Ivor sees an Alijanian armed with two scimitars charging up the hill. He seems to be coming towards the group that Ivor is with, that is heading down the hill.

In the ghetto...

Thorn gains little from the investigation, but eventually, after the initial silence of the shock, everyone begins to speak again.

The Seetans speak with Ron Oram first. The Hechesi speak among themselves. The younger two Seetans speak among themselves.

Gibon eventually recovers his composure. At first he bursts into speaking in Heshbaan, and animated with his hands. Then he takes some deep breathes, paces around on the deck for a bit, and then gets back into the flow of speaking Yuoric.

"I feel I would die," he says to Thorn, as he shakes his head back and forth, trying to get the trembling out of his body.

The other Seetan in the bright red robes comes over to speak with Kray and Thorn. As they have noticed before, he has a very kind and pleasant demeanor. He speaks excellent Yuoric, with an accent similar to Palla Ba's. He introduces himself as Lok. He is the son of Palla Ba.

OOC:
Sorry. Portrait image not loading for some reason, will fix later.
Lok inspects Gibon and talks to him about possible symptoms. With a smile he says, "I think this man is vibrant and intact. He has escaped injury."

He tells them a bit about the creature, "Poor Bezil Koral. His body was spoiled by hexed flesh that bound with his organs inside. The wretched poison within him summoned a edimmu that slew him and took control of his living tissue."

When asked about an edimmu. "It is a vile spirit that emerges from the Underworld, seeking flesh to corrupt and men to waste on it's hateful passions."
Mar 9, 2018 3:44 am
Hearing Gibon isn't a threat to turn into what Koral was, the plain robed Seetan begins the clean off his fists and makeshift dagger off of blood.

Yashub break into a run to cover the distance to the Stabber, and lets out a shrill warning cry to get everyone stop what they are doing and have a look around.

Thorn gives a dismissive shrug.

"You worry too much. Remember how we took control of Valates' longship? It was an easy task. I think we're up to the task of keeping you alive. You're in good hands, Gibon."
OOC:
It's a nice way of saying C'mon Gibon. Buck the fuck up.

Dug-Nuna, filtering in through the crowd to veil his movement and the draw of his knife, steps out across the grass, covering the distance to the target in a few graceful strides.

Sergius is caught, ever so briefly, off guard. When he realizes that assailant's approach, he is too far away to react in time.

Someone yells out from the lower edge of the grass hill, but it is too late.

Magistrate Eannatum does not see it coming.
OOC:
Ooh. Nasty.

Lok and the younger Seetan speak briefly in another language, not Heshbaan.

DMJ sent a note to HypCo
"My companion reminds me of the nature of the intrusion that caused this abomination," Lok shifts back to Yuoric, talking kindly to Thorn. "Ron Oram said that you and Lord Mercon were there at the fateful night in the forest when Bezil Koral was assaulted. Would you be willing to tell us more about what you remember of the incident? We believe that this sorcerer is a real menace. We wish that he could be foiled somehow."
Mar 9, 2018 4:59 pm
Kray spoke with Lok and Thorn, recounting the details of the night. The bowman from on the perimeter. The robed man who plucked a heart. The hell hounds. The location. Every part of the incident he could recall in an effort to recreate the events of the night as accurately as possible.

A brief introduction during the conversation with Lok when the chance presents itself.

Kray introduces himself to Trece. "Kray Mercon. Well met." He gestured toward Thorn. "Thorn. A friend and trusted ally. The Fates smiled on us with your presence, to be sure. Whatever brought you to this corner of the world was undoubtedly a boon to all present."

If Thorn is going by Aemlar(?) Kray would introduce him as such.

The man stares at Kray for a moment, a blank slate on his face, as if the words aren't registering. After a moment, he gains the intent "Trece."

Thorn listens as Kray describes the assault in the forest, nodding in agreement here, adding a detail or two there.

OOC:
Thorn prefers Thorn. Aemlar came up in his conversation with the queen because she struck a nerve—she bluntly asked him for his real name.
Thorn nods in Trece's direction as Kray introduces him.

We need another translator? Going to have to fire Gibon and pick up someone with some serious multilingual skills ha.

Gibon does get back into the translation game.

Lok informs, in Yuoric, that Trece does not speak Yuoric and is only recently trying to learn Heshbaan. "His language is Old Empire," Lok explains.

Kray and Thorn understand that as a reference to the Zutaran language. Kray has heard it called "Desert Speech" also, in Jeresian or other Yuoric circles. He knows the general history that Zutar was the old empire that once stretched across a vast and rugged area of central Faolan. After a costly and lengthy war against Ancient Otessa (many centuries back, though Kray cannot remember exactly when), Zutar broke apart into its many vassal states, eventually ceasing to exist as any central government.

The language remained though and is still spoken by many including Jbailians, Sarcerans, Bishtus, Sekeris, and even Korsians on the western coast.

Gripping with his left hand and cupping his right hand on the rear of the handle to provide more force, Dug-nuna drives the dagger straight forward in a ferocious thrust. The blade breaks the sternum and pierces the heart. The Honorable Magistrate Eannatum cannot even muster a cry of pain, stumbling backwards two steps and then collapsing to the ground in a heavy heap, the knife still impaled in his chest.

By the time his victim hits the grass, Dug-nuna is already running at a full sprint towards the lower wall of the north side of the stadium.

The crowd separates Sizhen a distance as he tries to gain ground. He had lost the Stabber briefly in the mix of people, but now he sees him again, launching further north towards the opposite downhill slope of the hill, with the small fence and wheat fields beyond.

------------------------------------------------

Yashub yells out and a couple of the men ahead in the crowd tense for action, looking around. Yashub cannot quite see the detail for a moment, but then it becomes clear as he rises to the top of the hill. Magistrate Eannatum is down, knife still in his chest.

Dug-nuna is sprinting towards the north fence and fields.

The Alijanian rival is running up the hill as well, two scimitars unsheathed and in hand as he runs.

-------------------------------------

Ivor sees the Alijanian running uphill with the drawn swords. Another Heshbaan running forward, to a more leftward angle from Ivor's vantage point, yells out some sort of warning and raises his hand.

Some of the women scream.

Ivor quickly sets into battle readiness, as does Cedrio nearby.

Scanning his surroundings, and looking back uphill, Ivor sees Magistrate Ennautum fall to the ground and a man running past the tent.

Ivor sees Sergius leaping into action, making a quick assessment of the fallen magistrate, and then turning towards the running man, stepping out in pursuit with his spear in hand.

The Chase?
OOC:
Assuming Yashub and Sizhen want to pursue Dug-nuna the Stabber?

Opinion: Chases are tough to deal with mechanically sometimes and can drag out, especially on PBP.

Going to manage this a little differently than DMG guidance, simplify it (for me at least).

Anyone who wants to run after Dug-nuna, send six items:

Restatement of your original Initiative roll above (if you have one)
1 STR Athletics check
1 STR Athletics or 1 DEX Acrobatics check
1 WIS Perception check,
1 CON check
1 Additional Initiative roll

Jabes, will tell you ahead of time, Ivor will be one proverbial step behind in all of this if you decide to have him give chase. He was drinking fine wine and throwing game at the ladies while Stabbers were coiled for strike and these other two strangers were already in full sprint. It won't be like he is a got cement feet or anything, just will be a few seconds back to see how all this turns out.

If you aren't into chasing, disregard of course. Other Action may seem more fitting too, so send that as well if you have it.
