Kray parries again, reducing the Goat Man's spear thrust into a nick. Squared off against Bird, he slips a thrust toward Bull in an effort to help Talius put him down.

Alright, Goat hits for 14 damage. Kray will use Reaction to Parry with a Maneuver. I'll see what the result is before I even decide what he might do next (if he doesn't stop enough damage, he's down and out).

14 minus 12=2 damage. Cut in half for Raging =1. Kray is down to 3. hp. Using Second Wind bonus action 1d10+3 hp. Then he'll attack Bull (since Kray and Talius are next to one another, Bird on me and Bull+Bear on Talius). In other words, Kray doesn't have to disengage to attack Bull, I assume. Bull's already messed up, hope I can help Talius put him down before Kray hits the ground.

Nice Dice on the 2nd Wind! Oh well... 7 hp is better than it was! But damn... these guys are pouring on two attacks per turn each. Maybe killing Fingol will nix that shit.

As Thorn’s blade clears the last large board, he sees his quarry in front of him, arrow knocked and pointed at the main entrance. A woman, beautiful and mostly naked, bound and tied to a shelf behind him. Probably Rutcrana. Bat belongings scattered and littered all over the room. I should look for something pretty to give to the quartermaster. His eye catches the hilt of a knife in a leather scabbard hanging at the blue-faced elder’s side, and his brain flashes and recognition. Yshala fuck me.

Thorn leaps through the opening, jumping over the new pile of rotted siding before him and nimbly closing the distance between himself and Fingol. As fast as Fingol swings to meet the threat, Thorn is faster, arcing his blade from the left to bring it down on the old man, positioning himself to Fingol’s left, approaching the restrained woman. Fingol instinctively braces himself against the giant sword racing towards him from the right, but the blade doesn’t hit him. Instead, Thorn brings his blade up and under the woman’s bonds, cutting her free.

The sword continues its arc, now approaching the surprised Bat from the other side, as Thorn aims Urdav’s sword at the neck of the the man carrying OOC
Urdav’s seax.
OOC:
This is a Feinting Attack, then using my Action to cut the woman’s ropes. Then using Action Surge to make an Attack with advantage, and adding the Superiority Die to the damage.

Edit: I was sure I had added +6 to both d20 rolls. Oh well, it was the lower roll anyway.

EDIT: Xorthan, have Thorn kill that motherfucker Fingol. It's rough down here (our 3 attacks as a group per turn vs the 4 NPC's 8 per turn... looks like they're level 5's or cranked up on demon juice).

Thorn

Thorn's fluid feinting technique works. His first swing cuts through the rope, which was pulled tight as the woman leaned outward away from the shelving in the action. Though her wrists are still bound together with a thick wrap of ropes, the woman is no longer tethered to the immovable furniture.

Hit attempt successful, because of Advantage from Feint.

Thorn's second swing connects as well. Though Fingol leans back to avoid getting his head cleaved off entirely, the edge of the blade still cuts the Dannein's upper chest and shoulder, tugging and breaking through several of his necklaces and talismans. Some of the beads rattle and fall to the floor.

With the firing distance to Thorn now gone, Fingol's bow does him little good at what is now point blank range. With surprising speed and agility, the witchman tucks in his bow and arrow, ducks low, pivots to the side, and then dives over a wooden counter, knocking over several items on top, towards the back of the house.

Now separated from Thorn by the large furniture, Fingol does not slow at all. He shifts directions quickly again to dart to the left, disappearing into another room to the north. Thorn soon hears heavy footfalls, the sound of Fingol stomping quickly down a flight of stairs.

Evasive movement serves as opponents complete Action set for the round. No Opportunity Attacks by Reaction available because opponent applied Disengage.
Apparently using some sore of Dash movement as well to dart away.

