Kray
R7

Kray puts the bow down and finally gets a hand free to unstrap and put forward his shield. Now fully set for close quarters combat, he strides forward to attack the beast-man who is restrained by Akkeen’s strange snake bands.

Both Attacks Hit

Kray chops relentlessly, trying to score a kill strike. The savage man is like an animal though and defends ferociously despite his disadvantage, still holding his long-handled axe. Even when cut by the cruel edge of the Serpent Judgement, the feral man that Akkeen calls Balis continues to fight.

Namtur
R7

Frustrated, Namtur reengages. He makes a bold and challenging attempt to tear Uburatu's mighty shield from his hand.

Attack 2: Force Takeaway Opponent Shield
OOC:
Going ad-hoc on the rules for this idea. I think it would be possible, but the guy holding the shield would be at Advantage.
Opponent wins comparison

Despite Namtur's strong effort, Uburatu again proves too difficult to assault. Though outnumbered and poorly positioned, he is still yet to be overpowered.

Elam
R7

Uburatu looks like an impenetrable fortress as he dismisses the assault of mighty Namtur. Despite the risks, Elam knows he has to press in on Uburatu, crowd him and deny him an escape route, and hopefully keeping him from killing the vulnerable Namtur who is unarmored and injured.

Elam runs in and brings his blade to bear against the armor-clad warlord.

To no avail. Uburatu's defenses are too sturdy.

Thorn's muscles are aching, his skin burning where the creature bit him. He charges forward nonetheless, adrenaline keeping his mind focused and his injured body moving. Trece! He recognizes the Seetan on the ground, a devilish looking creature stepping away from him. He runs past Trece at the devil, swinging his blade down upon it.

A small part of him wonders at what appears to be a bull off to his right close to the edge of Kray's torchlight.

Thorn
R7

Thorn approaches aggressively, leading the way with his sword. The shirtless, muscle-bound devil draws his own blade, dropping his belt and scabbard to the floor.

Thorn's first swing flies over the devil's head as he ducks. Thorn arcs around with a follow-through overhead strike, but the devil reacts quickly and blocks. Urdav's blade crashes against a rugged, cloudy chopping blade - a loud clang of steel on steel, and Thorn finds himself briefly brought face to face with his new opponent.

Both Attacks Miss

The devil looks down briefly at Urdav's blade, as if stealing a moment of admiration amidst the danger. "Magnificent!," he says aloud to Thorn, speaking Heshbaan.

Thorn pushes the devil away and squares off against him. Thorn can tell from that parry that this horned fellow with the rugged skin, though surprisingly young in appearance, is a swordsman of considerable skill and strength.

Trece
R7

Trece weaves through Namtur and Elam, making the leap at a full run. In the air he draws back fully and then releases the strike at the last moment of descent, throwing his upper body weight into it with a powerful twist of the shoulders and torso.

Uburatu tries to bring up the shield, and almost makes it, but is too slow by the smallest fraction. Trece's fist crests over the shield and connects at the left check bone, Trece pivoting full power into the blow as he lands.

Unarmed Strike 1 Hit

Uburatu's head is knocked back from the force of the blow. Trece tries to capitalize with a quick stab of the spoon knife, but the blade is repelled by Uburatu's tough armor.

Weapon Attack Miss

Setting his stance, Trece strikes again with a rough thrusting punch, hitting Uburatu low in the abdomen. The myrmidon captain winces and huffs at the body blow, looking at Trece in surprise first and then utter hatred.

Unarmed Strike 2 Hit

Trece slips advantageously behind Uburatu, making him surrounded by opponents.

Bull Maeriks
R7

The bull turns again, stomping and tossing its bulky head violently. The entangled beastman does his best to defend with his hands and axe, but trapped on the floor with his legs wrapped, there is little he can do to avoid being trampled. He is knocked around like a plaything. Growls and roars mix with his howls of pain. It seems that only his bestial instincts and fury is keeping him from being knocked unconscious or killed.

Trample and Gore both Hit

Kray has to back away to give a wider berth to the bodacious bull.

Akkeen watches on in awe, amazed at the complete transformation of the Dannein druid and fascinated to see the terrible Balis the Beast captured and violently abused.

