Prologue: Destiny Calls

G'Rehth sees a long piece of piping that had fallen to the floor with the debris. He yanks it out of the pile and sticks it out to Ta'hida, to see if he can grip it and be pulled in.

"Dern Pantoran," G'Rehth mutters to himself, "keeps getting stuck on rubbish"
Sep 16, 2017 7:48 pm
Ta'hida sees the piping and decides to take a chance.
Hopefully, this will work

Ta'hida gets a firmer grip on the fencing and pushes against it to propel himself through the zero gravity area. The fencing goes flying off in the opposite direction as Ta'hida hurtles towards the piping. He slides his hand along the piping, hoping the friction created by its irregular surfacing will result in a gradual slowdown of his momentum in order to avoid slamming directly into it and creating further problems for his savior.

G'Rehth does his level best to keep the pipe steady as the Pantoran collides with it.

Rolls

Athletics check to keep pipe steady for Ta'hida

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 3 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Advantage

Ta'hida impacts the pole, but with G'Rehth's lack of null-grav experience, it jars him more than expected and he loses his grasp. He watches in dismay as it drifts toward his feet, where he suddenly notices a familiar button. "Oy!", he calls out, "these suits have mag boots! Why are we wasting time floating around here?!"

Why didn't you say so before?
Ta'hida activates the magnetic soles and feels a distinct sense of relief as he anchors to the floor.

I uh, haven't had much experience in space.
Sep 24, 2017 6:12 pm
G'Rehth pushes off gently from the ceiling, and as he reaches the floor he activates his boots, adhering to the floor with a *thunk*. He starts walking methodically the rest of the way through the corridor.

Ta'hida follows G'rehth and tries not to think about how embarrassing that was.

The drive trails are spreading out now and only debris is passing close to the station. Suddenly three groups of new drives appear, and then the distinctive glow of red and green blaster shots start to light up the darkness!
Sep 26, 2017 9:50 pm
Mayron, makes his way to a viewport, careful to avoid any gravity weak spots, and looks out at the stars.

"Er...ships," he says, pointing at the laser flashes. "Shall we...leave now? Yes, I think leave now. Avoid trouble."

And with that, he starts to head towards the ship.

"Hopefully your ship is where you left it," G'Rehth growls, as he follows as quickly as he can.
Sep 27, 2017 4:00 pm
The station is shuddering violently as the group finds themselves approaching the dock where Serendipity is berthed. The hab ring has become almost entirely separated from the central refinery and cracks are appearing all over the transparisteel canopy above.
Sep 27, 2017 5:04 pm
Vorin runs down the buckling corridor, frantically looking for a way off the station. The ship she came on had already left, and it would be too dangerous to try to stow away on the same ship twice anyway. Nearly all the escape pods are gone, and the one time she thought she had found one she could use, she'd ended up having to give up her seat so a family could get out instead. Trust in the Force, Vorin. Trust in the Force, she thinks as the station flexes beneath her.

As she rounds a corner, something catches her eye. One of the docking rings is still occupied by a ship, and the control panel is blinking to indicate that the ship has powered up. She rushes over to the panel and sees that the ship is called Serendipity. I don't think I could ask for a clearer sign from the Force than that, she thinks. Jabbing the intercom button, she calls into the microphone "Hello, is anyone listening? I need a way off this station before it tears apart!" There is no response from the ship. "Please, the escape pods are gone and there's not much time left!" Still nothing.

Vorin begins poking at the control panel, looking for an emergency override or something that will open the airlock. Maybe the people on board are ignoring her. Maybe they have some kind of problem of their own and can't respond. Maybe there's not anybody on board at all. Regardless, she needs to get on that ship or else she's going to be sucking vacuum real quick.

Ta'hida follows along, noticing the destruction all around him

G'Rehth notices a young Mirialan female up ahead as they gain sight of the ship. She appears to be frantically working on the controls to the airlock, most likely attempting to gain access.

Speaking to Mayron,"Hmm, seems like you've got someone else taking you up on your offer. I hope you haven't forgotten the access code to your ship...." , his voice trails off.
Oct 2, 2017 7:24 am
Mayron pants as they run.
"All ready to go. Just keep...close watch on...new ones."
He sprints past the Miralan woman, waving her along.
"Nice to meet you! No one in there. But we can be," he yells as he pulls his comlink out and types a code.
The Serendipity's hatch opens and Mayron squeezes in as soon as it widens enough.
"I'll fly! Others...do other stuff!"
Oct 2, 2017 3:32 pm
G'Rehth straps in and prays that this human can actually fly this thing. He fires up the sensor array to start scanning their surroundings for threats.

Screens and status indicators blink to life as the ship quickly comes to life around the group. Power surges through systems and diagnostic information comes streaming in.

Systems nominal.
Power 5... 10... 20... 50... 100%
Sublight drive primed.
Primary hyperdrive spooling up.
Backup hyperdrive dormant.
Weapons powering up.
Shields powering up.
Sensors...

The screens blink to life and it takes G'Rehth a moment to study them to make sense of what he is seeing...

Outside the station is in its final death throes. The ships and pods which evacuated have been getting as much distance between themselves and the station as they could, but now what appear to be some pirates have jumped into the system, or perhaps emerged from some hiding place, and are intercepting and firing upon any craft which comes within their range. The ships which can are evading but the pirates have positioned themselves well on the main jump routes out of the system.

Well, at least they aren't telling me to get lost, Vorin reflects as the others brush past her into the ship. "I'm Paqa, by the way," she says as she follows in after them, looking around for a way to make herself useful. She notes the presence of a micro-galley for later and sees the Human and the Nikto heading to the cockpit. Looking the other way down the hallway, her eyes land on a ladder, presumably heading to a turret.

"I'll operate the turret," she calls, hoping there won't be call to actually shoot at anything. The flashing readouts that greet her after she clambers up the ladder suggest otherwise, however. She casts about for an intercom button and finds a headset. Putting it on and flipping on the turret controls, she says, "Turret standing by."

"G'Rehth.", G'Rehth says back to her, with a slight nod. "Welcome to our motley crew."

Ta’hida follows human to the cockpit and straps himself in the copilot seat. Now that he has a chance to think he takes a good look around.
Force preserve me is all he can think as he looks around the cockpit. Clearly the ship was not in peak cleanliness levels. Nothing too overt, well, except for that unidentifiable stain in in the corner. There was just a general sense of neglect.

Ta’hida tore his eyes away from the mess and tried to focus on the flashing lights.

Hey, what do all these buttons do? Why are some flashing?
