"Oh, that was easy," Ygne says with a triumphant look, casually walking over toward Ryte. She looks odd with one eye squeezed shut and the other squinting, but it was the only way she could concentrate with how her vision kept going in and out. "Oh, and I just meant you can't be one'a those lizard beasts." She clarifies.

"We doin' thi'h or wha'?!" Jarveena shakes her head at all the chit-chat. "Better gear up." she adds, picking through the equipment piles looking for arrows and anything else that might be useful.

Frick nods, then heads back to see what he can salvage of his gear.

When Ygne gets close to retrieve the coin, Ryte pulls his arm away, holding the coin away from her "Know your limits kid, don't let greed be your down fall." he holds his hand out, palm up, with the coin resting in the center.

Elspa casually mentions to Jarveena as she stands watch while others salvage, "They was on a boat when it crashed." She indicates Frick and Ygne, leaving Jarveena to suss out what that implies. Elspa looks over to Ryte. "What about that one? You live here, or you was on a boat, too?"
Mar 7, 2017 4:25 pm
"Doan matter now." Jarveena interrupts. "Wad'n them sunk th' Witch, an wad'n them killed the Cap'n." She takes a breath and squeezes her one eye shut, angrily willing herself not to cry.

"What?" Elspa asks, flatly looking to confirm what Jarveena said. "Who else? Anybody left besides us?"

Ygne pauses when Ryte pulls the coin away, looking like she can't decide whether or not she should get angry yet. Luckily, before she can respond too harshly, the coin is being offered once more. To Ryte's lesson, Ygne laughs, "I don't need to know shit about limits, 'long as I just make sure to have none." She swipes her hand out to snatch the coin out of Ryte's palm (assuming it remains offered to her), and chides him, "And don't call me kid. You're in the company of Ygne the Wicked now that ya paid your dues. And Ygne the Wicked isn't no kid." She turns her head and spits, looking over her shoulder at the others to see if everyone is ready.

Frick spends some time scavenging for supplies, starting with the cave that he woke up in.

Ryte gives no resistance to Ygne grabbing the coin and it is taken with ease "Tell me Ygne the Wicked, how wicked will you be when you collapse in the middle of a fight due to overexertion? You nearly fell on your way over here, stumbling after a single gold coin, with no idea if my intentions were pure. I don't give the piece to you to pay my dues, my dues have been paid..." he pulls his shirt to the side revealing a brand "I give it in hopes to teach you to not blindly walk at the promise of wealth. If I'm to be in your company I expect to be able to rely on you, as you can me; not me having to worry about saving your ass because you're too good for limits."

Ryte reaches into his pouch once more, pulling out another coin and dropping it into the sand below "As long as you ignore your limits, you will always be a kid to me." He places a hand on her shoulder before walking off the join up with the rest.

Elspa touches Jarveena's shoulder. "Come on," she says, a tad motherly. "You can tell me about it while we look for shelter. If these caves were being used by those frog-men, we'll want to head elsewhere."

The barbarian turns and addresses the others scavenging for materials. "Oy! Don't take too long. We gots to find someplace to hole up!"

The noise from the jungle draws to a close. There is no sign of living Troglodytes. The dead ones are a curious sight though; their chameleon skins are fading to black, but weird coloured patterns seem to be sporadically appearing in the pigment as their bodies' chemistry catches up with death.

Frick checks out the cave; 10 dead bodies and a pile of gear stacked high. Frick and Ygne can retrieve their starting gear in its entirety. Most of the rest of the pile consists of metal weapons (scimitars and daggers mostly) and various metal junk like belt buckles and barrel hoops.

Sticking out of the bottom of the pile you find a familiar item: the leather satchel that Jaracusso, captain of the Black Lotus, always wore around his shoulder. You open the water-tight case to reveal a leather bound journal with the initials "RB" inscribed on the cover in gold. A quick foray into the pages reveals a dense tome that will take time to read. Not all of it is written in low Atlantean either. As you flip through, a map falls out of the book and lands in the blood-soaked sand beside the dead bodies.

OOC:
If you want to spend more time scavenging the wreckage, each character can roll a 1d100 for each hour they spent searching the beaches. Just roll the dice and I'll tell you what you find.

Ygne snorts, "I'm not tired, or egg-ser..tion." She blinks both eyes wide open, as if to prove a point, "Just took a bump on the head, s'why I'm squinting, is all." At the rest of Ryte's lecture, Ygne stares at him with a blank expression. It's uncertain if anything he's saying is truly getting through to her or not, as one eyebrow slowly raises while the speech goes on. By the end of it, however, she looks right pissed, slapping Ryte's hand off of her shoulder. "I get it, you don't know me. So let me get one thing real clear for you: You won't have to save me. Ever." She shouts, spitting out the last word with a sneer, "And no, you probably shouldn't rely on me to help you with a righteous attitude like that."

She continues to shout, even as she scoops up the coin in the sand and follows after him back to the rest of the group, "You think you're just givin' a person - someone you don't even know - some fool's advice that don't apply to her, but here you are angering someone you're gonna need to watch over you while ya sleep; Someone with knives and a habit for cutting throats."

She mutters, quieter, but loud enough to be heard as she walks behind Ryte to meet with everyone else, "And if you think to call me kid again, you better have some steel in your hand when you do it."

With that, she walks past the group without so much as a glance, and begins to move toward whatever pile of wreckage she can find. She busies herself with scavenging, absolutely fuming too much to converse with the others.

Frick takes the satchel, the rest of his starting gear, and leaves the rest behind. "Hey, there's some daggers and swords and other shit in there if you wanna take a look," he says to the others as he gets back.

Jarveena nods. "Righ'. Les git th' other'h." She curls her thumb and forefinger into her mouth and whistles sharply. She beckons to the others to follow as she and Elspa start moving. "Aye, Leatha's dead. Trogs done her." she mutters, but says nothing more.

Elspa looks back to see if the others follow. Meanwhile, she speaks quietly with Jarveena, "Doubt it. These frogs weren't anything the Captain's steel couldn't carve. I think she died when the Witch died; would be like her to do that."
Mar 8, 2017 4:44 pm
Jarveena shrugs. "Coulda bin outnumber'd. I foun' her head cut off. Or s'like ye said, she drowned an' they cut her after. Yer righ' she woulda gone down wi' th' Witch. Aye."

Ygne's hour of search reveals no useful items, but she comes up with a few excellent retorts as she rehearses future exchanges with Ryte in her mind.
