Ahh. OK. Guess I missed that detail on first read, but understand now. Mid-Action weapon procurement. That's a pretty cool move!
Is Maeriks turning cool all of the sudden? Are you going to start modeling him after John Wick?

OOC:
Assuming 22 is a hit. Can adjust if necessary.
Bryn begins Restrained Condition.

DO11: Spear Attack. Capitalizing on Restrained condition of target, Attack made at Advantage.

One of the Deep Ones again moves in with a net. He entangles Bryn within it and snatches up the sides, tightening the hold. The other Deep One moves in ruthlessly to stab at Bryn while he is immobilized.

The Deep One with the net and Bryn cinched within it gives a strong kick with webbed feet, seeking to drag Bryn away from the fray as a captive.

DO12 Movement Action. Withdraw backwards, half Swim Rate.
DO11 Movement Action. Seeks to cover any rescue attempt or counter-strike, and then controlled withdrawal with partner.

DO8: Movement/Interact with Environment to reposition netted dead companion. Positions between Ivor and net/body. Follow with Dagger/Claw Attack.
DO7: Spear Attack

Their team numbers recently thinned, the Deep Ones facing Ivor lash out against the deadly barbarian. One of the Deep Ones grabs hold of the net that encases his dead comrade, pulls the body and net backwards in the water away from Ivor, and uses the momentum to surge forward - seeking to separate Ivor from immediate access to the dangerous net.

Deep Ones vs. Kray
BR2

DO3: Leads team assault with Grapple Attempt. Awaiting results to continue with other Actions.
DO2, DO4: Awaiting Grapple attempt results.

The strong creature who Kray has assaulted tries again to get a secure hold on the Yuoric warrior as the others level in with weapons.
OOC:
Need Resist Grapple attempt comparison against result below.
OOC:
What this 3-monster squad is trying to do is let the wrestler get a victim and pull him away. If successful, the non-wrestlers are trying to cover the escape positionally. But either way, whether Kray is pulled away or not, they are also trying to get in some shots, so I'm going to post those Attacks and we can fill in the Movement details and ramifications after the Grapple Resist is in.

Transition to TR3

Ez, you can update us on the finer details of Kray's fight. In the meantime, I'd like to open up a shift to close out Round 2 and let everyone start telling what happens for TR3.

I say close out Round 2 because I suspect their are some possibilities of Reactions on Opportunity Attacks, with some good guys and bad guys moving around the confusing tight squeeze battle pool. Especially Sentinels may see openings to which their Sentinel powers may apply, so I'm open for hearing out cases to be made as you guys view the mechanics of the battle. Send it in if there is a question or proposal on anything. Or if it's pretty straight forward and you just want to start stabbing away for TR3, I'm definitely good for posting up those as well.

I know tomorrow is Friday, traditionally our day to gear down a notch, so I'll let you guys be the judge of how much to get done tonight/tomorrow. If someone is busy and can't really proceed, no problem. We'll push pause wherever it ends up tomorrow and let it sit for the weekend downtime.

Thanks, y'all.

Deep Ones vs. Maeriks
BR2

DO15: Movement to take position to Attack Maeriks'. Spear Attack.
DO9: Spear Attack

As one of the Deep Ones falls to Maeriks wrath, another one shifts over to take its place. Spears thrust in for the kill.
DO15 1 Hand Spear Attack - (1d20+4)
( 19 ) + 4 = 23
DO15 1 Hand Spear Damage - (1d6+2)
( 5 ) + 2 = 7
DO9 2 Hand Spear Attack - (1d20+4)
( 3 ) + 4 = 7
DO9 2 Hand Spear Damage - (1d8+2)
( 3 ) + 2 = 5
OOC:
DO15 spear hits, assuming he is still alive after Thorn is finished with him.
Maeriks leans back as he pushes on the back of the javelin with the bottom of his foot, pushing the dying creature toward the spear wielder, causing a renewed attack by the Deep One to fall short. As he leans back, Maeriks draws his dagger into his offhand. Lashing out with shortsword and spear, Maeriks drives into the Deep One with the quiet determination of a man just doing his job.
OOC:
11 damage to DO9.
A second attack from the side by yet another attacker catches him, leaving a trail of blood across Maeriks' back, fading into a thin cloud in the water.

