@Starrbeardo: Yes, your gear looks good.

@Mcdunno I believe I fixed all the things you pointed out, Thank you for the tips! I start getting confused when racial and class modifiers are added into the mix haha. But so far everything has been understandable. I think I'll make the shield another thing Aegar has around from his days as a knight. It even has a large "A" on the front of it that matches the one carved into the battle-ax.

One question though, when attacking with my battle-axe, will I have to specify that I am only using one hand to get that +2 damage bonus? or will I automatically wield it with 2 hands because I don't have anything in my other hand?
Your character gets better average damage using the axe 1-handed, so let's just assume you are always doing that. If you ever want to use both hands on your battle axe, you can just say so and omit the +2 on your damage roll.
Cool, Ill keep that in mind. Thanks len!

I'm happy to help. I'm glad Len accepted my request to join this group, even though I'm not a beginner. I've been enjoying helping out almost as much as I enjoy playing the game. It really is astonishing how quickly playing on Gamers Plane will familiarize you with the rules. It's harder in a real-life game when everyone has to carve actual time out of their lives to get together. Who wants to spend that time arguing over rules? And when your real-life DM likes to use the rules to punish players, it's nice to be able to throw the actual rules in his face. Luckily, someone else is DMing for my RL group now. I don't know how much more of that I could have taken.

What is the local opinion of the Kenku, by the way? I've left it a bit vague how far the Wizard Tower was from the starting city. If they were well known, I figured it'd be closer. If Pageflap is considered a rarely seen oddity though, the Tower would have been from a far away land, maybe across an ocean or something. It may also influence how some of the other characters would perceive Pageflap or whether he had ever heard of Kit Marlowe's troupe. I imagine Pageflap would be/become a fan of his considering his thirst for all things creative.

The distance traveled would also affect how much Pageflap added to his vocabulary as well, I believe.

A couple more observations before I leave work, which is when I do most of my postings; it makes me feel like I'm getting paid to play D&D:

Daykinator: With a shield, Aegar's AC is 15.

Jacketch: Flattery will get you everywhere with Kit. On a different note, have you considered swapping your scores in Wis and Dex? As a wizard, you are squishy as heck and a +3 to your AC will go a long way. Similarly, have you checked out the spell Mage Armor? It lasts for 8 hours and will give you a base AC of 13 + dex mod. If you swap Wis and Dex and take Mage Armor, you'll have a 16 AC, a possible lifesaver for a Kenku with 8 hit points! If you have an RP reason for the high Wis, still consider Mage Armor. It's not a one-use like Shield (though I would keep Shield, since a temp +5 boost can come in handy for those real emergencies). Even though you'll (probably) be in the back with Kit during any combat, once you start lobbing Magic Missiles, enemies tend to take notice!

I put points into Wisdom since the rules said Int and Wis were a Wizard's saving throws, and was planning on using Shocking Grasp in case an enemy got too close to give Pageflap time to run away, though putting more points in Dex would probably be a good idea and Kenku get a bonus to it anyways. With a higher AC Mage Armor would probably be a better idea than Shield too. I may also replace Shocking Grasp with Mending since Burning Hands and Mage Armor may do a good enough job concerning enemies that get too close...

There's nothing wrong with a wizard with high wis, but the proficiencies you mentioned only apply to saving throws, not spell saves, so a high wis won't help with spellcasting. Speaking of, keep in mind that burning hands is a 1st-level spell, which means you have a very limited number of times you can cast it per day. Shocking grasp is a cantrip, which means you can cast it an unlimited number of times. Also, your rationale for having shocking grasp is a good one: if your enemy fails their save, they cannot take reactions, which means you can run away without worrying about them attacking you (an attack of opportunity).

If you keep your wis high (again, a perfectly acceptable character decision--smart and wise are great qualities for a leader and problem-solver), I would recommend you take another look at your skill proficiencies. None of them are wisdom-based. Take advantage of your buddha-like qualities!

By the way, I love the name Pageflap. I played a Kenku monk once. He was a narcoleptic alcoholic named Corker because he always made the sound of a bottle being unstoppered. You'll have to figure out a way to write the sound of a page flap. I can see him concentrating on something and we all suddenly hear the sound of someone flipping through the pages of a book.

