Has anyone stepped forward to roll the Data Search?

"Until that street rat came along, I was browsing some hardware and software options to help out our capabilities on the 'trix while we're here. With about 40 large in upgrades, my 'link could pass as a decent hacker... Anyone want to pitch in on that effort?", Vann looks about sardonically.

Then to Jericho, "I think we're doing this one without a presence on the Big Shiny."

Wak watches the transaction with annoyance, I hope that was just some candy. Wak draws his Ares and attaches the silencer and then dashes into the alley pointing the silenced pistol into the thugs face. "Don't make a move my friend. Drop the rifle. Simple questions and I want the truth or I will put a slug in some particular body parts. First one goes through the foot, understand? Why are you tracking her?"

If the thug makes a move to his rifle, Wak will grab the barrel with his other hand to keep it away from him and will repeat the question, except the pistol will be pointed at his face. If too far away he will try to shoot him in each arm to disable him. If the thug starts firing he will put two in his face and then quickly try to disappear.

As Wak makes his way into the alley, Goldie takes up position at the only way out of the alley into the street, the large golden-eyed troll in the knee-long brown jacket crossing his arms and making as menacing a presence as possible while simultaneously keeping an eye out for passer-bys on the street as well as a firm eye on the goon Wak is interrogating. After Wak has spoken, he adds:

"If you value your limbs and life, you better start talking, and that talk has better damn well be of use to us. None of your friends can help you out of this one kámoš. What's another dead goon in an alleyway mean to anyone here in Lagos? Sure as hell doesn't matter to us."

Jericho turns to Vann, I think we've got bigger problems than lack of information... those two are gonna get us killed.
Feb 15, 2018 1:58 am
The elf looks over his shoulder, "Hm? Wha...!?", he quirks an eyebrow and unconsciously checks his Predator in its holster, then scoffs, "Didnt everyone just give me a speech about not drawing attention to ourselves?", he tries to keep Jane moving and guide her out of line of sight of possible gunfire.
Feb 15, 2018 2:49 am
Jane lets herself be guided by Vann. She does say over her shoulder, "I'm sure those two will be all right. Right?"
OOC:
Ok, Wak, let's have an Intimidation+Charisma roll from you, opposed by this guy's Intimidation+Willpower. You'll get a -1 because he's on his home turf. I think other modifiers are probably washed out or equal between the two of you so I'll leave it there.

Goldie, go ahead and make the same roll. Your hits will be bonus dice for Wak's roll.

Edit: I'm looking at two hits.

Intimidation + Willpower - (7d6)

Looking to Jane, Vann muses, "Those two are our muscle. If they can't handle these goons, we have a bigger issue..."

Next Vann inspects the tracker, to determine if there would be any danger in removing it from her bag, and if not he pops it off and crushed it under heel. "Guess there will be no using this to our advantage now..."
Feb 15, 2018 6:36 pm
Vann's cursory inspection doesn't reveal any trap devices or explosives or anything he can see that would threaten him or Jane if removed. It cracks and grinds under his heel, now a destroyed mess.

rolls below

Rolls

intimidation - (2d6)

(16) = 7

The ork in front of Wak grins and puts his hand on the grip of his AK. You hear two other weapons chamber a round from the shadows to either side of you.

"You no belong here, nwa ocha. Maybe you run back to elf nwanyi who hold balls, yes? You leave while you alive."
OOC:
You failed to intimidate him. I see two options: You can escalate or walk away. He doesn't seem to want to fight at this exact moment.
Feb 17, 2018 8:07 pm
Jane looks at one half of her crew confronting the ork in the alley and then to the other half of her crew standing beside her. Shaking her head, she says, "I think we're going to need to re-equip ourselves sooner than I thought. Let's go shopping before we head to the hotel." Pulling out her commlink, she sends a quick message over to Wak and Goldie. Wrap it up, you two! Lets go get kitted out before we run into anymore problems.
Feb 17, 2018 9:46 pm
Vann cranes his neck and tries to peer back in the direction of the confrontation, "Are they talking to them!? ...well that's interesting... I figured they were just gonna go frag 'em. Forget gear, we need to have that 'game plan' talk that I tried to have on the plane... You've given us no hint at what we're actually doing, so people are just going out on limbs."
Feb 19, 2018 2:32 am
Jane shakes her head in frustration at Vann's comment. "I know! I didn't expect the shit to hit the fan so soon..."

