Episode 1: Pradesh

OOC:
Unless anyone objects, I think we can hold a similar order from last time:

(Point) Urban w/ torch - Barracus/Erdan - Ybus w/ Light cantrip - Rydler (Rear Guard)

The turtles can assimilate or not as they will. Last time, Rafiel was not integrating at all. Lio was in the lead because they supposedly knew something about the environment and where we were going. If that makes sense to them now, that's fine. If not, Urban will gladly lead.
OOC:
Urban has no intent on carrying any of the potions. His assumption would probably be that Erdan and/or Rydler would manage that.
Urban coordinates with everyone, making sure that the entire team is ready.

When Erdan gives the signal, Urban moves forward down the south tunnel.
Jun 15, 2018 8:51 pm
Erden gives the potions to Rydler to manage, climbs back up on Baracus, and nods, "Time to move."

OOC:
I'm back!

What's everyone's HP status? Prior to the short rest, Ybus will cast Cure Wounds twice for those that need them (then recovers the spell slots after the rest, ha). He will ritual-cast Alarm near the entrance to the room.
Ybus' little fingers busy themselves with spells as everyone rests. He closes wounds so that the scars leave little happy faces, then wards the resting area by humming an obscene shanty.

As the party recovers, Ybus inspects the laboratory. He gleefully oohs and aahs at the many colors, and immediately begins to pocket the vivisected rats, the pale blue crystals, and the slime-holding jar. Should others try to stop him, Ybus strongly contests any attempted confiscation of the rats.

When the group is ready to move out, Ybus falls in line, humming happily to himself. He ties a dead rat to his belt and casts a Light cantrip upon the corpse.

Nothing disturbs the remainder of your rest in the laboratory. Even the voice has gone silent. You take whatever seems useful to you and head back out on Erden's signal. Urban holds his torch steady but Ybus' glowing rat swings crazily at his belt as he walks, sending lurid shadows dancing across the tunnel walls.

When you turn south at the channel intersection the voice starts up again - softly at first, but increasingly excited as you draw near. The south tunnel splits at the end. Down the right-hand (west) branch you glimpse a bit of earthen floor. To the left (east) the tunnel is narrow: Ybus and Erden could walk right in but the rest of you would have to turn sideways. It would be a bit of a tight squeeze for Baracus (half speed for medium creatures). The voice seems to come from the right (west).

What do you do?
Jun 16, 2018 9:18 pm
Baracus turns to Lio.

"You claimed to know the sewers better than anyone; what insight can you offer on how to proceed?"
Jun 17, 2018 12:43 am
The instant Baracus speaks the disembodied voice falls silent. In the sudden quiet you hear the rippling of the sewer water, the quiet crackle of Urban's torch, your own breathing. "We've never been in here." Lio whispers nervously. Gesturing at the narrow east branch, he adds, "But I sure wouldn't want to be caught by a slime in a tight spot like that."
Jun 17, 2018 12:47 am
"Whatever's waiting for us, it already knows we're here." Rafiel growls, starting to shoulder past Urban. "Anybody see anything?"
Jun 18, 2018 2:44 am
"What's going on?" Myche and Don-Yi whisper from the back of the group.
Jun 18, 2018 8:37 am
Urban stares down the wider tunnel to the right. The red-banded turtle man spoke true. Whoever, or whatever it was that was whispering and laughing had known they were here in the tunnels since the fight with the slimes at least.

Urban nodded at the turtle who had pressed to the lead, urging him either onward or out of the way. Urban was tired of this cat and mouse game. It was time to find out the source of this voice.

Enter right/west tunnel
Jun 19, 2018 6:33 pm
With Urban in the lead, the group proceeds carefully down the west tunnel. At the end is a chamber with an earthen floor strewn with animal bones. A drainpipe spills sewer water that pools on the mud floor before eventually finding its way into the gutter.

OOC:
Only one of you beat its Stealth check but I will rule that Baracus' Natural 20 counts for double. So the thing does NOT get to take a surprise turn. Unfortunately the enemy beat more than half the good guys on initiative so it still gets to act first.
Baracus glances upwards just in the nick of time. The half-orc yells out a warning and leaps out of the way just as the thing drops from the ceiling. A putrid mass, as if a black slime had regurgitated the mound of rat flesh it had been eating and then decided to couple with it, all rheumy eyes and quivering tails and gaping maws. From these disgusting mouths issue the voice you've been hearing: muttering, gibbering and cackling, driving you crazy! The floor around the abominationt is carpeted with grasping, rat-tail-like tendrils. One of the creature's mouths chomps on Urban (crit for 31 piercing damage, and must save vs. Prone condition). Another mouth spits a gob at Rafiel's feet (Rafiel, Urban, Erden, and Baracus must save vs. Blinding Spittle).
OOC:
This thing is a Gibbering Mouther on steroids (to be accurate, it's on Blue Sky). So along with your actions I will need people to roll some saves.

• DC 10 WIS save vs. Gibbering.
• DC 10 STR save vs. Aberrant Ground.
• DC 13 DEX save vs. Blinding Spittle.
• If you're bitten, make a DC 10 STR save or be knocked Prone.

Who's affected by what? Refer to this battle grid.

1. I will roll the Mouther's damage from now on.

2. We will use this battle grid. I have removed the incorrect map and updated the link to allow you to edit the map to update your position on your turn.

3. Isn't Erden still astride Baracus' shoulders? As long as he stays there, he is unaffected by Aberrant Ground and doesn't need to roll STR saves.

If Baracus fails his save and is stuck, Erden can use half movement to dismount and THEN he'll start rolling STR saves.

If Baracus is bitten and goes Prone, Erden falls off. DEX save to possibly land on his feet.

If Erden himself is bitten and fails the STR save, he falls to the ground Prone.

Does that make sense?
