@Mica_pun_worthy: Yeah. Got it covered. I'm leaning towards Navy with Jasir, which doesn't really show in Dark Themes, but ah well. And yep, can't forget the Fell. Jasir's likely about to pick up the orc's axe and take off some heads since it'd be a pain to have an undead go back home and talk about our secret plans.
Cutting off the heads of potential undead is excellent, pragmatic and pro-active prevention!

In most lore that helps--sometimes you also have to burn the neck to seal the flesh from joining again.

But I confess I have not finished reading through the Midnight lore specifically about their version of zombies.
From the Midnight Second Edition book: the deceased is doomed to rise as Fell in 1d4 days unless it is beheaded or its body is destroyed by fire.

So you were right. Those are the two generally accepted ways to prevent Fell. XD I as a player knew this, but we'll see if Jasir's also privy to some knowledge on the subject.

Didn't get a GM's info on below.
WanderOne says:
Azote has the path of Naturefriend and it includes "Entangle 1/day" but totally lacks to explain the mechanics. Is that at will, casted, spell-like or what?

It is listed at a 40' radius spread which is incredibly HUGE. Wonder if one could be allowed to make a smaller area of effect? Obviously at 40' radius, it isn't great to use in the civilized area as it will hit multiple buildings no matter what.

That and may a caster end a spell in effect before it is done due to the fact it isn't concentration? For example, Entangle spell will last 30 rounds when casted.
[ +- ] Entangle
And speaking of casting spells, Azote has now casted 5 today and 4 of them in the last minute or so. All 5 of these spells (None are cantrips) are channeler and none are naturefriend or innate.
Yep, been driving all day. Playing catch up.

Spells granted by Heroic Paths are spell-like abilities, at will, once a day. This is typically for a spell like.

In the magic section of Adventures in midnight I put this in there:
[ +- ] Abilities that function like Spells:
So, they are detectable... buuut Powers granted by Heroic Paths are Innate Magic, so you can cast them around Black Mirrors without worry of them being absorbed/depressed.

The dismissability question has already been answered, as far as changing it's size, I'd say you can take the feat below and we can work in a custom option for entangle if you'd like.

Going to take a break for a minute, think I addressed everything that need to be addressed in the game thread. If I missed something, let me know.

Cool. So, my Naturefriend & Innate Magic spells have no (VSM) to them unlike my channeler cantrips & spells. And if they have (D) in description then I can cancel the spell's effects. Currently, I have no control on area of effect.

Unfortunately, Azote has been casting channeler spells, so (VSM) applies and they are rather obvious castings.

Enjoying our game thusly! Great pace, everyone doing great!

So, that didn't go exactly as I had planned. The diplomacy check succeeding really threw off the encounter, I adjusted the Orc's CR to compensate a little, but you guys still managed it very easily. Will take that into account for future encounters. At the end of the day though, I'm not mad about it. The plan was to ramp it up along the way. Just... Yea, didn't expect to not get a single hit in. lol.

Loot:
Axe (Don't know where you guys got vardatch from, did I say Vardatch? I thought I was pretty consistent with Axe.)
Breastplate
Dagger x5
Bloodstained leather armor x2
6 days rations

Abilities that function like Spells:
• Spell-like abilities (Sp): Function like spells, provoke attacks of opportunity, and are detectable by Astiraxes.
• Supernatural abilities (Su): Magical in nature, but internal and not detectable by Astiraxes. Do not provoke attacks of opportunity.
• Extraordinary abilities (Ex): Mundane abilities not magical in origin, cannot be detected by magical means and do not provoke attacks of opportunity.
So, they are detectable... buuut Powers granted by Heroic Paths are Innate Magic, so you can cast them around Black Mirrors without worry of them being absorbed/depressed.
@HeroOfSometimes: Very helpful thank you. I am going to be better than I have been about trying to help supply Magic/Pathfinder 1E info when I only have a few seconds at work between tasks to verify...i.e. I will stop 'helping' in that way, I mean.

To all others, I am sorry for any rules related confusion and I will do better and let GM answer first! ;)

I am slightly confused. I think it is because people are not reading everyone's post and just posting.

Úlfr is decapitating the Orc and 2 Thugs. One by One.
Seelah is tying one up as a prisoner.

I was just trying to loot them to make sure IF they wake up they didn't have anything important on them.

Petra and Azote are healing the One Armed Halfing.

@HeroOfSometimes:
Quote:
The beast wheels on the source of his pain and embarrassment, boots chewing splinters. In a few thunderous strides he almost finds his target, but Seelah, guardian in spirit and fortune, intervene; his vardatch whistles a murderous arc through smoky air. The blade carves only the odor of foul cider.
I thought it was an axe too, but I can see there being some confusion. XD

Was this everything? I think you said something about a shortsword also.

I plan on only taking a Dagger and the Rations. (Rations for everyone use not just mine)
Jun 25, 2025 9:40 pm
Sorry, guys, wife let me drink yesterday. 🤣

Axe, no vardatch.
Change Dagger x5, to short sword x2, Dagger x3.

I did intend for them to have a short sword a piece, I forgot about that. Glad none of those attacks hit. 😬
Jun 25, 2025 9:47 pm
Well that ruins everything (sarcasm). How is Ulfr going to cut off an orc and a thug's head with only an axe...? XD
Jun 25, 2025 9:50 pm
Adjusted my post to indicate the evil shadow humans were dead. Didn't bother Azote one bit.
Jun 25, 2025 9:54 pm
I'd rather not describe the process of hacking into a corpses neck with an axe, I'll just say he's really strong and does it right away.

This game is gonna border on sadism enough as it is. I don't wanna be unnecessarlly gorey to boot, lol.

Tosses the detached halfling arm at the GM.
Jun 25, 2025 10:06 pm
Yep, hey, not trying to be a hypocrite, like I said, it's gonna get messy. I deliberately avoided much discussion/description of gore, lol. But the themes still need to be present, the setting is brutal. Gotta convey that.
Jun 25, 2025 10:10 pm
Is it a great axe or a battle axe?
Jun 25, 2025 10:47 pm
Is the Orc and 2 thugs both beheaded?
