Geran stretches, Well I feel a whole lot better, but I need to finish resting- my magic is back yes, and I'm well on my feet, but... he yawns, I'm still a little sore, and with everything coming up, I need to be my best. With that Geran grabs his gear, and starts fitting everything back on. This time, he hides the shield in his cloak pocket, making sure it doesn't show off like before. Shall we head off then?

You struggle for a few minutes, looking for a trail. Eventually you spot some blood on an otherwise lightly colored section of the weeds. Eventually you are able to follow it for a good 400 feet further away from the village, travelling southwest. At the end of it, you find a bloody tunic, some scraps of white linen bandage, and naught else but some bloody grass.

It doesn't look as much like people have left, just that they went home in a hurry. If you had to make a guess, having three members of the law slaughtered in their marketplace has put them slightly on edge and slightly in fear.

Kaio looks over the map again, No indication of where their forces were camped? I guess it's serving them well now. But Jean and Xaar didn't know either. These scouts were either good or lying.
Rixon takes in the scene and Kaio's words, nodding. As he surveys the scene for the any clues as to where their quarry could've headed, he thinks, There's a lake between us and Markindale. The Markindale force must have swung around to the south or north. But Xaar and company left town heading East... Why were they there? Rixon wonders.

As you look over the map, you think back to the larger picture of the world that you've seen throughout your youth. As can figure it, they are going to be heading along the mountain line at some point. They may be coming down from the north, and heading for Mellourahil, the town in the far south of Telluria. The alternative is that they sailed around the shore and are marching north to try doing an end around the mountains to assault the Tellurian capital from the west.

You set out from the Jailhouse, noting the same eerie quiet. In short order, you retrace most of your steps and within about half an hour, you find yourselves moving steadily toward the foothills of the mountains.

Yes. They’re likely to be here or here, Rixon marks locatons on the map. Since this fellow was headed roughly South, I’d wager he’s headed back to rendezvous with that larger force somewhere here.
Did that survival roll indicate where the injured guy went after he bandaged himself or how far behind him we are?

Two routes, for the two military possibilities:
The orange is heading south along the line to the town at the bottom. The blue is heading north along the line to attack the capital. They picked these routes, you would imagine, because they are relatively uninhabited.

You see none of the typical things that would suggest a large marching force off in the distance that you can see (about 3 miles out from where you are now. If you go up higher, you'll be able to see further.).

As you head off toward the mountains, by a different route, Geran peels off to the conflict site from earlier.

When you get to the site, you do see the one corpse you left there. The other dwarf is gone. You remember him escaping, but you don't know where to.
