Dodging blades from two of the masked ancestors, Moss sees the third one too late too completely dodge it, but still manages to twist away enough that no vitals were hit. Moss starts moving around to retake the bow and arrows he dropped near Frick and then sprints toward the bridges. Between breaths of air, Moss yells as loud as he can, hopping he can be heard...Frick ! Jarveena ! Ygne ! To the bridge ! Hurry !

Ygne sets her sights on another griffon, pressing the stock of her crossbow up to her shoulder as she squints across its length. Before she's able to squeeze off a shot, she's noticed, and the young thief lowers her weapon. "Fuck it all," she spits, opting to save the bolt and run instead.

ELSPA and RYGNAR
OOC:
The pirates are hostile to both Rygnar and Eslpa, Rygnar still has inspiration
In an orchestrated whirlwind of fury, Rygnar and Elspa paint the cliff in blood. Six pirates fall to their flashing blades in as many seconds. The front lines surge backward, their eyes full of terror.

".... my Gods, it is The Seventh! Fall back! Fall back!"
"... just keep cranking those flatbows!"
"... form ranks! Form ranks! Don't flee, you idiots!"

The 16 remaining sword-wielding pirates fall back from the stair to the beach. They form a semi-circle around the base of the stair and ready their swords in defence (dodge actions). The 12 bowmen open fire, Rygnar taking the brunt of the attack again, multiple bolts finding their mark in his flesh. Even Elspa's shield cannot catch every bolt this time.

The six bodies of the dead pirates begin to stir at the base of the stairs.
OOC:
Rygnar takes 4+3+3+3+3+2 = 18 damage
Elspa takes 1+2+2=5 damage
(all damage halved for rage)

FRICK, JARVEENA, MOSS, and YGNE

The group retreats with the crowd toward the bridges (60 feet from the dueling circle). Ygne and Moss make it to the bridge, choked with villagers holding crying children and pushing forward struggling elderly. Jarveena and Frick retreat more slowly to cover the rear, but draw the attention of the the Ancestors. Four target Frick as he is their closest target, the other two strike at fleeing villagers.
OOC:
Frick takes 10 damage. The bridge is 60 feet across, and because of the foot traffic, movement across with be considered difficult terrain. Ygne and Moss are right at the edge of the bridge, Jarveena and Frick 30 feet from it.
The dead griffons rise up from their deathbeds. The two that fell out of the sky are barely recognizable, their bones sticking out at strange angles and flesh badly torn. Yet, the three strike out aggressively, slaughtering fleeing villagers with their claws and beaks. The dead riders on their backs flail. Desperate to sate their hunger, they gnaw on the griffons they are strapped to.

Eight villagers die.

ELSPA and RYGNAR

The barbarians wade through the rising dead and charge headlong into the wall of swords. Elspa is the wedge that breaks through their ranks, exposing their inexperience and lack of cohesion. Rygnar then falls upon the open wound in their formation like an avatar of death, his greatsword carving a swath of blood and gore.

Six more fall.

As the dead pirates rise from the stairs with murder in their eyes, and confronted with what appears to be unstoppable legendary adversaries, the pirates break. They race to the boats and scramble over the edge, and spend all of their efforts casting off. (you may each spend your reaction to take an attack of opportunity)

The fleeing pirates leave 2 landing craft behind and make it 20 feet out into the water, leaving Elspa and Rygnar on the beach with 12 zombies.

FRICK, JARVEENA, MOSS, and YGNE

Moss and Jarveena's arrows find their mark, skewering the First Ancestor. It collapses into a cloud of dust, its perfumed wrappings crumbling as if centuries old all of a sudden. Behind is left a kind of armour that was worn beneath its wrappings that appears to be made of a hundred or more copper coins sewn into mail, as well its copper featureless mask.

Ygne's arrow flies at Jahenna, but she manages to block it with a bracer at the last second. She glares at Ygne as if eyes alone could flay her alive, but that gives The Seventh just enough time to go on the offensive, driving her back with unnatural speed. Jahenna reels and takes a blow so strong that it knocks her clean off her feet into the side of a hut. She doubles over, one sword still in hand.
