Mouse sees the gun being raised and he frowns and pushes past Jane, filling up the entire doorway of the plane. He leers down at the lead orc and crosses his arms. As Mouse folds his arms, his sleeve falls back revealing a spiderweb of tiny tattoos that climb up his arm, disappearing into his sleeve. Any ganger would recognize these as kill count tattoos and Mouse seems to have dozens of them

I'm a bit new in town, but we seem to share the same language. Why don't we just stick with the 100?, says Mouse in a snakelike tone.
OOC:

Attempting an intimidate roll with Mouse. 3 hits.

Vann curses inwardly, the gamble was a big whiff... Black Mamba is no local.

He steps up next to Mouse, moving with the calm and purpose of one who is obviously. - to the orks- used to being under gunpoint, using the mystic control of every muscle in his body and voice to project lethality, and smiling a smile that doesn't reach his eyes, "Heh, you seem to have misunderstood... we are the snake."
OOC:
Gonna assist Ikenage. Away from books, but I believe the successes on my check are bonus die for Ikenage. I have 12 Intimidate so I'll just buy 3.

Wak just smiles and lets the talkers do their thing. I don't think those guys care for keeblers at all. Wak looks relaxed but he is ready to spring forward dodging gunfire if necessary. Hmm I think the negotiations are going the wrong way!!

OOC:
In the future, let's not roll dice until we've discussed the intent, teamwork and looked at modifiers.

Vann, I'll need you to roll your pool. A critical glitch could increase the threshold.

Mouse, after Vann rolls and gives you bonus dice, roll those bonus dice only. Don't re-roll your pool.

The baddies will get +1 die to their roll since they are sporting bigger weapons than you are. (You don't have your weapons right now, remember, since you had to pack super light to get here).
The ork raises his rifle to point first at Mouse, then at Vann as each of them speak.
OOC:
They are at 7 dice for Willpower + Intimidation to oppose Mouse's Charisma + Intimidation roll.

Edit: Looking at 4 hits!

Rolls

Willpower + Intimidation - (7d6)

(5651152) = 25

OOC:
So Vann can carry literally everything he owns, so is there another reason I couldn't have my stuff?

Also, isn't the point of buying successes that you sacrifice your average success rate (1-in-3 becomes 1-in-4), to not risk glitching?
edit: And/or crap rolls like that one XP

Rolls

Intimidation Assist - (12d6)

OOC:
Nope! If you aren't carrying any big weapons, you're fine. And, the Buying Hits section lays out when it's appropriate to buy hits.
This is a stressful situation that could lead to something bad. So, I asked for a roll. :) Looks like Mouse gets 2 more dice to roll!

Two rolls, two hits!

also: going to be gone for the next day - travelling.

Borek, the golden-eyed troll merely stands behind the others, mildly annoyed that they choose to run a risk with armed thugs over 100 nuyen each, when they have just landed and haven't even acquired arms yet. A stupid risk to run in his opinion. He did have the concealed heavy pistol that could unfold from his lower right arm at any moment, slide into his hand and blast off the heads of the thugs, but he still felt it was an unnecessary risk over such a meager price, especially as they ran the risk of becoming targets of the larger outfit the thugs most likely belonged to. He didn't find it professional being so indiscrete and reckless and was a bit disappointed and embarrassed with the eagerness to prove themselves over being careful and thinking ahead. Running the shadows successfully did require a certain measure of discretion, cooperation and goodwill with the underworld. It would be a major slap in the face to the local powers in the underworld to kill of a bunch of their goons right on arrival, a sign of disrespect they surely wouldn't let slide. It would most likely make their job more difficult but oh well...

Heh, too funny. Well rolled, Ikenage!

Also if you want to just accept the extortion next time, don't ask the Face to go do Face stuff ;)

The lead ork holds his rifle on Mouse for a second longer, then drops the muzzle, letting the weapon fall to his chest on its sling. He nods sharply. "Good, 100 nuyen each. Welcome to Lagos." He taps the comlink he has strapped to the inside of his wrist and each of you receive a request for transfer of 100 nuyen.

Jane's shoulders drop slightly. Not enough that the orks notice, but, having been around her for over a day, you notice the change in demeanor. She taps on her comlink and transfers her credits, then looks at the rest of you. "Ok, as soon as you're all done here, let's get moving." The ork's features darken as she speaks but he doesn't say anything else, only seems more impatient to receive your credits and be on his way.

