1.2 Shadows of Ourselves

They may have returned from within the dark but they didn't return to us if they did.

As you ride towards the dark portal at the centre of the devouring dark, the noise surrounding you becomes less and less until eventually you realise that you are completely enveloped in it's inky blackness. Curiously, you can still see each other clearly but on three sides of you, as well as above you the air itself seems to be thick, black and oily. In front of you, there seems to be a path of a slightly lighter blackness which leads down into a gaping maw of hopelessness.

The darkness swallows you as you enter into the belly of the beast that is the devouring dark. Suitably devoured, you realise that it's not as dark as you initially thought. Furthemore, you appear to be in a giant cavern sloping gently downwards. About 200 yards ahead there appears to be a small stone bridge over a molten lava river. As your eyes adjust to the light from the 'river' you become aware of a buzzing noise. Looking up, you can see the shiny underbellies of what looks like 5 or more large bronze coloured wasps, each the size of a human. They have seen you and make their way towards your little entourage.

The swarm of hellwasps descends on the party from the blackness. Haguk is immediately targetted by the most alert of the giant insects. It's stinger penetrates Haguk's shoulder causing him to yell in agony.