Ox, I'm moving on with NPC Actions today (Saturday). Get on if you can and post R7 Actions. Note: There is a short bow and 1 arrow that would at least be on the ground right nearby Bryn, or could have even been passed to Bryn by Kray we could say. IF you want it as a resource.

Uburatu
R7

Uburatu's vision is still stabilizing after the flash of pain from the boxer's surprise punch.

Curse Abros! Why did he not cut the Seeten to pieces immediately?!

The seasoned warrior disciplines himself and returns focus. Beset by enemies on all sides, he has to work quickly and wisely to escape.

Elam seeks to draw attacks, but Uburatu does not take the bait.

Namtur is fatigued. Injured. Unarmored.

Uburatu chops with his heavy khopesh. He will cut Namtur down, clear the way for his retreat.

Bonus Action: shield bash
All Attacks Hit

Namtur raises his own shield to block the first strike just in time, but the force of the impact sends shockwaves of pain through his entire upper body. His left arm goes completely numb.

Uburatu steps forward and slams his full body shield hard into Namtur's wooden shield, knocking it out wide.

Namtur is completely exposed when Uburatu brings the curved blade back around again. It slashes across Namtur's chest and lower torso at an angle, cutting through flesh, cracking bone, splitting open a devastating wound.

Uburatu pushes forward, intent on moving through as Namtur falters and drops.

Namtur
R7 (effects)

Pain blasts through Namtur's entire body, overtaking all of his senses. His vision goes totally white. His head spins as everything around him disappears.

Namtur enters the Zero Hit Point State (ZHPS)

When he can see again, he is on a knee, about to tip over.

But Uburatu is moving forward; Namtur has to hold the ground. He snaps up his shield and crashes it against Uburatu's own.

Bracing his feet underneath him, Namtur leans in against the shield clash and presses upward to stand.

On the very brink of death, Namtur holds his ground. Uburatu will not pass him.

Balis
R7

Balis can hardly keep his bearings. Attacks are coming from all sides and the bull is bearing down on him at every turn.

Treacherous Akkeen and his edimmu! Balis will make him pay. Balis will eat the boy's heart once he digs it out from his neck.

Balis puts his axe down to get both hands free, grabs hold of the snakes, and pulls with all of his might to snap them.

Attempt Break the Serpents of Hinnon.
DC 20

Balis roars aloud in complete rage, straining beyond measure and ignoring the pain of it. His hands bleed as the rough metal cuts into his skin. The sinews in his shoulders nearly snap.

Finally one of the snakes loosens. And then another is torn free. Balis summons every ounce of strength; he is almost free!

Fail (by 1).
Restrained and Prone Conditions continue.
OOC:
Dang, Balis. Should have spent that last ASI for the STR boost, bro.
But just as he is about to slip a leg out from the coils, the iron snakes begin to writhe and tighten again. They twist and constrict, crossing in and out of one another, closing the gaps.

The rune-covered iron bands will not be torn away. The opening was only fleeting; Balis is held fast from the waist down. His hopes of escape - dashed.

Taking up his axe again, the armored and bloodied beast-man shouts out in primal fury. He is a cornered animal, fighting desperately for survival in its last moments, raging against impending doom.

Round 7 Update

Action Remaining: Bryn
Possible Partial Actions Remaining: Abros
[ +- ] Battle Map, R7 Near End
OOC:
Ox, post up when you can.
Bryn has options. Has a short bow and 1 arrow available as optional resource.
Attacks v. Uburatu or Balis are made at Advantage because of Flanking Criteria.
OOC:
X, tough numbers coming against Our Man Thorn.
If that last Attack 2 Critical brings Thorn below Max Negative HPs (in his case I think below -4), then that strike would take him past the Zero Hit Point State rules and into the Dying Rules.
Good news is, opponent Abros is trying to pull kill shots, convert to knock out shots. So if Thorn goes to -5 or lower, we would have to interpret that Hit as a match-ending sword hilt bump to the jaw. Lights out.
But no Death Saves necessary, so that's good.
Need to ask you to report in and let us know effects, or send questions if you have them. Have to know how it shakes out, and I don't want to make a mistake or lose something in the shuffle.
OOC:
O M G

I just deleted one of the most important posts of all times by mistake.

It was Abros' Attack series v. Thorn.

