Battlefield Notes and Description:
The opening of The Vault doors is creating a strange terrain development.
All of the ground around The Pit is more like a down ramp, the edge of a collapse, not a squared-off sharp edge of a cliff.
Since the line of ground on the north end of the chamber is increasingly narrow as you move east, that means that the ground all the way to the north wall is sloping inward to The Pit, making that area quite treacherous to travel on.
Now with the trajectory of the opening door, it appears as if the door will open out and be a large blockade like wall that extends out over The Pit.
The sloping ledge of the north wall then would run under the overhanging door.
To speak plainly about practical things: anyone trying to loop around to The Vault will have to take it very slowly and very carefully to pass along the narrowing remnant of a footpath and under the obstacle-like overhanging door.
A DEX check will be involved for any takers. I think it's obvious that it would be a high-stakes DEX check, since failure would mean slipping and falling into The Pit.
May be other options that you guys think up, perhaps the use of securing equipment or and effort to place secure handholds/footholds (pitons and small hammer anyone?) - those could show promise.
Not trying to lead the way here, not sure what your guys' priorities or reactions are - just trying to throw that out there because I was thinking one of the obvious things to do might be "I run around the north pathway and enter The Vault!"
Might be possible. But running? No. More like carefully walking and hanging on for dear life. And there is a risk involved.
