Elam
R1

Uncanny.

Elam sticks the landing on the standing broad jump. He lands on The Platform in a crouch, both feet planted firm.

The swordsman reaches down, grips the hilts of both blades, and double draws. Like a springing panther, he launches at the frail and emaciated wretch - his competitor, his foil, his adversary, his brother.

Thorn throws off the chain in a burst of action.

Turning towards the entrance of the chamber he swings Urdav's sword high, splitting a harassing edimmu asunder in a burst of blood and gore.

Shuffling his feet as fast as he can, Thorn withdraws, back into the descending tunnel.

Elam pulls back low and jabs his left blade into Suter-Set’s midsection with an upward thrust. The sorcerer’s thin frame is wracked from the impact. His abdomen is so very thin; the point of the short blade tears out of the fragile skin stretched across his back.

Closing in, Elam drives downward with a crushing stomp kick to the back of the knee. Suter-Set’s legs buckle and he collapses down to his knees, though still held upright by Elam’s sword penetrating through his body.

With his victim reduced to full vulnerability, Elam cuts across with blinding speed slashing across and up, but misses as Suter-Set’s weight shifts. He follows through with the swing, raising the blade high overhead, and spinning it to a reverse grip.

The first downward stab is violent and brutal enough. The steel dives straight down into the chest, entering above the ribcage at the base of the neck. Any warrior knows this is a killing blow, a blade on that route cuts the central veins and arteries even as it pierces the heart.

But as if he is not convinced, Elam brings the blade up and down twice more in quick violent successive stabs. Blood splatters up as Suter-Set’s upper chest and neck shreds apart in the assault.

Elam has already let the left blade slide free. Now he snatches the right blade out with a smooth pull upward. Both blades are at his side now, fully covered in a thick coating of lifeblood. Blood is splattered in specks all over Elam's chest, arms, and face.

Though slouched forward and head down, Suter-Set still sits upright on his knees at Elam’s feet. There is the briefest of pauses as Elam takes a step back to reset his stance. Is the swordsman shocked that he has brought true defeat to his nemesis?

Suter-Set’s body wobbles and quakes, like a thin clump of tall grass shifting in the wind. Slowly his boney stickling arms raise up and out to the sides. His gnarled hands are like knotted sprouts on the end of dead branches.

Elam snaps back to action. A brutal front snap kick, slamming into Suter-Set’s face with enough force to lift the decrepit body off of the floor as the neck snaps back with an audible crack.

Suter-Set’s body sails off of The Platform in silence.

Falling. In an instant, he is gone. Swallowed in the ultimate darkness of The Pit.

Suter-Set
R1 (Reaction)

In a roaring barrage of sound, The Irons snap and rattle. In a massive coordinated routine, the chains shift position drastically. And instantly.

Without warning the chains speed outward in different routes and directions. A storm of flying chains overtakes the area at the entrance, with such violence that those close to the threshold have to step back to avoid being thrashed.

Chains dive through large iron rings set into the door way, swing and switch directions once through, and then dart back in other directions, finishing routes by latching onto other rings or directly onto other chains. In quick seconds, a field of inter-wrapping chains are laid over one another, constructing what is effectively a sealed door in the entranceway!

Similarly, on the other side of the room, The Irons weave through rings and hooks on and around the Golden Door of the Kings.

The noise rages on as the interlocking of chains continues, but now it is certain – the entrance to the Chamber of the Pit is closed, with Thorn on the other side in the tunnel, the openings between chains too tight to squeeze through, and the giant seal to The Vault is locked in place.

Even so, another grouping of chains flings to the center of the room and extend downard. In large conglomerated groupings, several of The Irons form together and dive deep, disappearing into the darkness of The Pit, like giant columns reaching down into the world beyond.

Reaction: Dead Man’s Switch

Anyone grappled by chains is released.

OOC:
Ruling: Kray had called retreat, had Initative, had remaining Action - seems like he has a conglomeration of circumstance that might allow him option to react quickly and Move (Dash) through the chain grate seal before it was completely locked tight.

Would face some danger diving through the storm of whirling chains.

Will run it as a DEX Save against area of effect to pass through. Undeclared DC and damage risk, but it won’t be catastrophic on numbers.

This is a special allowance only because of a grouping of related criteria.
Optional Action, Kray: can elect to Move through, past closing chain gate, with risks.
CLARIFICATION: If elected, this would have to be accomplished by use of Dash as Action.

Alright all, both exits chain-sealed and some chains diving into the Pit... for some reason. Pull Suter-Set back up, I'll assume. Another incarnation, perhaps. We'll see.

J, I'm at work, busier than that Fleiss call girl previously mentioned if she was working a neighborhood gang bang for the weekend. I'd love to post tonight, but no guarantees. Plans with the old lady and all that for dinner.

As the chains release their quarry, Kray senses the opportunity, years of experience in massive battles facilitating his reaction to the timing of it all.

Now.

Judgement at ease, stirring to life in his hand, shield placed with intent throughout, he begins with a couple of long steps back from the fiend threatening him, almost heedless of it. With a quickness, he stalks with efficiency through the storm of churning metal and hel-bats, singular strikes placed with efficacy at each turn as he sought to rectify their predicament by leaving a trail of fallen edimmu in his wake.