Wak agrees with their employers sentiments. What in the bloody hell? Should have never paid full price. He unhappily pays the 100 nuyen. After they move away from the thugs, he says, "We need to pick up our gear quickly. Before words spreads that there is a new team in town that just pays whatever extortion prices random thugs are charging? I agree that we shouldn't have started a fight over it, but hell, never pay full price to guys like that, makes us look weak. Once word spreads that they are new Rubes in town, prices will go up. And you can be damn sure guys like that are going to spread the word." And we will likely be forced into a fight later . . . He looks at Mouse, "Nice try on scaring the punks off Mouse, but let the face," He nods to Vann, "have a chance to negotiate a bit first. That is one of the main reasons he is around. I mean he already got us more money on this job, I am sure he could have handled these punks."

He looks at their employer, "Is there a reason they seemed to have a special dislike for you? Thought it might have been elves in general, but he didn't treat Vann like that."
OOC:
I subtracted 100 nuyen.

Mouse nods and makes the payment.

After the thugs move away, Mouse turns to Wak and murmurs, "We want to be unknown right? Well, who's going to bat an eye at a group that pays the full price? Besides, it was the principal of paying more than the full price that irked me."
OOC:
Subtracted 100 nuyen
Jan 29, 2018 5:51 pm
Jericho quickly transfers the nuyen, relieved that he was no longer staring down the wrong end of a rifle.

Cash or words, I don't care. As long as we're not fighting people just doing their jobs. I'm just glad they're gone.
OOC:
100 nuyen poorer.

Once everyone has made their payment, Jane shakes her head and walks towards an archway that leads to the outer street. The noise level increases dramatically as you follow. Cars line the street, advancing slowly as people move around and through them. The sounds of curses, engines and bartering fills the air.

Jane moves through the traffic to a small tent on the other side of the street. Dark skinned men surround the tent, displaying their weapons and muscles to discourage any... problems.

Approaching the tent, Jane says a few words in a low voice in another language. With a nod, two of the men step aside. Jane leads you into the tent.

Inside, the air is stifling. A small fan sits on a table in the center, moving the air towards the man sitting on the other side of the table. He smiles politely at Jane as she approaches. After another short exchange in the language she used with the men out front, he nods and stands, coming around the table.

"Welcome," he says, "to Lagos. Ms. Jane here has deposited your per diem into the Hawala. Converted to local currency,
you each have an account with 25,000 naira. You may withdraw any amount you wish. Naira that you leave in your account will be available to you at the many other Hawala across the city."
He folds his hands in front of him and gives you all the same polite, mirthless smile he gave Jane when she entered.

Jane clears her throat and says, "It might be a good idea to carry some... ah, some... currency!" she says, finally finding the word, "with you in the city. Many people don't accept electronic creds."
Feb 1, 2018 2:52 am
OOC:
You can say later how much currency you withdraw, if any.
After leaving the Hawala, Jane turns to the group and says, "The hotel isn't very far from here. I say we walk it. It should only take about 10 minutes."

With that, she turns and begins leading the way. She pulls out her comlink and makes a couple taps and swipes and you all receive a data transfer of the address and name of the hotel where she's leading you. A link to a map you can pull from the Matrix is also included.
OOC:
While you're walking, everyone give me a Intuition+Perception roll. Threshold of 3.
Feb 1, 2018 4:08 am
Vann rolls his eyes at the orks further posturing, and all the subsequent hemming and hawing, and finally moves along with the group.

Before entering the tent he clears his voice sharply and speaks to the others while manipulating his 'link, "Anyone who wants to share my image-link feed, I'll send you the icon. Anyone who wants in on some sub-vocal mic chat, same with my audio i/o. Anyone who wants to share their visual or audio channels with me, I think it'd be a good tactical move if we all start getting on the same page... starting about now."

As they leave the tent he get's on the 'trix in AR, and starts absent mindedly browsing some Agent retailers while taking in the sights...

Mouse ducks out of the tent after picking up his per diem. Finally in Lagos, he takes a quick look around the area before moving forward to follow Jane to the hotel.

Not sure if ppl know what I'm talking about OOC, but your PCs almost assuredly would IC... Does anyone have any visual/audio enhancers (contacts, glasses, earbuds?) or cyber-eyes/ears? If so, we can share these inputs IC, so that we can see and hear what each other are seeing and hearing, via an AR heads-up display type setup. Pretty basic Runner stuff...

Or even commlinks, it got glossed over earlier, but at the very least we could be sending text or voice messages to each other... Is anyone interested in using these basic tactical tools?

I'm very interested in this aspect of the game, I think it makes shadowrun stand out tactically from other such games. I've never used this sort of ruleset before so I'm a super noob, but I did purchase the comlink/plugins/glasses you suggested, so I think I'm capable of the basics, IC. Seems pretty straightforward, and I'm pretty good at playing along.

Janes shakes her head, her expression looking like she'd bitten into something sour. "They're Igbo, one of the tribes here. They don't like women." She sighs. "Backwards as hell. I read about this but I didn't expect it to feel like that."