The Dannein woman, shoved back a ways during Fingol's leaping escape, speaks to Thorn definitively. Her voice has the urgency of the situation, but she is not shouting or frantic. "He descends stairs to an exit below, moving north. He will hide in the cover if he can, and then make his way to boats tied to a dock on the north bank over the short rise." As she talks, she holds her bound hands out, motioning for Thorn to use his blade to get her completely free and the use of her hands. Thorn uses the large sharp blade carefully, and quickly starts sawing through the restraining rope wrap, listening to her words as he does.

"He is Fingol. A treacherous biting snake. Kill him if you must, or bring him back in captivity. He must not slither away."she continues.

Her voice is beautiful. She is speaking Yuoric, very capably, but with an attractive Dannein accent. She peers deeply into Thorn's eyes. Thorn, working quickly to cut the ropes without cutting the woman's soft wrists, cannot help but look back. She has large brown eyes. Her thick black hair is disheveled and falling around her face. There are bruises around her eyes and cheeks. Her bottom lip is split, certainly the result of a strike.

The woman holds Thorn's gaze for the last seconds as she shifts her hands to finish the rope slice herself. When the ropes fall to the ground, the woman immediately floats in close to Thorn. Before he can adjust, her body is pressed up against him. Thorn feels her tits on his chest and one of his arms. Her soft hands hold both sides of his face and caress the back of his head. Her full soft lips press against his in a passionate kiss.

Holding the moment ever so slightly, the woman then steps back. Her eyes still fixed on Thorn's. She could not look more delicious.

"Go. Be wary and prevail. I will face the Glaakieou alongside your comrades." She steps away, her bare feet stepping gracefully. "Come back to me, my savior."

With that, the woman finally looks away and begins to reach purposefully into cabinets and through drawers around the room, grabbing various items, one is a necklace that she throws on over her head.

Thorn just realizes that he said nothing through the whole interchange so far.
OOC:
That was her actions in full. A lot of writing but all of this is still occurring over very little time passage, still only seconds.

I know that seemed like a take-over in a way. It was sort of supposed to be. I'm not going to send any demand for a Charm save or anything, but the whole quick interchange should feel something like that, briefly at least. To be clear: I'm not saying she used magic. In fact, it is completely explainable in a natural way: She is just super hot, maxed CHA, and has animal magnetism sexuality off the charts.
It's up to Thorn now if he wants to change the mood and get angry, bite back, refuse the orders, etc. but that is how the scene just turned so far.

OOC:
... When the Phantom attacks the net does that trigger Sentinel?
OOC:
Hmm. Tough one.
On one hand, I might be convinced that it is in the spirit that a Sentinel has developed an ability "... to take advantage of every drop in any enemy’s guard."
On the other hand, I think that the intention was that it was an attack on a creature in the idea of combat and positioning, not necessarily just any action of using a weapon as a tool to cut an innate object.
Also it opens up the flood gates for getting an extra attack every time someone cuts through a net, forever - a pretty big development.
I need to think it over before making a once-for-all-time ruling.

BUT... on the fly in limited time, I will say yes for this one-time incident vs. Phantom... in congeniality of slight favor to PCs on tie-breakers, and to try to keep the ball rolling for the day. We can talk about it again later for an overall call.

Dice rolls for Parry maneuver first & attacks vs Bull, then the narrative post.
EDIT: Crit Damage for Falcata Yatagan.
EDIT 2: Parry Result: (10-9 damage) = 1, divided by 2 = .5, round down per rules = 0 damage from Bull's Axe. Kray returns the favor with 19 damage with a crit from his Yatagan.

Although battered and staggered, two decades of Mercon training and experience kick in as Kray turns the Bull's axe away with a last second flash of his falcata, narrowly buying himself a few more moments to avoid being face down breathing the muck of Old Island. Reflexively he returns the favor, once again directing his Yatagan in a vicious upward thrust toward the Bull's sternum, followed close behind by the furious slash of his falcata.

At the moment, I think Thorn believes his objective (to get Fingol) to align perfectly with hers!
Thorn gazes briefly at this vision of a woman in front of him. He had noticed her beauty when he first saw her, but now that she has held him and kissed him, he realizes she is truly mesmerizing. Thoughts of Shen Lain flee from his mind.

