Modified Greyhawk Initiative.
OOC:
Could be right, bro. Action options are limited and a lot of things still influencing Iasu's position. Throw something up there and we'll see.

I mainly was just excited to put Iasu on the board with potential to be back into SOME SORT of action... maybe?

Come on, hands free. Sure, he's chained upside down in the dark over a death chasm, but it's a start! Ha!

Ryhim hears him scream as he falls. And then the sudden stop. Elam is thrown from the great height to hit the hard stone floor.

As Ryhim steals a glance, fire lurches up in a burst in the cauldron right beside him. The same from the other two fires further away. Floating embers spray up into the air and fire light bathes the room again in a flash.

Elam is on the floor, wounded and broken but trying to get up. He screams in pain. The pit fiend is right behind him, approaching with its grasping claws.

Bryn hangs over The Pit in front of an inverted Iasu, the razor chains attaching to the iron bands wrapping his legs.

Maeriks is ducking through the chain barrier at the exit. The big Dannein oaf looks back, eyes wide with fright. He motions for Ryhim to come on.

Dozens of giant bugs with humanoid features swirl through the room. Their whirling flight and droning wings turn the room into a tornado of motion and noise.
[ +- ] chasmes!
Bushyasta makes his signs, triumphantly from the Platform, behind the stone menhir as if convening over the mayhem.

And high in the ceiling, just inside the veil of shadows, there where Elam was previously climbing on the north wall - something terrible lurks. And roars out. The sound is like a shockwave of terror.

RESCUE R5
Maeriks

"Go, Maeriks. Move through and run."

Maeriks hears Bryn's voice in his head. It sounds just like Bryn is talking right to him.

Maeriks talks back to his friend, thinking the words as loud as he can.

"Get down off of those chains! Those big bugs are everywhere now. Come down and come with us!"

Maeriks ducks and climbs through the space in the chain barrier, but looks through trying to see Bryn from the other side. There is a flash of fire. Everything turns really bright for a moment, and Maeriks can see everything. There are monsters everywhere. Iasu is hanging upside down on chains and Bryn is still on a chain high in the air.

Bryn speaks to Maeriks in his mind again, "I will be able to get out another way. I'll catch up with you later somewhere else. Now go, Maeriks! Go find Kray and Thorn - they are going to need help carrying things."

Then Bryn laughs and says, "And go find some clothes, bull - quit acting like an animal!"

Maeriks thinks back, talking to Bryn again in thoughts. "Where are you going to meet us? When do we meet there?"

But there is no answer. Bryn stops talking. Maeriks thinks he must be getting ready to cut Iasu off those chains, but he is not sure.

Maeriks was already backing away without even thinking about it. Now he turns and faces uphill, up the tunnel. He's so tired, but he has to get out of here, so he keeps walking. There is a light coming from the room ahead.

When the light flashes up again, the Small Irons are finishing their attachment, weaving and interlocking with the bands on Iasu's legs.

With the chasmes everywhere, it is too loud to talk. Bryn speaks telepathically to Iasu as he faces him, though inverted.

"I don't know exactly what the Small Irons Gate looks like. There should be a tunnel or a door or something. Pull out and get away as fast as you can."

Bryn puts the kukri into Iasu's hand. "Take this."

Now with that hand free, Bryn motions at the Small Irons and speaks another set of eldritch commands.

Interact with Environment

And with that, Iasu is pulled briskly upward and away towards the north west corner of the ceiling, carried off by the Small Irons.

Looking down in the swirl of chaos beneath him, Iasu sees the entire scene of mayhem that is the Chamber of the Pit as he flies above it, hurdling forward and upward, lifted by the bladed chains.

He hits a couple of the flying giant bugs along the way. The insectoid fiends are everywhere.

Iasu sees Elam on the floor now, injured and struggling to rise. The rust-colored monster is almost upon him.

In a startling flash, Iasu is suddenly dragged right past another monster that glides by and descends out of the high shadows. A great serpent, with the body and arms of a man - not arms, weapons. Spears of bone.
DMJ sent a note to jabes.plays.rpg
The monstrosity drops from high on the wall and lands with a thud on the ground right at Elam.

But that glimpse is all that Iasu can see before he is pulled into darkness.

Getting banged and bumped as he hits a ledge and pulled into some sort of tunnel, it is all Iasu can do to hold tight to the weapon Bryn gave him. The iron bands are inert now, but still lock his legs. They scrape along the stone as they are dragged.

Iasu is dragged up a slant, in some sort of stone chute. The sound of metal scraping stone and then metal chains rattling and clanging and then whisking away.

Iasu finds himself finally at a complete halt, lying on his back in the small stone chute tunnel, with his iron-bound legs facing uphill. The bladed and hooked chains are completely gone - their clanging and scraping noise abruptly silenced.

The top ceiling of the chute tunnel is only slightly more than and arm's lengths up. Iasu feels it as he pivots up at the waist.

The walls of the chute are close together. Close to Iasu's sides. Iasu could probably turn around in the tunnel IF he could bend his legs, but he cannot.

Iasu then smells the fresh air. Letting his eyes focus and adjust, he can gradually see that there is a low light source coming from higher in the chute tunnel.

There is no mistaking it, Iasu knows that it is the light of the moon.

Ryhim cleared for ACTION!
Apr 22, 2019 9:21 am
Ryhim smiles at Elam's abrupt landing but he dares not speak, even to chide, basking in it is reward enough. The roar echoes throughout the room but he dares not draw an arrow for it, whatever has been unleashed here is beyond him. He puts pressure on his leg and begins for the chain barrier. He stops just at the cusp, making sure Elam and Bryn are in his view, then he nocks an arrow.
OOC:
Setting up shop next to the barrier, where Maeriks is at on the beginning of the round 5 map. Delaying my attack, providing cover support for Bryn. Delaying the rest of my movement (15-45 ft.) to solidify/confirm Elam's demise.

Iasu cleared for Action
Apr 22, 2019 5:10 pm
Iasu blinks. Moonlight? An escape route? Could it be he might actually make it out of here? But where is Bryn? Iasu tries to wriggle free of his restraints, but he's just too drained and weak.

Two stab wounds. One in the low corner of the back. The other in the back of the thigh.

He had tried to break the fall with a roll, but he was off balance and could not control his turn. His left leg was probably broken. His hip and left arm severely bruised if not fractured.

Despite the devastation, Elam was instinctively on the move. He rolls to the side as the pit fiend tries to stomp him. Fighting through the pain, he pushes up. In agony, he sets his feet underneath him. Straining through the pain and dizziness, he trods forward with a terrible limp.

Disengage.

He could get through the chain barrier.

Then he sees.

The Sarceran. Bow drawn, pointed right at him. Nearly impossible to miss at this range.

No!

Elam's body language captures his realization. He freezes, captured by the shock of it. There is nowhere to run.

This is the end.

Hyp, there is a split second here. Bringing it to full delivery. Harvester and GPF are coming, but your delayed Action could still be first.
Thought you might enjoy the shot. It's an option if you want to write it out.
Sneak Attack applicable by adjacent enemies 5' (though no Advantage that I can see).

EXFIL

Kray and Thorn take quick moments to seize Elam's abandoned shoulder bag, a ring of keys, and recover some of their own useful equipment cached outside of the Snake Door.

At a cautious but steady pace, they begin to move towards the armory and well room.
OOC:
Keeping this at this point now. The meta-gamer vision right now suggests that maybe Ryhim and Maeriks move up and reunite? Maybe so. Since it is a possibility, I want to stall briefly to see how it times out (if it does).
