Bear
TR5 (cont'd)

Bear grips Qiu face-to-face. With another unreal thrust of unnatural movement, he propels himself, Qiu, and the ex-goat further out into the water.

With Grapple secured, Bear makes Movement towards the lake.

Qiu feels the shifting feeling in his stomach for the second time and feels himself hurled backwards. He is encased in a blast of water, that then collapses in all around him, filling the temporary vacuum of space.

Bear, Qiu, and Goat are completely submerged beneath the dark waters of An Tulacheo, the Burial Murk.

Alligators
TR5

In the darkness, wrapped up in the hold of both Goat and Bear, Qiu suddenly feels the surge of the alligators crashing into him, jaws and teeth snapping in the darkness of the murk.

Talius and Kray

Kray from back near the base of the deck, and Talius from a closer vantage near the edge of the lake, see a huge spray of water launch up into the air. Talius sees it clearly yet again. The Bear man held onto Qiu and was seemingly PULLED outward from the shore and into the water! It was not the movement of a jump, it was the movement of a shift - like the slide of a game piece from one square to another.

The plume of water rises on all sides of a cavity track cut by the large mass of bodies sliding out ward, and then crashes back down to fill the vacuum. Some of the alligators are even pulled into the falling flow of water. The entire area of water near the shore becomes a churning roll of mud, debris, and rough waves.

All three of the men are gone. Talius sees the scaly backs of one or two alligators briefly, but then they are submerged as well.

Talius is at the very edge of the water now. From the trajectory of the last position seen, he estimates that Bear,
Qiu, Goat and Alligators are about 40+ feet away from the waterline.

What a guy! Complimentary even when his character is under water, double wrestle locked by barbarians, encircled by alligators.
I don't deserve to work with such a kind and gracious player.

I've got Jabes' entry. No prob there btw, Jabes. Everyone else is welcome to rock it as they see fit for BR5.

X, I know I owe you a response on Thorn's last. I'll try to post it up tonight, but there is a strong likelihood that I'm out of comms until tomorrow am.

You know, I think there's something about using Reaction and then it being a reflex to follow through with the rest of your turn. I did the same damn thing a couple of rounds ago.

Waiting to see how things unfold with Ivor, and especially Qiu (who has problems, plural) before Kray makes a move. What he does will depend on how things play out. EDIT: Right... Ivor went. Good luck CB, that's a shite situation Qiu is in.

Did they just fall into the water? Get rammed, by the Bull maybe? Was that a sideways leap, like that skull man and bird man? Too many questions, need to focus. Letting go of the goat, Qiu feels at his belt and is emboldened to find his handaxe where he left it. He had worried that the rush of water had ripped the weapon free. Kicking and twisting in the bubbling murk, Qiu fights blinded and beset on all sides. Alligators ram into him and nearly latch on to his leg and another to his shield. A flash remembering the odd barb or bone sticking out of the Bear's neck. Pain. Must cause pain. Swinging wildly in great arcs, to both ward off the alligators and to distract the Bear from Qiu's true target. Qiu shifts his grip on the handaxe to hold the back of the blade. He then leans in, reaching over the shoulder of the bear and attempts to bring his handaxe down against the barb to scrape deep and hard, hoping to extract the barb and do what damage he can.
OOC:
Feint combat maneuver to gain advantage on the attack, cancelling out disadvantage for fighting blinded.

Edit: Dang.

Standing over Bull, momentarily satisfied by the fallen and bloody mess it had been reduced to, Kray's attention couldn't help but be stolen away, suddenly drawn to Qiu and the rest hurtling through the air.

Fates be fucking damned!

As they splashed into the water he quickly realized they were beyond his reach, and he counted on Talius to make the difference. Reflexively he drew his bow and looked for a target.

Not a damn thing Kray can do about Qiu's situation atm. It would take two (or more?) turns just to get there, especially since swimming is part of it now. Going to position Kray to get a better LOS on the deck where Ivor's fighting, since I'm sure Kray can at least hear the sound of him going at it with Bird. Keeping angles optimal, moving away from Fingol's place while maintaining distance to lakeshore. Like any smart shooter, Kray will make sure that any approach to him has maximum open ground and visibility so opponents can't just come around a corner (or over a building, etc) and melee him.

Based on your description of things J, I'd like to think Kray can get a shot off on Ivor's opponent, Bird. Low as hell on hp (7), maneuvers, no Second Wind left, no cleric (that's new!!) Kray is going to switch to ranged support here to give him a better shot at staying in the fight as an asset, continuing to do damage (his fighting style is archery, so that helps). Wherever Kray can put a hurt on someone something, he'll do it, so if he can't get a bead on Bird, let's consider his shot ready for the first guy he sees.

[note="Xorthan"]Riposte miss.
Hit with Feint effort. Damage recorded.

The masked man is quick and dodges back away from the first strike, but Thorn's feinting maneuver draws out a mistake from his foe.
Thorn's second swing cuts into the costume, though Thorn is unsure of how severe of an injury it causes.

