The next morning, everyone meets at a small warehouse in the private section of the airport. Security waves you each through as you arrive after a scrutinizing look. You arrive and board a small private jet.

Jane stands in front of the seats as you all file in and find your seats and stow your gear. "Good morning, everyone! We'll be taking this jet from here to Asante. There, we'll be taking another plane into Lagos." She smiles at you all. "This jet's owner offers some in flight entertainment for purchase and there are also some linguasofts you can purchase to round out your languages for our mission." She turns and pushes a button on a small display in the wall next to her. "Looks like we've got... Lagos, English, French and Yoruba available."
OOC:
If you went ahead and got some immunizations, spend 100 nuyen and you'll have what you need.
With that, she sits down in one of the plush seats and orders up a drink, leaning her seat back and closes her eyes.
Jan 12, 2018 7:31 am
Wakiza grabs a window seat and leans back to get comfortable. Nice transport. Wonder if they would let me fly it for a bit. He smiles. Probably not.

After she mentions the Linguasofts, Wak speaks up? "They don't happen to have a Simrig for sale, do they?" If so, he will use the upfront money and buy a rig and a Yoruba and Lagos Linguasoft.

Wak will try to get some sleep as well. Was at that damn clinic way too long last night. Too bad I couldn't find that razorgirl again last night. Probably a good thing, I only have a little medicine for this trip.
OOC:
I deducted the 100 nuyen, but I added the 12,500 upfront money if that is okay?
Jan 13, 2018 2:47 am
Janes gives Wak a smile and says, "No, they don't... But I'm sure you'll be able to find one once we get to Lagos."
OOC:
Yep, everyone's got 12,500 nuyen up front!
The Linguasofts are available up to level 3 on the jet. They cost 500 nuyen per level you want.
Jan 13, 2018 11:30 pm
Vann stows his pack in an overhead compartment and his messenger bag under his seat, then settles in for take-off.

At the mention of Linguasofts he grimaces, and addresses Jane, "I'm sure Lagos is quite, eh... metropolitan, but isn't the official language of Nigeria still English? Don't get me wrong, I want to be able to speak to the locals - what good is a face if he can't be understood - but also, when in all of the Winter Court's reign am I ever going to need Your-uuu-bah again? I'll spring for the nanopaste trodes when we land, but this is a business expense. Would your, er, our, now, benevolent employer cover a low rating 'soft to ensure I can do the job they presumably hired me to do?

Believe it or not, I already had plans for every single cred of that down-payment, geared toward increasing the chances of this missions success.

Goldie silently settles into his seat on the plane and places a pillow behind his head, so that he can sit comfortable despite his horns.

The golden-eyed troll smiles when he hears Rhovannion's attempt at smooth-talking Jane into sponsoring his Linguasoft, remembering how the elven face had already succeded in convincing her to up their daily payment to 2,500 nuyen. The crew seemed like a good bunch and Borek already felt confident they were going to work well together and have a good time in the process.

Jericho chuckles to himself as the elf tries to talk his way into something else. Jericho was glad the guy responsible for talking was actually quite good at it. Less trouble for me to get into, he thinks, allowing himself to feel at ease for the first time since his phone rang for the job. He sits back and relaxes, awaiting their departure.

Jane gives Vann a smile and shakes her head. The smile shows more chargrin than actual mirth and she replies, "No, my employer won't foot the bill for any more tools. You're contractors. You've been paid up front and you're being paid to do a job. You supply whatever tools you think you'll need to get the job done."

She leans across the aisle, looking at Vann. "I honestly don't know how much you'll need any of those linguasofts. But, they're available. It's up to you." With that, she shrugs, and leans back in her seat.

Wak smiles as the Keebler gets shot down, That was worth a try. Collect all the assets we can before we get there. Wak says, "I'll take a rating 2 Yoruba just in case." And I'll pick up the necessary accessories for my comms system when we get there. After he tucks away the Linguasoft he attempts to get some sleep. Never know when the action is going to start.
OOC:
Subtracted 1000 nuyen and added the linguasoft to my sheet.

Vann also shrugs and settles back into his seat for take-off.

Once at their cruising altitude, he fires up his 'link and sends a ping to any Nodes in the cabin identifiable as his new teammates inviting them to accept a user access level to the subvocal mic and image link feeds of his audio/visual devices - which are turned off at the moment.

He also sends a group message to the same Nodes;

>>>user_id vanndamn//Anyone else want to talk shop? Jane, is there a plan when we hit the ground?

OOC:
Jane does not currently have any visible nodes.
Jan 18, 2018 2:50 pm
OOC:
Ok, then Vann stands up and says what I said he had typed in the message... Doesn't have to be difficult, I was just trying to bring some flavor.
Jan 18, 2018 7:29 pm
>>>user_id CorpLegal054// Let's talk.

>>>user_id CorpLegal054// Shit. I need to change that...

>>>user_id CorpLegal054 has changed user_id to RunJeriRun

>>>user_id RunJeriRun// Better. Anyone else think this mission seems super vague and directionless? Find some I'll-defined item of unknown whereabouts before some unknown elf finds it first? She's clearly not telling us all we need to know.