It included two Hits (21 and 29), one of which was a Critical. Damage was 12, then 28.

I will rewrite the narrative, but there is no way to recover the rolls.
Jan 5, 2019 6:12 pm
NOTE: This is a rewrite entry. I DELETED the original entry by mistake, BUT that entry is no longer canonical and should be disregarded if it is remembered.

Abros
R7

Abros was frustrated that the match against the Seetan Master had been interrupted and that now he had to fight for his life against this giant Markkelander. The soldier’s Yuoric steel blade was amazing. The man must be a Korvaran, as Uburatu had suspected. Na'hama must have turned them.

Sizing the Korvaran up, Abros knows that grappling against him would be tough and, more importantly, slow. Abros is winded and in no shape for an extended bout. He has to knock the myrmidon down quickly before he could stabilize or get his comrades to gang in.

Abros doesn't want to kill the man either, since Elam is aligned with these foreigners. But he isn't sure if that is possible without getting killed himself.

Attacks, Sword v. Thorn
Non-Lethal Damage elected by Attacker if opponent HPs go below 8

Bonus Action: 2 Unarmed Strikes by way of Ki, Flurry of Blows

As Abros fights, he talks openly in his measured tone.
[ +- ] Heshbaan (Intermediate speaker Thorn may not understand entirely. Ha!)
OOC:
X, this is a total fuck up on my part. I was trying to delete a double post, but ended up deleting the original Abros entry by mistake. See my writing in OOC immediately above.

I thought about debating whether to keep the old rolls or not, but I just couldn't live with it like that. I'm pretty sure it would have knocked Thorn unconscious in the first 2 hits, and that's just too much drama to stomach based on just my transcript of what the rolls were and no formal RNG record for you to see with your own eyes.

So let's just say that happened in an alternate universe. We'll call it an alternate Throneverse. (In another Throneverse created by my previous big error, Uburatu actually escaped the room in Round 6 with supernatural Movement! Holy shit, J!)

In THIS Throneverse though, we're rerolling Abros' entry. You and I both move forward with THESE results posted below, neither one of us having any guilt about what is legit and what is good luck, bad luck, or dumb luck caused by my delete error.

J-FUBAR. Damn. This is some Final Destination type shit going on here, which leads me to believe Thorn's demise will be accidental strangulation in a tub.

Even with the the rewrite, Abros whittled Thorn down to a single hit point, though. So... fuck.
OOC:
Attack 1 & 2 and the Kick hit. Punch misses.
His enemy attacks him with a speed he is not prepared for. The sword cuts him and he begins to bleed. Death seems near, although it seems that the man is trying to put him down instead of kill him outright. The man speaks to him in Heshbaan as they spar, and he catches the words for kill and brother. He thinks he hears Elam's name, but the rest is lost.

Iasu is nearby. Thorn ducks just in time to avoid the man's fist and rolls begins to roll backward, out of reach, toward his ally. As he does so, Urdav's blade swings up to catch the man's arm.

Adrenaline pumps through Thorn. He has always been sure he had more time. Today is no different.

R7 Reaction

Thorn tries to capitalize on the devil man's final missed strike, but is unable to connect on his own attack either.

Reaction Attack by Riposte Miss

Thorn steels himself for further confrontation.

Bonus Action in R7 for Second Wind
OOC:
Yeah this is crazy sci-fi horror right now, X.

One thing we have to map out though is how this Round 7 has to close. Choices.

Thorn already put in Action for R7 here.
Disengage would be an Action, so he can't Disengage right now during this round.

The Reaction is in, all legit.

The delayed Bonus Action is good too no problem. We have been running this sort of realistic blend of gradual overlap of action all through this scene, so catching the Second Wind right now works just fine.

Thorn has some Movement for R7 remaining, enough to get him over to Iasu at least (Thorn used a little bit to move at the beginning of R7, from lower in the room to engage with Abros when he fell back to the defensive position of the north wall corner).

But Movement away from an engaged opponent, unlike Disengage, would give the opponent option for Opportunity Attacks.

So I think it is these 2 choices:
1) stand ground toe-to-toe with Abros and prepare for Round 8, therefore not offering an option for a pot-shot at departure
2) use Movement to relocate to identified position next to Iasu and accept the possibility of the OA (does he take it? does it hit?)

Let me know.