OOC:
Yeah, I can definitely see that. Mechanics summary below of what I think is a good position and gets to what you have described.
Movement through Difficult Terrain, slanting climb up root bank, to base of the large tree that is structurally integrated with the house.
Poised for a position of partial cover if desired.
Range to target (Bird): approx 25'.
Low ground pit separates shooter from the deck and target (and ally Ivor).
Shooter positioned away from the house/deck of the south side, with Movement access to loop around to the other side (the east and north side, the still unknown side at this point) of the tree and house structure.
Arrow shot a hit.

Kray climbs up the slippery root bank and takes position near the base of the large tree, separated from the deck by a pit of low ground. From there he has a clear shot at the bird costumed man who is fighting against Ivor.

Kray draws back an arrow. Release. Hit.
The bird shifts at the last minute to avoid getting the arrow landed in his chest, but it still wedges in the edge of his robes, hopefully in the edge of his torso too.

Qiu
BR5

Attack attempt a miss.

Qiu attempts to hit the bear in the upper back region, surmising that the bear masked man may have a similar wound and protrusion that he saw on the unmasked goat man.

In the severe conditions, the effort proves too difficult. Qiu's strike hits the back of the bear's heavy hide mask and his axe blade is repelled.
OOC:
I understand the spirit of what you are trying to do, CB. Before your next move, I'll try to write back some summary and review of what is going on and how I think it applies to the mechanics, so that you are getting every chance to capitalize on any benefits by rules and by the realism of the scene. For example, I think we can bypass the Darkness Disadvantage if these assholes remain locked onto you - seems reasonable that you know where they are at least enough to give it a good shot on their anatomy. Let's both read up on Underwater Combat again, see if there is a way to avoid any of those Disadvantages by certain weapon selection or something else - just something to think about.

@DMJ Qiu has 5 javelins clipped to the back of his shield. While stable mountings, they weren't designed to withstand a torrent of water. I am rolling a d6 to see how many were ripped off and lost to the murk.

Edit: Stick your hand in the fire willingly and you are going to get burned. Lolz

Adding reaction to snatch them from the water...

Ahh come on, bro.
Qiu feels all of his javelins swirling around in the water, crashed free from the shield carrier and some dropping away in the murk. He knows he has to act quickly if he wants to gain control of one of the weapons before they are all dispersed in the churn.
Reaction right now.
Dex Check, DC 8 to grab 1 Javelin out of 6 before it drops out of reach (using the shield hand carefully, hugging the javelin to the body temporarily, may need to be transferred to other hand currently grasping Hand Axe).
DC 16 snatches 2 Javelins (1 in a solid grip alongside the handle of the shield, the other hugged inward to the body as described above).
OOC:
Hmm. Check everyone's pockets and ankle straps for a spare scuba knife...?
OOC:
If it makes you feel any better, Goat lost his (underwater friendly) spear in this whole water wrestle ballet too.

OOC:
Ox, Talius has option to act for BR5. Apologize, but I read back over my review post on previous page and it had an error. I have since corrected, with strike-through to mark it. It said that Talius would reach the knee-high position where Bear/Qiu/Goat were by BR6. That was wrong. I meant by BR5. So that is where we are in time right now.

The change that happened since, a dramatic one during TR5, was that Bear launched the whole pack of wrestlers out to sea by approx 40 additional feet. So even though that crowd is gone, Talius is there on the edge of the waterline and can take Action fully from there. His judgement call is that those guys ended up out about 50' from the waterline - underwater.

Sorry about the confusion, but it's Talius' go now to round out BR5. Let us know what happens for him. I will be out of comms for a few hours at least, but will try to get back on tonight (US EST) to enter bad guy actions for TR6.

Converting to Note for Qiu/Goat/Bear/Alligators, to impose terror and mystery on the rest of the crowd.
I am going to leave the roll titles for transparency and to keep track between the both of us, and I know they can kind of read between the lines by reading those, but I am closing off the narrative and mechanic description to everyone except me and you.
OOC:
Also proceeding with TR6 Actions from your bad guy team, in the interest of keeping progress. I cannot fathom any way that Talius can influence these moments from 50' through water back on the surface. Will gladly edit if he surprises me and does so.
Bear
TR6

The bear releases his battle axe, letting the heavy weapon sink to the depths of the lake floor. He tries to strengthen his grip on Qiu and bend his arms backwards and body forward, apparently trying to make Qiu into a better target for another attack by Bear's ally.
Bear does Help Action, to give Advantage to adjacent attacker.

Goat
TR6

The unmasked goat, with his grip around Qiu's legs and hip area, lets loose of his sickle and draws his last weapon - a long knife. He stabs violently at Qiu's torso.

Attack 1: Dagger
Attack 2: Dagger
Disadvantage for Darkness not applicable. These monster-men do not currently use eyesight (as Qiu has seen, Goat's eyes are rolled back in his head).
Advantage applied to first Dagger Attack, per Help Action by ally.

Move Action by both opponents is to swim as best as possible to deeper waters, further from shore.

Stab 1: Hit 23, damage 8