Oh, and Kit has the actor feat, letting him imitate voices and sounds. I can see him and Pageflap having a good time with that.

Starrbeardo says:

@Ramen- Barendd's tavern seems like a good place for someone who is accused of murder to seek respite. Between the more heroic nature of the murder you're wanted for, and Barendd's understanding that bad/illegal doesn't mean evil I think it could fit. Unless you would like to go some other way?
That's a great suggestion, thanks! Having Raishe spend time in the tavern while he figures out where to go next would provide with the opening to form the connections with everyone else. Leaving into areas where law has less of a hold seems like the best place to head into for him.
McDunno says:

Ramen & Jaketch: If you're having trouble narrowing down your spell list, here's a great site that can sort them by class and level (among other things). Not all of the entries have spell descriptions, but it's still my go-to for choosing spells. If you need spell descriptions (or just about any other info), here's a great wiki. And, specifically, the wiki for wizard spells and cleric
spells
.
Thanks for links! :) I've added all of my cantrips and spells.

Yes, thanks Daykinator! I realized I had read it but forgot to tell you how much I like it!

So I see we've got a dwarven fighter & tavern owner, half-elf fighter with a chip on his shoulder, the premier actor of our time, a human barbarian from a fallen empire, a kenku wizard seeking a way to end the curse on his kind. Anything in particular you'd like from me? I'm open to playing pretty much anything.

13, 13, 16, 15, 15, 12 before racial adjustments. Not too shabby.

Welcome Jabes!

Them stats! What do you feel like playing?

1. Paladin could easily fit in thematically to the adventure and provide offense and healing. A high plains drifter looking to right some wrongs perhaps.

2. Although we have no rogue, Starrbeardo's fighter has the criminal background and is our resident picker of locks. Perhaps a stealth-minded character like a Ranger or Warlock. The new Hexblade from Xanathar's looks really fun, and the Horizon Walker would be pretty fantastically linked to this adventure's theme too.

3. Cleric could work too, since we lost ours. Technically this game is set in the same home brew universe as the Vignette you played in, although on a different moon. Perhaps Torden Stormhammer could make a reappearance - he was known to travel far and wide!

I'm sure we could make other ideas work too.

You're right, that Hexblade looks like a lot of fun! But I'm notoriously slow at putting together a new character, and moreso when it's a caster.

I think I'll dust off ole' Torden Stormhammer. So it looks like the party is getting a replacement cleric. :-)

Welcome to to game, Jabes! Torden sounds like he's been through some adventures, which makes the good rolls you got make sense in story.

Also, didn't know we were on a moon! I figured the whole planet of sorrow thing meant more towards how you can see Venus in the sky sometimes. How big is that planet?

Cool, glad to see Torden again :) I loved his character.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how people would interpret it, but it isn't immediately important :) Sorrow appears as a bright ball in the sky, not unlike the moon appears in Earth's sky. You've probably seen the Earthrise photo, and I imagine it looks similar, maybe 50% bigger. However, Sorrow is completely shrouded in dense clouds, and has distinct rings.
[ +- ] Earthrise
I think I will retcon this adventure and Torden's first adventure to be on the same moon. I think that was my original intention, seeing as I reference northern Dwarven strongholds, which will now include Torden's home, Kaled Del. It also makes it more plausible that Torden is here; travelling between moons ain't no easy thing.

Jabes, we will have to level Torden down to level 2. I don't remember what your magic item was, but you can probably keep it. The characters are likely to acquire nice things soon!

"Stormbreaker." +1 maul. Casts Thunderous Smite once per long rest. I get to keep it? Cool! Thanks!

As I mentioned on the Absences thread won't be on the boards til after Christmas (will be very busy working). Any bit of free time I can manage I will read up on this game's story thread so I can catch up. Unless you would prefer I come in blind, Len?

Hey Len,
I have the bare bones of my Paladin, I'm a bit confused with how the spells work with the paladin table, channel divinity, etc. At third level I have 3 spell slots it seems, but with the channel divinity and such is it still 3 spells or does that increase from the Paladin table?
