Walter nods, not needing any other reason. He draws out his dagger and begins to cut the head from the zombie in front of him. He cleanly cuts the head off but leaves it on the ground. Enjoy that......I guess.

Rolls

Medicine for zombie decaptitation - (1d20+2)

(16) + 2 = 18

I place the head in my bag. I smile. Much obliged.

The man nods again to Alyx and moves over to the large stone in the center. As the others rest and bind their wounds, he inspects the rock, looking for any clues to what caused the discoloration, and how it got there.

Rolls

Investigate! - (1d20+6)

(18) + 6 = 24

OOC:
Assuming the short rest has been accepted and I'm rolling hit die...please disregard if we end up not completing the rest.
Ohh my aching feet...
OOC:
6+2 constitution = 10 current hit points for Sorgrimm..much better.

Rolls

Hit Die 1d8 - (1d8)

(6) = 6

Balak determines that the flat boulder is a natural part of the cave, a harder stone that the cave was carved around. The top shows signs that the boulder has been repurposed as a sacrificial altar. Walter joins him and points out, within the darkest part of the stains, tiny chip marks made from blades or axes.

If anyone else would like to roll for a short rest, go ahead now.

I sit down next to Sorgrimm. "You know what they say, that which doesn't kill us only serves to make us stronger. At this rate, you'll be stronger than me!"

Rolls

Hit Dice - (1d10+3)

(4) + 3 = 7

After a meal and some down time, Xella and Sorgrimm have partially recovered and you're ready to proceed. While you hear no noise from the tunnel to the right, you do hear the occasional brush of noise (light scraping or shuffling) from the left one.

Which way do you go?
Feb 20, 2018 2:37 pm
Sounds like there may be more of the undead in that direction. Sorgrimm indicates the left tunnel. We came here to clear the cavern so we should probably head in that direction first. Take out known problems at least. We can always double back to fully explore the cavern. Someone with good eyes should take the lead...make sure we don't trigger anymore traps.
OOC:
regardless of which cavern we decide to go down, Sorgrimm will take the 4th or 5th rank in the marching order.

I look at both tunnels, trying to sense any magic from one way or another.

Rolls

arcana - (1d20+5)

(18) + 5 = 23

Feb 20, 2018 4:05 pm
OOC:
Alyx's high arcana roll tells him that he once read a piece of lore indicating that he doesn't have the ability to sense magic, heh. Unless I'm missing an ability?

OOC:
Nope, but it doesn't hurt to try, right?

Balak steps up. I can lead us out. He sheaths his javelin, exchanging it for his warhammer, and proceeds forward, looking for any signs of danger.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+4)

(17) + 4 = 21

Brave and noble Balak, know that we are here to support you no matter what challenges you may face. He pats Balak comfortingly on his shoulder, then slinks back into the middle of the group so that he isn't too close to Balak when he gets mauled by the inevitable swarm of zombies further down the tunnel.
OOC:
Dazzle is granting Bardic Inspiration to Balak: Once within the next 10 minutes, Balak can roll 1d6 and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw.

Balak looks back for a second when he feels the pat, and says, Thanks Sir Silvertongue! In the next tavern I have a drink waiting for you!

The narrow passage is about ten feet high in most places, with rough, irregular walls. Protruding spurs on the walls are coated in dried blood.

Eventually this natural passage widens out:
The star-shaped cavern ahead has many clefts in its walls. Only two, across the cavern, seem large enough to traverse. Three zombies lurch about the area. One is costumed like a bear, another is dressed as a lady in a frilly dress and thick makeup, and the last is costumed as a jester with jingling bells on its collar and sleeves.

They do not immediately react to Balak, though whether they have seen him or not isn't clear.

Lovely, Dazzle mutters at the macabre spectacle.

He turns to Alyx. So, uh, necromancer? Time to, y'know, necromance? He gestures vaguely in the direction of the shuffling zombies, hoping Alyx will somehow make them go away.

Balak says, I second that notion. I don't mind smashing, but it may be easier to you your magics.
Feb 20, 2018 9:47 pm
I don't know if I can take them all myself. If someone can hit multiple targets at once, I can lure them all into one area, though. I say.
Feb 20, 2018 9:50 pm
Okay well before we launch into battle, can't you, like, talk to them or something? Or at least find out what they are doing?
Feb 21, 2018 2:58 pm
I don't communicate with the dead. I raise them and manipulate them. Although I must admit, it's more of a hobby and apprenticeship. I'm not a full necromancer quite yet.