This is no time to sit and salivate.

He shakes his head and sheaths his sword, running as quietly as he is able to the same room Fingol ran through. He descends the stairs and finds the exit the woman spoke of. He draws a handaxe and cautiously pokes his head out, hoping to see Fingol hiding nearby, preferably within throwing distance.

Thorn heads down the stairs. They lead to a nasty low room and wooden hallway, the runs briefly and then opens up as more like an under deck shelter. Thorn is soon outside, on the other side (north side) of the cabin, coming out from under a deck that is similar to the one on the south side, though it is lower because of the upward slope of the ground rising higher here on this side.

Thorn looks around carefully. He can barely hear sounds of the commotion from this side of the house. It is quiet here.

Staying out of sight as best as he can, Thorn transitions from the house to a small crumbling shed that is nearby to the north.
He sees no sign of the witchman, though the adversary must be hear somewhere.

Thorn sees a rise of the land, a small ridge that goes up at a peak, which roughly marks the edge of the wood line, separating from the cleared area around the witch hut. Carefully and quietly, Thorn moves up and over the small ridge, into the forest.

Thorn sees the thickly covered shore of the waterline running off to his left and arching across to the north and east as it stretches out. Moving from tree to tree, slowly, Thorn passes through a small thicket. The foliage thins a bit on the other side, and he sees a small inlet of the shoreline. Down a gradually slant, about 30 meters ahead, Thorn can see a small weather worn dock. 2 old banged up boats are turned over, hulls up, at the edge. One boat is right side up in the water, shifting back and forth softly. Thorn can tell it was just recently thrown in from the bank.

Knowing that Fingol is somewhere nearby, Thorn scans the area intently. The observant Yuoric spots his enemy.

Fingol is hiding in a small thicket, behind a medium sized tree, further to the west than Thorn may have expected. Thorn cannot see all of his features, but he suspects that the big Dannein has not yet spotted him.

Fingol is about 40 feet away. His bow is still in his hand. A small trail runs between the two men, leading from the hut, over the high ridge to the south, and to the small pier. There are several areas of cover and concealment between Thorn and Fingol, but Thorn knows that it will be a great challenge to approach the witchman unseen.
OOC:
I let that Stealth roll ride for a long movement. To try to get up closer than this will take another fresh roll if that is Thorn's intention. Otherwise, realize that it will be pretty easy for Fingol to get off a shot of that arrow before Thorn can close the ground.
I'm game for hearing whatever strategy you want. We can talk it out to see what happens.

Items to wrap up Top of Round 3:

Here's what I think will close it out:

Jabes gets a one-time clearance to get a Reaction Attack on Phantom (a bit retroactive, since it is when Phantom cut the net)

Jabes needs to make a STR Athletics roll to contest Bird's Grapple attempt. The number is 18.

Jabes, if you are still in contact, send it.
If no comms from busy Jabes by late night tonight or early tomorrow morning, can someone on the team help a brother out and send these rolls so that I can incorporate developments tomorrow?

After that:
I think the door is opened for Bottom Round 3, PCs attack.
Kray is already on the boards - throwing down that Critical with the Murmaran Yatagan (nasty!), so I'll be ready to gather in results with that as the first BR3 entry starting tomorrow.

Dang, this is a knock-down drag-out grudge match at this point.
May 12, 2017 12:42 am
Am I right in understanding that Fingol is between Thorn and the dock? I'm imagining Thorn, still hiding, with a small trail leading roughly to Fingol, 40 feet away, and then along to the shoreline and the dock another 60 feet or so beyond Fingol.

Edit: Also, is this difficult terrain, or if Thorn rushed him would he get a full 30 feet in?

Yeah, that's about right. Thorn is offset from the trail to the right (east), while Fingol is off to the left (west) of the trail.

No difficult terrain if Thorn breaks off back onto the trail to charge. If he trailblazes through a direct line, thick bush will probably slow him down nearer to Fingol.
