Character Creation

Char Gen is regular core rules or Run Faster rules. Core book priority A-E Start with 25 karma to improve your character plus another 25 more of negative qualities. Alternatively you could use the Run Faster Point Buy with 800 Karma (plus an extra 25 of negative qualities). Or use Run Faster Sum to 10 or the RUn Faster Life module system.

Looks like we have 4 people. While you are making you are stating out your character you can throw out character ideas here.

I am playing around with the idea of a Muscle that is too enucleated that he relies on BTLs to feel and have a relationship.

Sounds cool. Can you put your BTL dealer in the contacts subforum? Give the guy/gal a name and a few unique character traits.

I'm thinking of building a Face with some B&E skills.

I'm not particularly sold on anything other than not really wanting to play a Decker. I had a character concept in the past for a long range rigger, relatively frail, who used a drone to basically be how he interacted with most people, including combat. Otherwise, I've never played a magical character in Shadowrun, so trying that out could be neat.

So Muscle, a face and a rigger (or maybe a mage) nice diversity so far.

If Keleth goes mage then I`ll go with rigger/decker if Not I'll take the Mage slot since I even had an adept kinda ready.

Let's also situate your characters. Based on their lifestyle where do they live? I posted a map in the resources subforum. And here is a link to the different districts:

Fennec lives in an apartment in Renton. He's a Seattle boy, born and bred, who bounced around the foster system until high school when he applied and was accepted to the UCAS military. They sent him to West Point, and his charm and skill at killing things got him into the Special Forces. One tour of duty was enough for him, he asked for a received an honorable discharge and has been running in the shadows ever since.

Hey guys, looking forward to the game!

I'm planning on rolling up a skillomancer, who's mechanically a jack-of-all trades. Can do face stuff, infiltration, light combat, but just knows A LOT.

If you guys think the group needs somebody else, I can always roll up another character to fill in whatever gaps are left open. Just let me know.

Ok I'm going with a dwarf Adept.

We do still need a decker. Can they fill that role too?

Just my 2 nuyen. I think it is fine to have overlap in face skills. I play in a Shadowrun game and some of the best sessions are when the two faces get to play off each other. And they get to assist in the negotiation rolls so mo' money, mo' money, mo' money!

If the group doesn't end up having a decker we can find a solution. Or if there isn't a mage same thing. Happy to tailor the game for the characters we have.

Just my thought.

My character isn't a decker, unfortunately. To be honest, I'm a little hesitant of picking up a decker simply because I don't know the rules (ie: my decker character will probably end up being as useless as a potato), but I can give it a shot if the group agrees on needing one.

My current skillomancer does have a decker for as a contact, for whatever that's worth. :)

No problem, I'll give it a try. I'll shelve Fennec for another game. :)

I've never run one before, but it looks interesting. And PbP is one of the best ways to learn something new, since you can take the time to look stuff up. If everyone else is okay with it, I'll build a decker.

I respect that you're willing to work around us, aaronschmidt; so maybe that can translate to going a little easy on me? :)
Nov 21, 2017 2:01 pm
Sure! I'll go easy on anything that is rules related. But I will throw character based challenges at ya all.
Nov 21, 2017 2:07 pm
Well, guess that settles me into the rigger. So yah, I'm thinking someone who prefers longer ranged, will be relatively fragile, often interacting via drone.

Kaleth - my character is actually a much older and looks relatively fragile too. Any chance our characters could know each other, especially if your character is old?

I was actually leaning to a younger character who is weak, maybe sick. But no reason our characters can't know each other. Maybe from a therapy center or something of the sort?
