Chapter 3: Meeting The Natives

Jarveena and Moss fire at one of the Griffons, doing considerable damage. It takes higher to the skies while the the rest of the flock descends. Frick swats off attacks from two of the Griffons and their riders, while Ygne strikes Frick's attackers from the shadows. The remaining Griffons swarm the Spirit Mother as she summons her six masked guardians, perhaps too late.

In the meantime, Jahenna and The Seventh continue their fight. The Seventh is shouting angrily at his challenger, but Jahenna is silent, pushing her attacks through the chaos of the battle as if nothing has changed. As if bound by a sacred duty, the drummers do not miss a single beat, not even to shield themselves from flying arrows and rampaging sky beasts.

Seeing that some of the griffon riders have lander, Frick moves to attack them. His glaive slashes and stabs at the creatures surrounding the Spirit Mother.

Moss tries to finish the griffon he and Jarveena were shooting before moving nearer the spirit mother and hiding under another thatched-roof hut.

Deadpool, that creature is Griffon 6, now 100 feet away. That is outside normal shortbow range giving you disadvantage on the attack and negating your sneak attack. If this wasn't clear, you can reassign your target.

Ygne, gritting her teeth as the stress piles on, reloads her crossbow. Fumbling a few times to fit a quarrel against the drawn string, she eventually raises the weapon to her cheek, and fires upon a new target's flank. After her strike, she hurries into the heart of the crowd, trying to get closer to the riders while remaining undetected.

Order of events: Attack, move, bonus action hide. I'd like to also pile onto Frick's target, if it is still alive after Moss' attack.
Otherwise I'll shoot any of the ones engaged with the Spirit Mother. Also, I don't know what kind of action you want for perception checks, but if we're allowed to notice things while doing other things, can I roll to see if I spot any of those sharktooth daggers around? Either on bodies, on the ground, or on people's belts in the crowd? I'll do the roll just in case. Rolling 2 times for each roll just in case I'm unaware of any adv/disadv.

Yes. I think you still miss because you weren't hidden at the start of your turn so you are attacking without advantage (hid last turn before attack then revealed yourself).

At the top of the stairs, Elspa looks for a defensible spot, somewhere she and Rygnar can assault any pirates that climb the cliffs while keeping cover from ranged attacks.

Confident the panicking throng will grant her reasonable cover, positiond as she is under one of the thatched roofs, Jarveena takes careful aim at the wounded griffon and fires.

Elspa and Rygnar make it to the top of the cliff and finds cover at the edge of the cliff. They can easily see the boats landing from here, but it will be impossible for anyone to shoot at them from the beach. She can hear fearful shouting coming from the still-standing watchtower. Looking over their shoulders, Elspa and Rygnar can now see the chaos in the dueling circle and her comrades engaging the Griffons.

Frick wades through the Spirit Mother's masked servants to attack her assailants, but their agility is astonishing for such big creatures and he only manages to prune its plumage. Ygne follows her crew mate with her crossbow but the bolt goes wide. (Griffon 3 HP: 53/60).

As Ygne scans the crowd for weapons, she sees the big man who crafted the sharktooth daggers. He has drawn twin sharktooth shortswords and shepherding several villagers out of the dueling circle

Moss's arrow falls short, but Jarveena's hits the mark, sending the dead Griffon crashing through the roof of a nearby hut almost certainly killing its rider in the process (Griffon 6 and its rider are dead, but remember this is "silent time" on the Isle of Dread, so they will rise shortly if you don't decapitate them).

Rygnar stays by Elspa's side but looks back at the battle in the village behind them, his body twitches as he "cowers" behind cover.
HypCo sent a note to lenpelletier
He turns back to face his position "They better hurry it up, my sword is getting hungry."

I'll ready my action, the trigger is anything coming within 30 feet of Elspa or I.

                                     THE SPIRIT MOTHER AND THE SIX MASKED ANCESTORS
The Spirit Mother is near death, and desperately releases a wave of magic. A 40 foot geyser of lava explodes from out of the ground, catching a griffon and its rider, nearly hitting Frick. The Griffon manages to sidestep most of the fire, but the rider is horribly burned. He screams, clutching at his ruined face, eventually slumping over in the saddle dead.

Globs of molten rock fall all around Frick, hissing and crackling loudly as they solidify against the wet ground.
OOC:
Griffon 3 takes 17 damage, its rider is dead.
At the same time, the six masked ancestors attack, driving copper-plated daggers into Griffons' hindquarters, clawing their way to get to the Spirit Mother.

THE SIX FIVE GRIFFONS AND THEIR RIDERS
The griffons and their riders strike back. The two in the dueling circle that were attacking Frick turn their attention to Jarveena as she shoots down their wingman. The crowd scatters as they swoop in, talons leading the way. After tearing at Jarveena, they swoop up into the air again.

Jarveena has partial cover vs. ranged attacks due to her position. I've taken it into account on the roll. Jarveena takes 27 damage
The burned griffon with the dead rider bucks wildly at the masked figures

Another griffon rider pushes the assault on the spirit mother to its logical conclusion. The griffon finishes her with a chop of her beak, releasing a shockwave that violently knocks the masked ancestors to the ground, leaving them spasming. Frick sees the wave of energy pass through him, but feels nothing.

The two griffons then take the air, putting crossbow bolts in Frick's direction as they exit, and a kick for good measure.

Frick takes 6 damage from the bolts, and can take an opportunity attack against Griffon 5 or its rider.

The pirates move forward, shouting angrily as Elspa and Rygnar ascend the stairs. Shouts of "Coward!" and "Yew'd better run, you yellow bellied fart in the wind!" find their way up the cliff. The boats scrape against the ground as they hit the beach.