Pulling out her commlink again, she enters in some text and sends a file over to Vann. "Those are the basics of what we're doing. I can't discuss it here, obviously."

The document you receive reads:

"Samriel stole a map, the Piri Reis map, from my employer. How he got it and from where are not pertinent. This map is very valuable and I must recover it. We believe that Samriel is looking to sell the map, so time is of the essence. We must find him before he sells the map. Any buyer would likely be from outside Lagos and traveling to another zone to follow the map will be very expensive, a cost my employer wishes to avoid."
Feb 21, 2018 12:34 am
Wak nods to the ork, "Stay away from her and we won't have anymore problems, next time it won't be as civil." Wak backs out of the alley still ready to shoot the orc in the head if necessary. Damn I'm going to have to work on my ork growl. Wak smiles, Hell I normally just shoot first anyway. I think I stayed my hand as I still don't know exactly what we are doing here.

Wak just nods to her as she says wrap it up, "Done," he simply says. "At least for the moment."

Wak scans the document, Hmm a sale? Wonder who could handle such a valuable item here? Have i heard of anyone here in Lagos?A fence? Shadow Auction house? hmmm . . .

Wow... dangerous flirtation with critical glitches, my friend.
Feb 22, 2018 3:35 am
OOC:
Because this is a place that's not all that familiar for any of you, I'm going to set Basic Knowledge at a Threshold of 2. So, that means Underworld succeeded. I would have liked to give a dice penalty, but the dice were already thrown. That's no big deal at this point. So, it looks like we've got a glitch, as well!

Also, I seem to remember than Wak has been to Lagos before. If I'm wrong in that, let me know.
Wak thinks back to his previous trips to Lagos and remembers that crime is rampant in Lagos. There's no official law, in the form of the Corps, here. The city is chopped up by two rival tribes and some minor Corp presence and the boundary lines fluctuate from week to week.

Because there is no law, the law comes down to who has the bigger crew and bigger gun. Any kind of business can be transacted anywhere but people tend to group together in markets to make it easier. The markets spring up wherever there is dry land. That's hard to find because most of the city sits in and around swampy land.

The biggest market that Wak remembers is about a half-hour walk away from the airport. It'd be a good place to gear up and ask around about Samriel or fencing anything like a map.

Wak also recalls that Yoruba is the trade language used in Lagos.
OOC:
To be clear, the language bit is your glitch. Yoruba is NOT the trade language, but Wak totally thinks it is. Were we at a table,
I probably wouldn't say, but because of the slower nature of PbP, I'm telling everyone so we can make sure and see what happens when Yoruba is used where it shouldn't be.

Goldie waits until Wak is safely out of the alley, before he too slips away from the goon's sight and joins the others with the ork. He wasn't going to leave a crew member alone in such a dangerous situation, regardless of the wisdom or lack thereof of Wak's action, and regardless of the fact that the two hadn't even really gotten to know each other yet. It was a matter of principle for the troll. A team of Shadowrunners had to have each others' backs. Knowing how things could easily have turned out when Wak pulled a gun on the goon, the troll had felt obligated to back the ork up. If he hadn't, the goons in the alley might not have let Wak withdraw without a fight... The thugs would surely soon report to their superiors that a ork and a golden-eyed troll had meddled in their affairs and even pulled a gun on one of them, but so long as it had only been sharp words and not bullets that had been exchanged, whoever was in charge of the goons probably wouldn't care that much again.
