Gilly kneels in the stern of the boat, draws her bow, and nocks an arrow, calling out, "No closer," as sternly as she can in her tiny little voice.
OOC:
Holding action pending them coming closer or the archer shooting as someone, at which point she will shoot the closest bandit.
Apr 20, 2017 3:40 am
"G-Gilly?" Robin asks hesitantly, looking over his shoulder at his weapon-wielding sibling. He looks back forward, making sure to keep close to the ranger. He did not wish for a fight, but if someone came close, he would do what he can to help.
OOC:
Only going to move if Thovetar does. I'll ready an action to draw and attack someone if they engage myself or Thovetar.
Apr 20, 2017 6:50 am
Inar readies his bow to take a shot the moment the bandits do anything hostile.
OOC:
Holding my action to shoot if they make a move to attack, will target one of the ones approaching Thovétar (will roll now just in case)

Rolls

Bow attack (if needed), damage - (1d20+3, 1d6+1)

OOC:
Piloting Thovetar for the moment.
Thovetar draws his longsword as the men wade toward the boat, a stern look on his face. Although there are a couple bows their direction, they feel strongly like the outnumber you 2:1, as they discount the hobbits as mere children -- perhaps dwarf children. "What? You've got a bow in the hands of that child?" they say, and "Ooo. I'm so scared! I'm ready to run all the way to Gondor!" They laugh roughly and continue towards you.
OOC:
Gilly - how 'bout an attack roll? Figure the targets are Teocyn, Saedd, Gwullyn and Addreoryn (I used Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta and threw it through a random name generator for Middle Earth. I'll assume Inar will be attacking Teocyn.
Thovetar wields his weapon with a single hand, ensuring he keeps what balance he can on the rocky boat.
OOC:
Edit: Oof. Sorry Thovetar. If you catch this before Gilly rolls you can roll over me!

Thovetar's swing is ungainly and causes the boat to wobble unfortunately. Seeing their colleague engaged with the bandits, both Inar and Gilly let fly with arrows and two of them promptly sprout from Teocyn. His eyes widen as the child lands a hard hit on him and he slows pace and begins to fall back towards the shoreline, clearly unwell.
OOC:
Due to the rocking of the boat, next round attacks from the boat (Inar and Robin) will be at a disadvantage. Teocyn takes 9 points of damage which leaves him with 2 more. Robin -- you had a draw-and-attack, so you can trigger if you'd like on one of the other three candidates - as this is coincident with Thovetar's current attack -- you do not yet suffer disadvantage.
May 20, 2017 11:14 am
Robin unfortunately hesitates as an arrow flies past. The moment for his strike missed, he simply shouts, "We aren't children! We are Hobbits! And... and specifically, we are Hobbits who know how to fight, as well as any other, and.. and so you should leave!"
OOC:
Robin isn't particularly persuasive, but I'll make a roll just in case.

Inar pulls another arrow from his quiver, cursing at the movement of the boat whilst he nocks another arrow ready to shoot at the bandits if they try anything

Trying to clip one of the bandits not yet engaged in melee if possible edited as noted below

OOC:
I've lost a little of my place in things -- but will call the prior round, your ability to act while they closed. So this is the first real round where the enemy can take action against you.
Robin's words ring loud and clear across the quiet lapping waters of the lake. The bandits before you stop in their tracks and to a man they show fear. "Hobbits! Everyone knows they're cursed!" Weapons are up -- but now, instead of menacing, they seem defensive. For the poor Teocyn, his colleagues begin to give him a wide berth -- seeing as he's been hit by a HOBBIT ARROW.

Teocyn pales more than he had before, swooning. Seemingly convinced of his impending death. "C-c-can you remove your curse from the arrow?"
OOC:
Inar - do you want to hold on that shot or retcon an action/statement?
Jun 4, 2017 6:54 pm
OOC:
I'll hold it for now and count that as my next shot if they try anything....will edit the post to retcon a wee bit

Gilly lifts her chin defiantly, "Give us your weapons, and I will remove the curse. But you will need to be more wary in the future, and I think a change of occupation is in order."

Rolls

Persuasion - (1d20+5)

(17) + 5 = 22

Robin very nearly corrected the thieves' misconception before, in his hesitation, the moment is lost to Gilly's offer. Holding his tongue, he looks nervously back to Gilly with an expression that says "What are you saying?"
Jun 7, 2017 3:38 am
Teocyn appears conflicted -- but the opportunity to have the curse lifted is enough to cause him to set down his weapons. His three companions however are obviously disinclined to give up their hard-earned weapons. They also make sure to give Teocyn a wide berth and once they're sufficiently far away they're certain a Hobbit-cursed arrow cannot hit them, they turn and tromp off, leaving Teocyn alone with the four of you.
Jun 7, 2017 9:32 am
Gilly reaches into her pack and pulls out a small bag, which she tosses to Teocyn. "This is the antidote. Mix it into boiling water at sunset, and drink the whole cup."
Jun 8, 2017 3:56 am
Teocyn catches the bag and runs after his colleagues. Leaving the four of you in your boats with a few weapons cast off near your fire...
OOC:
25 XP apiece for that encounter. What next? Care to complete your lunch? Or is discretion the better part of valor?
