Ahhh sorry, I misread your post/misinterpreted it. No, you get back to the marketplace and as you approach you notice that the bodies are gone. Instead, there are a pair of the guards there, patrolling with swords out. I (for some dumb reason) thought you were going to where the other party got attacked. My bad!

We'll be wandering out here all night, exposed. We have no lead, if this trail is as cold as it seems. Let's get some altitude, and if we can't see anything, we should go find our own camp and get some sleep.

The pair walk the nearest low ridge of the foothills, allowing a view out over the town and the lake beyond, the low-lying farms and fields south and east of town, as well as the mountains splaying out to the north and south. A breathtaking view in any other circumstance, but they were not here for the view.

You are now in the foothills and have found a reasonable place to make camp. There is a small empty cave and the whole site is nestled between a pair of hills, shielding it from view from from the road.

So much for that idea. Maybe they were lying? Anyhow, I don’t want to walk aimlessly until sunrise trying to find these guys. Any ideas how to narrow the search down?

Minor time fast forward. 2 hours later......
You all find a place where you can reliably make camp. A small copse of trees some 100' by 200' is there, likely a left over stand that hadn't been harvested yet. As you enter the wood, you find it perfectly suitable to shelter you and mask the light of any campfire you may decide to set. Geran catches up with all of you prior to finding the trees.

I just need to know if you are continuing to hunt the possible Markindale force or if you are going to try finding your compatriots and the camp.
