I appreciate the offers, Ryn and Basra. I am more of a bowman, myself, but I could use a crossbow in a pinch. Perhaps I can work to craft some arrows myself, if pressed.

We were duped? Now that IS unexpected. He says musing on their way to the mansion. What would this Vampire want with us though? He continues, half-heartedly asking their new guide.

"Ismark, I detest evil. If the Vistana are involved, then they should be held accountable. If they are being used or duped by this dark lord, then they should be told so that they know they are being used."
Apr 30, 2018 1:49 am
As you walk out of the Inn, you see a group of wolves that were gathered by the door run away at your arrival. Ismark looks at them with a contemptuous eye before answering. This is not the first time I have seen a group like yourself lured here but I do not know for what purpose. All I know is that Strahd doesn't want you to die as, if he did, you all already would be. As for the Vistani, I believe some of them know but none would care if they did. They do not have the same concerns as us, Ryn, but they still should not be crossed lest you be cursed. He says, his voice hardening as he discusses with Ryn.

A moaning sob floats through the still, gray streets, coloring your thoughts with sadness. The sounds flow from a dark, two-story townhouse, across the square. Ismark seems to be ignoring the crying as he continues to walk around the block in the opposite direction.

"Ismark, what is making that noise? Another trick by some being to lure the unwary astray?" Basra asks striding beside Ryn.
Apr 30, 2018 2:18 am
I'm afraid not. Her daughter ran away a week ago and she's been like that ever since, sobbing and sobbing. Its very sad but nothing can be done. I fear the worst for the child. Ismark says, not looking back.

As they leave the Inn, Ryn turns to Basra and Greymond, "What is your read on this fellow? We have already been tricked by this place once and I don’t want to fall again. How do we know that he is real, or that he is who he says he is. See if either of you can get a read on him, but most of all stay on guard. I feel there is much more to this place than what is being told to us."
Apr 30, 2018 4:43 am
Basra says in a voice just loud enough for Ryn and Greymond to hear, "When we first entered the tavern and he noticed us, it seemed like he was a little too interested in our group. He seemed especially interested in Greymond and Wil. I’m not sure if it was just because we might be able to help or if he had an alter opt motive regarding our friends, but I would be aware as well. Maybe we should not be alone when possible I guess."
OOC:
Basra will try to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
Apr 30, 2018 5:59 am
Fellows, I am also skeptical. We should stay alert, and not separate. Wil continues to keep his senses sharp, constantly surveying his surroundings.
Apr 30, 2018 12:59 pm
Greymond watches the wolves come and go. Aren't they usually pack hunters? He says commenting on the wolves. As they walk he considers everyones words. He speaks low to respond to Basra walking a little slowler letting their guide get ahead a bit. This whole thing seems strange. Did you get a read on him in the tavern? He continues to walk with the rest of the group.
Apr 30, 2018 1:04 pm
Basra speaks back to Greymond in the same volume "He seemed a little too interested in you and Wil, though I know not the reason. It might be that he is just glad to find a party that might aid him, but I'm not sure. Be on your guard just in case."
Apr 30, 2018 2:04 pm
Greymond recalls their time in the tavern Have you seen anyone here smaller than a human? He asks trying to muse why the man might take such an interest. Or perhaps he's a nefarious dick. I'll keep an eye out. He sticks a hand in his satchel reflexively in any case.

A weary-looking mansion squats behind a rusting iron fence. The iron gates are twisted and torn. The right gate lies cast aside, while the left swings lazily in the wind. The stuttering squeal and clang of the gate repeats with mindless precision. Weeds choke the grounds and press with menace upon the house itself. Yet, against the walls, the growth has been tramped down to create a path all about the domain. Heavy claw markings have stripped the once-beautiful finish of the walls. Great black marks tell of the fires that have assailed the mansion. Not a pane nor a shard of glass stands in any window. All the windows are barred with planks, each one marked with stains of evil omen.

Here we we are. Ismark says, walking through the broken gate to the door. He knocks and says Ireena, its me. I have finally found people willing to help. A slat in the door slides out, revealing a set of eyes, before the door opens and uncovers the rest of a girl dressed in noble clothes. Ismark quickly goes inside and the door closes. The slat slides away once again and the same set of eyes fill it. Approach the door. a feminine but sturn voice says.
Apr 30, 2018 3:44 pm
The eyes disappear from the slot and a stream of cold, clear liquid replaces them. The liquid sprays forth and covers Wil, the coldness reinforced by the blowing wind.
Apr 30, 2018 3:52 pm
Wil, feeling cold, attempts to walk into the door.
Apr 30, 2018 4:10 pm
The door is locked. Not yet. Let me get your friends too. the same voice says. Once the rest of you come into range, a stream of water sprays you. Only when each of you are wet does she open the door. Come in, quickly.
Apr 30, 2018 4:11 pm
What is this? He says pulling a vial out and bringing his hand back but not throwing the vial just leaving his hand there. Better speak
Apr 30, 2018 4:24 pm
It is holy water. She is spraying us to make sure we are not cursed by vampirism.
Apr 30, 2018 4:29 pm
Ryn grabs his cloak and dries his face. "Where are we my friends that this is the way they greet newcomers."
