Act II: Ill Fortunes (Part 2, the morning after)

Mar 22, 2017 10:23 pm
You wake up at the church next morning, glad to see no other agents of Strahd paid you any visit this night. You are now free to discuss your plans for the day.
Mar 22, 2017 11:18 pm
Having survived another night among the company of humans, Veroth rises and stretches out his wings. Gathering his weapons and resecuring them to his person, he checks the others for signs of life. "Huuu-mansss, what delays beset us today? What next before we can seek an end to this plague of undead?" He fiddles with his Lightbringer pendant, and hops from foot to foot.
Mar 23, 2017 12:53 pm
"Yes brothers, what items from our agenda would we like to tackle this day? Perhaps figuring out this amulet that allows us to heal our sickness? And then beginning the quest for the sun sword?"
Mar 23, 2017 1:03 pm
Darren removes the amulet from his neck and places it back on, hoping it will cure his sickness.
Mar 23, 2017 1:07 pm
"Please, Brother Silversmith, allow me to take another look at the amulet." Weiryn says after Roland mentions the magical item.

Face it, Weiryn...you're pushing yourself too hard. You never forget about things like this... he thinks to himself as he prepares to study the trinket.

Oh yeah, Darren had the amulet on, well he will have woken up fine, not feeling sick anymore, so no need to play around with the amulet anymore.

Alright. Weiryn discover that the pendant is a pendant of good health. Once per day, it automatically remove any diseases the character would contract. If suffering from any pre-existing disease, the pendant removes it (or a random one if suffering from more than one disease). It has to be worn in order to work. It also radiates a faint aura of conjuration (healing) if it is of any interest to you.
Mar 23, 2017 2:14 pm
After studying the amulet for a moment, Weiryn will speak up. "It would appear that this is a Pendant of Good Health. The magic contained therein will allow it's wielder to be purified of any diseases that he may have contracted. It only works once per day, though. It might be necessary to rotate the amulet until I have the ability to cure diseases through my own power."

Passing the amulet to Roland, Weiryn continues, "As for our next step, Brother Veroth, that is a good question. We should begin gathering anything we can to aid us in our mission to end the plague here. The Sun Sword, the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind...these are two powerful artifacts could prove very useful, if we are to end Strahd and bring peace to the region. If we find and destroy the werewolves responsible for the death of Jeref Maurgen, that will prove advantageous as well...anything we can do to weaken Strahd and empower ourselves.

"We have an idea of where the Sun Sword and the Holy Symbol are...the Holy Symbol is, supposedly, in a marsh downriver from the Vistani encampment. Madame Eva mentioned that the Sun Sword is down the western path at the crossroads. I'll admit, I am at a loss as to where to find the werewolves. What say you, brothers? Find the Sun Sword, find the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind, or find the werewolves?"
Mar 23, 2017 4:25 pm
"I say we make for the holy symbol. We will still have to get it linked back to Irena, which will take time that we can use to find the sun sword. I have a feeling the werewolf issue will bring itself to us."
Mar 23, 2017 7:14 pm
"Having it bound to the Lady Ireena will be a problem. Remember brother, the madame said that it must sit on the throne of an ancient kingdom before it's power can be restored. Ireena has been visited by Strahd at least once already...I shudder to think of what would happen if we took her to Castle Ravenloft.

"Hmm...she also mentioned that the 'lord of the castle seeks a lady'. We know that Ireena has been bitten before. It may be that Strahd wishes to turn her and make Ireena his consort. No, I'll not risk her soul in that way. When we go to awaken the Holy Symbol's power, we do so without Ireena.

"Here is what I propose: We first seek the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind. With it in hand, we make our way to the West to seek this remnant of the past that holds the Sun Sword. According to Madame Eva, both must be activated somewhere within Castle Ravenloft; the Holy Symbol on the throne, and the Sun Sword somewhere deep within the crypts. And before we move on the Castle, we should take a few days to prepare ourselves for combat with an undead foe."

"The werewolves and the fate of Maugren were my primary objective here. But their story seems to be intertwined with Strahd." Ujjaya adds.

Darren nods, "Holy Symbol it is," he agrees, then holds up the amulet, "Who would like to be cured of their weakness first?"
Mar 23, 2017 7:24 pm
Weiryn nods to Roland, indicating that he should take the pendant first. "Go ahead, brother Roland. I'm well enough."

"Plan sounds good as any to me. Eh, brother Weiryn. About that restoration spell..."
OOC:
however, after a nights rest Durgrim should be down to 2 STR damage now (1 healed from the wand yesterday and 1 from a nights rest), so I can manage if we have better use for that slot

Since Darren was wearing it when he woke up, I did specified that Darren was not sickened anymore, thus the use of the amulet for the day has already been used. It's automatic, no command word, no conscious activation on your part. So Darren has been cleansed for today, tomorrow, somebody else can use the amulet.

Edit, you can always examine what was found in the alcove in the altar as well as the equipment of the two deceased Lightbringers...

"I say before we push on for anything else, we take a full inventory of everything we have on hand. We need to see if we need anything else before we progress.

Roland begins an inventory of all the pieces they have acquired from their exploits.
Mar 27, 2017 1:33 pm
"Yesss, is good plan." Veroth will carefully search the alcove more thoroughly.

As Roland carefully takes out the equipment taken from Danovich and the basement of the church, Veroth flies up to the small alcove about, taking his time going through boxes and crates this time. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much of use up there, as he only finds old, worn out or broken clerical implements, moldy clerical vestments, and personal baubles which might have belonged to past generations of priests...
Mar 27, 2017 3:44 pm
Weiryn takes a moment to aid Roland in his inventory, checking over the items carefully to see if they may be of further use.

Taking 10 on a Spellcraft to identify anything that might be useful. That'll give me a Spellcraft of 23.

The torn page which depicted the steps necessary for the construction of a blaspheme does not seem to be magical in and of itself, but does radiate some residual aura of enchantment, necromancy evil, and transmutation, as if it had been ripped from a larger magical tome...

The gold chalice, the silver bells and Danovich's journals taken from the alcove in the altar are all non-magical, but the 3 potions of cure moderate wounds are.

Danovich had a scroll of cure moderate wounds, a +1 full plate, a normal heavy steel shield, a masterwork morningstar, and 397 gp.

As for the equipment of the former Lightbringers, there is a mundane half-plate, a +1 chainmail, a +2 greatsword, 2 scrolls of cure light wounds, and a scroll of lesser restoration.

As Veroth finishes his search of the upper alcove and Weiryn finishes his analysis of the magic items, there is a knock on the door, and the small voice of a woman.

"Hello? Are you okay in there? There are the dead bodies of three giant wolves out there..."
