of the surrounding forest into himself to bolster his own waning life force.
OOC:

No Bonus Action.

CancerMan says:

OOC:
Sorry, it took me a while to finish the post of the end of the round (and the combat). Rosemary and Jonel together took out the last bandit. If it had gone another round, Aanbo would have been able to reach and attack Seven if you chose to do that. But your round four turn was used to attack Five.

Rolls

The Mystery! - (1d6)

(6) = 6

Chase seeing no more targets will shoulder his bow and start searching and looting bodies. Look for the spiral insignia or maybe some relation to bandit Black.
Apr 11, 2025 8:35 pm
While Chase investigates the bodies of the attackers, Aanbo turns to the strangers nearby. "Thank you, travelers," he says, slapping at the blood on his soil-stained clothing. His bare toes knead into the dirt after he stands next to Myrtha and Theran. "Your assistance against these attackers is welcome."

Aanbo looks to the road, trying to see if Bradley is still around. "You seem to be headed towards Orlane," he continues. "If you intend to pass through, I advise you do not tarry. If Orlane is your destination, I advise you turn around and head back to Hochoch, or make other arrangements." The monk shakes some dirt out of his hair and kicks at the knee of Five's leg. "You might find this kind of hospitality."

https://gamersplane.com/characters/avatars/31873.jpg?1739084733 Sword swinging Manthis cleans up his great sword as he takes note there isn't more evil bandits. He advances over to healer Arya and protector Myrtha. He says to recently healed Myrtha, "I see Arya has fixed you up. I go by Manthis, a fellow Dungeon Buster. That sure was a lot of chaos. Seems you all have made some friends."

He says to priestess Arya, "You did a fine job." He knows this chaos is new to her. And glances over to Jonel & Rosemary.

"Sorry, did you say, 'Dungeon Buster?'" asks Aanbo. A realization hits him. "Ah, you must have been sent by Sir Oliver, then?"

https://gamersplane.com/characters/avatars/31873.jpg?1739084733 Turn his attentions away from protector Myrtha, "You are correct. Although we expected you in Orlane. This is Arya, Jonel, & Rosemary. You must be Aanbo. By my count. You are shorthanded." He points out his party members.

Jonel walks over and watches the others search the corpses.
"Jonel Steele. You guys are pretty handy with your weapons." approaching Myrtha "Are you well? Saw you take a spill there."
Apr 11, 2025 10:45 pm
Aanbo holds up a hand as he interposes himself between Jonel and Myrtha. "Thanks," he says. "You'll forgive the tense air, having just finished a big battle and all. But, um, you sure you were sent by Sir Oliver?"
Apr 11, 2025 11:51 pm
"I believe that is the affiliation of these three. I am more of a free agent until someone convinces me otherwise. Without them, I would surely be pushing up daisies."