Wak doesn’t have any nodes, he was planning on picking up a few things in Lagos. Once the elf speaks up, he says, "Hard to plan this out. If we had a hacker I would suggest hacking into whatever public cams they have in the city and use facial recognition to see if we can fiind the thief. Hell, it is Lagos, cams are probably scarce other than around corp buildings. Same thing with any private auction houses and find upcoming auctions, in case that is what is happening to the item. Probably will be a shadow type auction or sale anyway. We are probably going to have to do it the old fashion way with boots on the ground. Do we know where we are staying? If so, we can at least familiarize ourselves with whatever maps we can find of the area. Ya know for any emergencies we may run into.". That cerebral booster was worth every penny!

When Vann speaks, Jane opens here eyes and look at him with a raised eyebrow. "We've got a lot of travel ahead of us. There'll be plenty of opportunities to discuss any plans and whatnot."

Hearing Wak's question, she answers, "We're staying at the Porto Novo Luxury Hotel. I've never been there before, but I'm told it will suit our needs, just fine."

The flight out of Seattle takes off and you begin the long flight to Asante. After most of a day, you arrive and collect your baggage and Jane presents border security with your travel documents. After a few minutes of discussion, she pulls a comlink out of her pocket and thumbs it, making a transfer of nuyen to the officer speaking to her. She waves the group on through a door labeled 'LAGOS' and sends you to find their pilot, an Innocent Dobiri.

Dobiri is a thin man with dark skin and a wide smile. He greets you all and fusses over the baggage everyone has. He only allows each of you to bring a carry-on bag and a backpack. After getting everyone on board and checking his dials, he gets the plane airborne. It rattles and creaks fiercely during the several hour flight, but you arrive in Lagos just fine, if a little stiff.

Stepping down from the plane, the smells of the place hit your first. Warm, moist air with a touch of the smells of rot permeate the air. Innocent looks at Jane and says, "You tell him that we're square now, OK? I don't owe Black Mamba anything else, now, OK?" Jane nods and smiles at him, then turns to you.

She opens her mouth, as if she were about to say something, then her face takes on a worried expression. "Looks like airport security is coming to get their bribe."

Following her gaze, you see a group of armed Orks walking your way. They wear armored fatigues and carry AK-97s. Behind them, vendor stalls are set up along the walls of the building, tarps stretched above them to protect from the weather where holes in the roof above them let it through. People crowd the area and others zip through on strange, thin motorcycles.

Wak takes some time to study any maps he can find of Lagos. Specifically, around the hotel they are staying and generally Lagos itself. Well, now I get to see if these Mnemonic Enhancers I picked up were worth the nuyen I paid for them.

Well, that second flight sucked a hell of a lot more than the first. Anyone actually named Innocent must be trouble. Wak keeps an eye on him while he is flying us in.

Wak listens to the exchange between Jane and Innocent. Black Mamba, huh? Wonder who that is? Before he can ask he sees the so-called security that Jane pointed out. He speaks quietly, "Okay Vann, you are up. Might not be the best idea to shoot up the airport as soon as we get here. The even worse news is we haven't picked up our gear yet, so all the shooting will be coming from their side."

Mouse folds his arms as he sees the group of armed Orks heading his way and sighs, I swear, shakedowns seem to follow a script nowadays. Doesn't matter where you are, it's always the biggest thugs choosing the longest way to walk to you so you can see all the guns and muscles.

We've just landed now, maybe we should try to not draw attention to ourselves? Also, I need to meet my guy to pick up my gear,
no big boy guns right now.
he says, eyeing Vann.
Jan 22, 2018 7:16 pm
Black Mamba... are you our true Johnson then?, he muses.

Vann doesn't even cast a glance toward the approaching Orks, instead he fussed with the straps of his minimal baggage and speaks softly but hurriedly to Jane, "Seems you've dealt with them before...? They got a standard rate?"
Jan 24, 2018 3:05 am
Jane shrugs, "Not these guys, specifically, but there are people just like them all over the world..." She sighs. "I don't know about a standard rate, but we should probably not pay them what they ask..."

The thugs arrive in front of the group and look over everyone. The leader, who has a big scar running down the side of his head and neck, sneers when he looks at Jane, and talks to the rest of you. "Arrival tax. You all pay. 100 nuyen!" he says forcefully. His hand strays to the handle of his AK to punctuate his point.
Jan 24, 2018 4:28 am
Rho turns on the orks casually, as if he'd only now noticed them. His hands clasped, a slight smile turning into a flat expression of simple regard, "You are here to tax us?!", he gestures to his traveling troupe, "Where do you think your wages come from in the first place? Have you seen, before, what happens when a rat bites a black mamba?", he puts just enough emphasis on the last two words to put the uncertainty in their minds. Was it just a coincidence, or was it a veiled reference to whoever' name seemed to carry this weight?

The ork raises an eyebrow and chuckles. His companions chuckle dutifully behind him. "I know lot of snakes. Not that one." Again, he points to Vann, then to each member of the group. "100 nuyen. Each."

Some of the merchants in the pop-up market by the wall of the building notice that this interaction seems to be taking longer than what they're used to seeing. Some begin to whisper to others. Some hunker down, expecting trouble while others find a perch to sit on and watch the fun.

Jane, steps forward and says, "Gentlemen, I'm sure we can..." The lead ork snarls at her and brings his AK to bear, pointing it right at her face for a second. Without a word, he spits at her feet, then lowers his weapon and says to Vann, "Now 110. Each."