Momentarily in the grip of one of his assailants, Kray manages to put his falcata between himself and another attacker's short sword, glancing the blow off to the side. Turning toward his right with the parry, he manages to slice free with his knife from a short-lived hold, pushing just far enough away from the grappler's reach to break free.

Dice for grapple resist. Advantage with Rage on Athletics check. Using CTC Advantage. Okay, let's try Lucky.

Alright then... going to use Reaction to Parry Maneuver vs the crit from DO4's shortsword. 14-11 = 3 damage, halved for Rage, rounded down to 1.

Now, going to use my Attack to try and break the Grapple. LOL for real on these dice. CTC Adv on that for another try. About time.

Bonus action to try and gut DO3 with my Mozamyah Knife (the DO I hit before).

1 damage, but at least I'm not swept away by these fucking things. Some shit luck that turn.

We'll be bathing a Deep One blood soon. Kill these damn wretched things!

Kray BR2 and TR3
OOC:
Wow. What a wrangle and what a dice-fest.
To me it looks like Kray definitely DID break the Grapple, but in the mechanics of it, the Grapple Resist came not during the defensive comparison in BR2, but came later during TR3. With the Break Grapple as an Attack Action. Correct?

If so, a few things I think:

1) That does mean, pretty sure anyway, that he was dragged away for a moment by the BR2 Movement of wrestler DO3. These jokers have and impressive 40 Swim MR. Half of that for dragging a grapple victim. So that would make it that Kray got pulled away 20' from previous position before he got enough wrestling done to really break free.

2) If Item #1 above is true, and the break grapple attempt (result 22) happened in Round 3, I think it means that I have to do another counter roll for DO3. I'll have to reread the rules, but I think it's sort of like a new face-off comparison between 2 guys every round. That is what we were doing back in the day when I was NPCing Wrestlemania Events M-Th day in/day out when Qiu was Intercontinental Champion (may he Rest in Peace). I'm going to post up a roll - it's probably going to be a Kray victory - and therefore a moot point. If it is a unlikely win by DO3, I'm up for debating this more if there is disagreement.

3) Bad news above, but as I think about it, there may be a bright side in that Ivor could, I think, steal away a Reaction Opportunity Attack on one of those fools. They tried to cover the retreat/withdrawal pull, but in the end even the guarding guys were trying to swim back with their wrestler buddy, trying to do the group kidnapping and abuse. Ivor has been covered up with his own problems, I don't think he could positionally strike out at DO3 wrestler specifically, but I think rear fadeaway guard DO4 has some vulnerability that Ivor can exploit.
Jabes, let Ivor stab away and join in on this long story adjustment if you want. That would be a Reaction during BR2 vs. DO4, so make sure I'm not missing something and you still have a Reaction intact for that round.

4) Let me keep going her: IF point number 3 is possible AND Ivor gets a successful hit, I think I have to envision that as another adjustment. Since Ivor is a Sentinel, his Opp Attacks stop opponents dead in their tracks right? Speed reduced to 0. If that is right, DO4 not only is denied Movement but I'm also going to say that his Attacks during BR2 retroactively never happened. Reason is because he was purposefully stalling to try to get back with a captured victim from his buddy's wrestle, Move with them, and then make his Attack away from the crowd, thinking that the attack might be more effective if the victim ended up entangled or pinned.

Alright. Lot of talking. I'll stop there, build in the roll, post, and then we can go from there as necessary.

OMG. Tie. 22-22. Now that's a can of worms. Will have to consult books tonight.
Ez, weigh in on any of the above as you see fit.
I think it is right that we have to do a new oppositional comparison roll for TR3. It seems right because otherwise on a good lucky roll, a guy could ride it out round after round.
