Gameplay 3 - Demonic Petitioner

The cudgel quivers in her hand but she resists the command. She attempts to whack Jhishma but the patrol soldiers step between you, partially blocking her efforts.

The patrol moves to quiet things down, but the bar patrons seem to be enraged. They begin yelling, and run up to you all, surrounding the patrol as well.

The bar patrons made full moves and so won't attack this round. Each of you who isn't a dragonborn may now attack. Consider there are at least 2 who have moved up in front of each of you, and more coming.

Rolls

Wis save vs DC 13 - (1d20+2)

(19) + 2 = 21

Braining the Dragonborn, disadvantage - (1d20+4, 1d20+4, 1d6+2)

1d20+4 : (9) + 4 = 13

1d20+4 : (15) + 4 = 19

1d6+2 : (1) + 2 = 3

Given that the patrons look hostile but haven't taken any offensive action yet, Cyrind'ae thinks better of making an attack in front of the guards and instead casts Bane (CHA saving throw, subtract 1d4 to attack rolls and saving throws) as a 2nd level spell, targeting 4 random patrons so that their attacks are hampered when they perform them.
OOC:
I'm not entirely sure how to calculate spells' saving throw. on the AB column it gives ma a +6 and on the save column it gives me a +14... So does that means they must succeed at a CHA save DC 14?

OOC:
The base for all spell DCs is 8. Then you add your proficiency bonus (which is 2 for us, since we're at level 4). Then you add your spell casting ability modifier, which is 4 for you because you have an 18 Charisma. Result = 14, just as you guessed!

OOC:
Oh ok. So spell levels no longer count on the save DC.

"Stand down! Stand Down!" Owen shouts raising his blade once more, though to his eyes it is a mere angry mob. He will not strike down civilians who have yet to draw first blood. He hopes in his heart that it wont turn to bloodshed...
OOC:
Doing nothing this round, unless using intimidate or something I can help.

Rolls

Intimidate - (1d20+2)

(8) + 2 = 10

OOC:
Bane is in play.
Does Owen want to roll Intimate Intimidate then?
Jan 25, 2017 3:33 am
OOC:
Done! Though to little affect it seems.

"Brother, hold for now. None of us see these people as demons, with any of our powers. You said they look like demons when you hold sharpie...maybe sharpie is playing a trick on you. Sharpie does belong to a demon lord, after all."

To the group, "Form a circle facing outward -- we must protect each other's flank."

Feeling threatened, epecially from the armed newcommers, Grok is about to let go of his inner reins and unleash the rage at the demonic beings when Nar's words get to him. He halts, and shakes his head as if trying to dislodge something behind his ear. As he comes somewhat to his senses, he let's his training take over and heeds Nar's command. He takes up a protective stance with his back to Nar and the rest.
OOC:
Ready action to knock the orcus out of anyone who tries something shifty.

Also: Good thing you Nar and Owen spoke up, Grok would have gone all luchador on these guys if nobody said anyhting.
Jan 25, 2017 7:53 pm
Fritz heeds Nar's command and draws his shield.

The party takes up defensive positions, and the patrol intervenes to try and intimidate the would be battlers from starting something.

The patrons, spoiling for a fight, grumble at the odds arrayed against them, and turn back inside. The door closes behind them. The bar matron is shocked by this betrayal, and begins to laugh. A deep side-splitting laugh. Literally, her sides split and her clothes tear, as with each guffaw she grows several inches.

She stands before you, revealed to be a 12 foot tall giant demonoid, and as the patrol turns to face her, she waves her hand and they slumber to the ground, unconscious.

The demon before you is size large, and inexplicably is wielding a polearm (you'd swear the bar matron didn't have one of those). She has cast plot sleep which is an unbearably powerful GM intervention spell, where the patrol has been removed from the field of play.

As she has acted, you are all up again. She looks formidable /wink /wink /nudge /nudge.

Jhishma gasps.

The dragonborn looks at the towering demon, and then he looks at Grok and the diabolical dagger and he remembers the terrible hilt he himself still carries with him as a reminder...

The paladin puts his clawed hand on Grok's shoulder and lets his divine connection to the Lady of Winter flow forth, "Grok, remember your training. And, most importantly, remember who you are and defend what's good. Don't let this demon inside your head."
OOC:
Jhishma casts Protection From Evil on Grok.

"By the gods!" Owen exclaims, seeing the horrible transformation. He raises his shortsword, wishing deeply that he had grabbed his crossbow before investigating the commotion. Fearful of running forward at the monster he remains where he is and marks his foe and readies himself to fight.
OOC:
Cast Hunter's mark: +1d6 on damage to it.
Jan 28, 2017 10:13 pm
OOC:
Actually, she looks like a sexy version of your profile pic... :P
Cyrind'ae will cast Heroism on Grok, making him immune to fear and granting him 6 temporary hp every rounds at the start of his turn.
Jan 28, 2017 11:37 pm
Fritz clutches his necklace and whispers a small prayer.

"Apollo, guide the hands of my companions."

A yellow light envelopes Grok, Nar and Owen.
OOC:
Casting Bless on Grok, Nar and Owen. They each get to add 1d4 to attacks and saves until the spell ends (concentration up to 1 min.)

that would be 4 temp hp per round, not 6. sorry to be such a rules lawyer. :)

Feeling the warmth of Fritz' blessing, Nar brings himself up to his full height and faces the fiend.

"Foul fiend! Deceiver! You attempted to poison the town against my brother, and you shall pay!"

Under his breath he grows, "Votum est contra te," then he runs at the creature swinging his mighty maul!
[ +- ] Vow of Enmity
OOC:
I tried to include the -5 to hit and +10 damage on the attack, but it didn't work how I expected. With advantage, 6 & 5 to hit! horrible!

OOC:
Ay, yeah, ok, I see. Just the spellcasting adjustment, not the proficiency bonus as well.
Jan 29, 2017 12:31 pm
Bolstered by the support of his friends, and now sure that it's ok to bash heads out, Grok launches himself at the demonoid --dagger first.
OOC:
Grok Rages, so advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws, and +2 damage on melee attacks. He has resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
[ +- ] Making a note for myself, I also have
OOC:
Edit:
Attack: 15 vs AC
9 Damage (2 + 5 STR + 2 Rage, forgot to add this in the roller)
