Game Thread: Rawlyn

As you come up the staircase, you see the city around the Firekeep for the first time. The buildings were once grand, but now are a mere echo of their former glory. You do not have much time to enjoy it though, as you notice archers on the outer wall, and above you on the ramparts of the keep some hollows in bright armour lining you up with greatbows.
OOC:
If you wish to proceed into this part of the city, describe how you start exploring the city while avoiding bow fire and include a relevant skill check. Or you can back out and go elsewhere...
Mar 6, 2017 8:15 pm
Rawlyn retreats slightly, and at the bottom of the staircase he writes a mark with his white soapstone. "If anyone should have need of me." He thinks, "Perhaps I'll see Alara again." Then he lowers himself, and moves back up the staircase. He quickly rushes from cover to cover, and once they lose him, he stays low to be out of the great archer's sight.

Rolls

Athletics (if needed) - (1d20+8)

(9) + 8 = 17

Stealth - (1d20+9)

(20) + 9 = 29

Mar 7, 2017 9:31 pm
You quickly use some of the houses as cover, breaking line of sight with your assailants. You travel for a little while, before seeing a way to get down into a lower part of the city, but you will need to break cover to get down there.
OOC:
If there are multiple skill roles that may apply, just pick the most relevant and roll that. Should be one dice roll per post. How do you get into the lower part of the city, stealth is nearly impossible in this case.
Mar 7, 2017 11:31 pm
Rawlyn looks from side to side and sighs. He lowers his bag and weapon to the ground, being sure he is still in cover, and does a few warm-up stretches, at least the best he can do in his armor. Once limber, he dons his gear once more and prepares himself. "1...2...3!" He counts and sprints out, heading for the opening!
OOC:
If a combat situation, he'll use dash. If not, here is Athletics. Crap its plus 8, so add 2 below I suppose.

OOC:
This sequence isn't really a combat scenario, think of it as a narrative intersected with a roll every now and then.
The city sandwiched between the two walls is tightly packed buildings and winding paths. Even navigating the streets will be hard, and though you would think they offer refuge from the wall bound assault, but many streets are still in line of sight.
OOC:
How are you going to navigate the space, it's tight and windy and ill suited for an outright sprint, you may also wish to use this roll to find your way...
Mar 10, 2017 5:49 am
Rawlyn frowns, looking back the way he came and the path before him. Then at any other paths presenting themselves to him. With a telling gesture, he scratches his head. "Am I lost? I sure hope not." He thinks.

"What is the best way to go?"

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+3)

You find a path through the city that is mostly safe from the barrage, coming across a grate that leads that leads to the sewers, perhaps this will lead you below. You cannot see a straight forward way to open it, some force might be needed...
Mar 13, 2017 2:28 am
Rubbing his hands together and stretching his shoulders to limber up, Rawlyn approaches the grate. He grabs it, feeding his fingers through the holes, and hoists up with all his might!

Despite his effort, He manages to only get his hands caught in the grate! Only with great effort does he free his hands.

The grate is seized shut and unlikely to shift, you'll need to find another way.
OOC:
You should be getting the hang of this by now your move!
Mar 15, 2017 10:59 pm
Swearing loudly Rawlyn looks around. Perhaps he can use something as a fulcrum to pop it free.

Finding nothing of the sort, his eyes drift to the lance he is carrying. "Maybe..." He uses the lance and sticks it into the grate at the edge, then he puts his weight into pushing the other end of the staff down.

As you try to pry the grate open sudden pain filled your whole body as a knife is plunged deep into your flesh. A bolt flies past from elsewhere nearby but you cannot track where it came from. The backstabber slides away from you and vanish from sight.
OOC:
End surprise round roll initiative.

OOC:
your foes aren't obvious to you, you'll need a perception check to spot them. Your up first!
Apr 15, 2017 3:46 am
Rawlyn whips back and forth, trying desperately to find the location of his foe. He does not sit still, moving away from where he was shot from putting himself behind cover best he can.

OOC:
You spy the two of them, they've moved to opposite sides of you so to charge one need to turn your back on the other.

OOC:
How far are they?
Apr 22, 2017 11:59 pm
OOC:
Lets call it 20 feet both ways
Apr 25, 2017 10:29 pm
Rawlyn breathes hard, his adrenaline adjusting to his situation. He takes out a small coin and flips it, deciding his course. "Left it is." He gets low takes a few breathes, and takes off. He sprints as hard as he can towards his opponent to his left, hoping the other misses. Once he gets to his foe, he strikes with his rapier with all the momentum he can.

Genisisect sent a note to Genisisect
You strike a solid blow with your rapier, but the hollow drops into hand crossbow and swipes at you with twin jagged arrows. A twang from behind you herald an oncoming bolt. A bolt drives into the small of your back and on of the daggers finds your flesh.