Alright. Hate using action surge at disadvantage, but we need a 'fresh' start, so to speak, so worth the gamble, especially given Ryhim (20!!! BRO!) and Elam's magnificent work to set the table. If we can waste these fliers before the pit coughs up the nasty, so much better if we're all at the ready.

Going to assist, in order: Iasu, Maeriks, Ryhim, then Bryn. At the end, standing right in front of Bryn, taking his enemy on and posing massive threat if it is still alive.

Action surge, move to Iasu, Maeriks, Ryhim then Bryn. Extra rolls only used for Iasu. If that happens, skipping Maeriks area since he is heavy and not easily lifted.

Here goes... DT Fates be fucking kind less cruel. Ha!

Kray
R1

Kray moves out on a killing spree, striding out first to hack the edimmu off of Iasu near the chain whirlwind. He steps back inward to split the head of the flapping abomination that was working its way around to the bull’s snout.

Not finished yet, Kray crosses over to support Ryhim and Bryn. The Serpent Judgement cuts through wings and tentacles of the bat head harassing Ryhim. In a final high arc Kray extends up to rupture another edimmu in mid-flight while it is looping around for another pass at Bryn.

All 4 Attacks Hit
E4, E6, E8, E9 all down

One edimmu trails Kray for a moment trying to get an opening to descend and attack, but seeing its fellow spawn getting split and serrated, thinks better of it and pulls up to circle at a greater height.

"GGGGAAAAAAAAAAA. A FURY!!! CUTTTS - ZZZOGGG!!!" it buzzes.
OOC:
Ez, Kray did not have Disadvantage to Attacks, so I just took the first roll on each set. Kray made one tier Save on WIS, but was under the full Save tier. Result of that was limited to Disadvantage on Ability Checks.

Maeriks (DM control)
R1

The chain has released from the bull's horns, and Kray just cut free the tentacle monster from its face, but the bull is still spooked from the stress. It crashes its horns into the quivering flapping mass of blood, wings, and tentacles that is on the floor, squashing the edimmu body like a pulp. Quick and heavy hooves follow, with pulverizing stomps.

The chains whirl and clang behind the bull; the big animal spins around to face the threat.

Agitated at the sight and sound of the rattling chains, the bull does another slow turn, shaking its head and making a small front leg hop to crash hard on the floor to show power.

With a strong snort, the bull steadies and holds its head alert, scanning for danger, nostrils flaring.

No other edimmu targets close enough to ground for Gore / Trample
Mar 27, 2019 12:55 pm
Elam snaps out of his taunt stance after the kick that killed Suter-Set. Swords still in hand, he scans across the room to assess.

"Brother, are you alright!?", he calls out to Iasu.

Seeing that the others have cleared an area, his eyes look up to the one remaining edimmu in the air and then down into The Pit at the fliers that descended into the depth.

After a scan downward, Elam looks across again to Kray and Iasu. "The fliers will come back. I can take control of The Irons here at The Stone. Keep them away from me if you can - I have to work quickly!"

Sheathing both weapons with a spin and quick thrust, Elam turns on his heel and reaches into his small pouch strapped tightly around his waist. He pulls out a rolled animal skin and lays it on the floor of the platform, in front of the menhir stone. Kneeling down, he opens his bag of chalk and rune plates and sets to work.

Elam wipes the sweat and spattered blood from his brow and glances nervously over the side of the platform at The Pit.
Mar 27, 2019 2:17 pm
Ryhim closes his eyes briefly in the lapse. He wipes the sweat and blood from the exposed part of his face before reopening his eyes. He stares at The Pit, sheathing the kukri and drawing his bow. He takes an arrow and raises it to Elam before nocking it and falling back away from The Pit.

Elam works quickly, apparently preparing a ritual, on The Platform.

From the depths of The Pit, the terrible voice carries up again.

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/ye3pgz5481mzwmg/Bushyasta%20speaks%203.JPG

Though it is distorted and strange as before, the profane voice is speaking messages that can be understood with concentration - still it is a mental strain to encounter the disturbance of this otherworldly speech.

Elam looks up and listens, then gets back to work with purpose.

Following this, the buzzing and chatter of the flying heads boils up as a noisy clamor. The edimmu sound invigorated...and they are getting closer - from the estimate of it by the increasing volume, soon to reemerge!
Mar 28, 2019 5:10 am
Kray acknowledged Elam with a nod as he picked up on Ryhim's new position behind the bull. "Iasu, Bryn, get some cover, arrows at the ready to loose the moment those bastards rise from the Pit!"

He was now fully intent on taking advantage of Maeriks' weight in bull form, shouldering Maeriks with his shield, guiding the beast's facing to provide maximum cover toward the pit. To hammer the point home, he pointed toward the bull with Judgement, as if to say here. The bull would provide mobile cover, to be sure, as necessary, much like siege machines employed in times of war.

At that, Kray positioned himself next to the bull, facing the pit, at the ready for whatever might rise from it.

"Brace yourselves, gentlemen! Fire on those bastards bats the moment they come up! Thorn, mind those chains!"

Ranged guys have a ready action with arrows for bastard bats. Rally Thorn.
