I don the new armor and try out the shield, "These are well made, indeed. Thank you. If I find a spark, I'll be sure to return."

With that, I turn and head away.
OOC:
It is unclear to me where I can go from here -- is there more to this encampment? Or, just the blacksmith and bonfire, in which case it's back out into the battlefield? If I can go deeper into the encampment, I'd like to press on towards the firekeep.
Dec 27, 2016 3:40 am
OOC:
You can explore the encampment further with a roll of some kind, but other then that all you can really do is go back onto the battlefield, I'll describe the battlefield before you when you leave the tents.
Dec 28, 2016 12:17 pm
I scour the encampment, looking for useful things, or an alternate path forward.
OOC:
Rolled investigation as it seemed most appropriate.

Investigation - (1d20+5)

(9) + 5 = 14

You don't find an alternative route but you do find a corpse holding a sword similar to those used by the Almian soldiers and another Almian Legionnaire soul.
Dec 30, 2016 2:29 am
I take the sword and the soul, then turn and head back to the battlefield.

The battlefield between the encampment and the outer walls of the keep is shear pandemonium. The ground is reduced to potholed mud as a the result of in determinant years of mindless fighting. The walls of the keep itself are manned by ballista but you see a vector of approach that could allow you to avoid their fire that leads to the main gates. You could forge your own path across the chaos but this will likely leave you open to attack from the wall.
OOC:
In case you want a sense of scale, if the terrain was unhindering you could walk across it in ~half an hour.
Jan 1, 2017 5:38 pm
I steady my resolve, kneel and scrawl the summoning sign with my soapstone at the edge of the encampment - as I give to another the opportunity to not follow this path alone, as I am about to. Then, I set out along the route that appears to be protected from the attacks of those upon the walls. My mind attuned to the dangers around me.
OOC:
Psionic Focus: Celerity. Advantage on Init checks, and if I would be surprised I may spend 1 psi point to not be surprised.
Jan 2, 2017 4:54 am
Ahead of you is a large creature clad in heavy armour, it beats a heavy mace against a broken wall segment.
Jan 2, 2017 4:03 pm
I approach ( Move to be within 20 feet), push my thoughts violently outwards towards the large creature (Action - Thought Spear: The target must make a DC 13 Int save. On a failure it takes 1d8 psychic damage), then I set my spear and prepare to receive its charge (Bonus Action - set spear - if the creature moves into melee without disengaging first, I make an attack with my reaction that deals and extra 1d8 damage)
OOC:

AC 19 (17 + 2 from Shield)
38/38 HP; 2 Temp HP
27/27 Psi Points

The lumbering soldier reals in pain from your psychic attack. Then just as you predicted reals into a charge against you. Though it charges strait into your spear it carries through with a mighty swing of it's heavy mace. You barely manage to bring up you shield just in time to block the terrible blow.

Rolls

Save - (1d20-2)

(4) - 2 = 2

Attack - (1d20+6)

(12) + 6 = 18

Damage - (4d8+4)

(3176) + 4 = 21

Damage - (4d8+4)

(4752) + 4 = 22

I slide backwards from the blow, focus on my defenses, get to my feet and lung at the beast with my spear - powering the thrust with psychic energy to try and tear through its flesh and spirit in one quick blow (18 vs AC; 8 Damage + 26 Psychic Damage from Psionic Weapon for 5 Psi Points).
OOC:
The creatures attack roll was 18, while my AC with my shield is 19 - so I think that misses? If it doesn't and if it deals both damage rolls, then that's it for Alara - as that's 43 damage vs 40 total HP... I've posted assuming it does miss.

Move: Stand, Move 5 feet forward (I have reach with spears)
Bonus: Focus on Iron Durability for +1 AC
Action: Attack

AC: 20 (17 Armor, +2 Shield, +1 Iron Durability)
HP: 38/38, 2 THP
Psi Points: 27/27 (-5 if attack hits)

OOC:
Ah your character sheet was missing the shield bonus... I'll edit the last post. Also I don't know why the damage rolled twice there...
The soldier swings its huge mace in response to your powerful blow. But the blow is clumsy and you deftly dodge out of the way.

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+6)

(2) + 6 = 8

The clumsy attacks are easier to get around, so I shift my focus to my weapon - filling it with psionic power - and strike at the creature with my spear. If the spear finds its mark, I again release a surge of psychic power through the spear head into the creatures body - rending mind and body at once.
OOC:
Oops, forgot to put that in there. Can't imagine when I wouldn't be holding onto the shield!
Did my attack last turn hit?

Bonus: Focus on Psionic Weapon (+1 attack, +1 damage)
Action: Attack! Spending 3 psi points on Psionic Weapon if hit (for +3d10 damage)

AC: 19 (17 Armor, +2 Shield)
HP: 38/38, 2 THP
Psi Points: 22/27 (-3 if hit)

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+9)

(15) + 9 = 24

(7) + 5 = 12

Psionic Weapon Damage - (3d10)

(672) = 15

With a powerful blow you fell the knight, and absorb the soul of a Legrion Tortoise Knight. Ahead of you one of the Knights from outside the encament and a knight with a heavy lance do battle 40ft down the trench.
Jan 6, 2017 3:40 pm
I stand where I am and observe their battle to determine which is likely to win, and if it looks to be coming to an end any time soon.
Jan 7, 2017 12:31 am
The lancer with it's shield and better armour is likely to win this encounter, but it's not clear how long this battle will last.

You have been summoned into this thread if you choose to accept the call. Please feel free to post in both threads simultaniously, after all; time is convoluted.
Jan 7, 2017 3:38 am
I shift my mental focus to my quickness of reaction and then move partway down the ridge, readying my weapon in case they notice me and decide to give up their conflict and attack.
OOC:
Psionic Focus: Celerity (advantage on init)

Move: Move 20 feet
Bonus Action: Set spear against weaker knight.

AC: 19 (17 Armor, +2 Shield)
HP: 38/38, 2 THP
Psi Points: 19/27

OOC:
Let's see if they're paying attention...
As you speed past the two of them, you draw the attention of the weaker knight. It turns to follow you and you can strike at it with your spear.
