OOC:
I would assume just work stuff. He's a player in a game I DM on here, and he posted on that threat, albeit once in the last few days.

OOC:
Yeah, I haven't had a lot of time to sink the amount of thought that this game requires. I believe that my post frequency might begin to get closer to my original estimate. Bear with me.

Ryn: Ireena ventures with you and Ismark stays behind, trying to keep an eye on the army of wolves. You all begin to hear muffled talking as you head toward the back of the mansion.

Basra and Wil: Strahd points toward Basra Very clever of you, Master Basra. I am Count Strahd von Zarovich and I am the master of my realm. You are all guests in my house. He settles down and walks over toward the now-closed window. In truth, I find most of you very interesting. It is a shame about Master Baroth, however. Such a paragon broken by what was once a house full of foolish lunatics and madmen. His head turns as if he hears something Ask them why you can never leave Barovia. Until we meet again, dear friends, Farewell. You see his form begin to dissipate into a fine, dark mist and flow through the gaps in the boards. The sound of many canine feet against the hard ground rings out and gets softer and softer until it disappears. There is now only deathly silence.

OOC:
No worries Endermun, life happens.
Still prepared for Strahd to make an aggressive action, Basra is surprised when Strahd simply walks back toward the window and after saying farewell, he disentigrates into a cloud of dark vapor and vanishes through a crack between the boards into the night. Without turning, he whispers to Wil, "What in the name of Lathander was that all about... And what did he mean by we can never leave Barovia?" He is still standing in the same position, staring at the window and not really believing his eyes, when the others enter the room.
May 11, 2018 9:10 pm
Whats going on back here, where did you two go?"
May 11, 2018 11:18 pm
We heard the wolves coming through the kitchen, so we responded. It was him...Strahd. He charmed Basra and was let in by him. He talked, and then he just left.
May 12, 2018 1:08 am
"It was very unnerving how easily I was charmed... And he even knew our names, mine included." Basra turns to Ireena and says, "Forgive me if I'm prying, but who exactly is Count Strahd in relation to you? Why is he so interested in you? And why did he tell us to ask you why we can't leave Barovia?"

All: You hear heavy footsteps as Ismark makes his way into the hall behind Ireena They've gone! They just ran away, companions, we've succeeded! He says, a confident smile forming on his face. Ireena turns with her mistrusting look He was here, the devil Strahd, he made them go away. Ismark's expression returns to solumninity. Ireena turns toward you all I have no relation to him. I have no clue as to why he pursues me. He started to come into my chambers at night nearly a month ago. He has bitten me twice but I have no sign of becoming like him. I do not know what he plans but I know enough not to see them fulfilled. Ireena's face softens and becomes one of sadness as you reach the last question. He asked because he knows that we haven't told you. You are trapped here just as we are. I'm sorry.
May 13, 2018 7:24 pm
What do you mean we are trapped here? Why are we trapped?
May 13, 2018 8:37 pm
"And where exactly is "here"? This town? This house? Some kind of alternate plane of existence?" Basra asks, putting away his shield and mace, yet feeling less secure than before.
Taking a moment to collect himself he looks to the others and asks, "So how do we fix this situation now? We need to figure out what kind of Problem we stumbled into and how to fix it, even if it's little by little."
May 14, 2018 2:14 am
"He bit you, several times... what does that mean..." Ryn starts to back away from Ireena and turns towards Ismark. "and you brought us here knowing she has been bitten. What is your play here... what are both all about..."
May 14, 2018 3:07 am
Ireena struggles to get a word in through the barrage of questions being thrown her way. After Ryn's question, however, she becomes visibly irritated. That's not how it works! If you don't trust me not to be a monster like him then just leave! She storms off, upset, while Ismark yells after her. Ireena! Come back! He lets out a sigh and pauses, turning to all of you I am very sorry. We haven't been under normal circumstances and the townsfolk shun her for Strahd's interest in her. One of the crueler lies is that she's in league with him. I assure you, companions, that my sister is not a monster. Ismark says, a tinge of sadness in his voice. Now, for your questions. You are trapped in the Barovian valley, not the town. The mist chokes anybody that goes beyond it's borders except for ones that Strahd allows, like Vistani. Ismark reaches into his pack to produce a hand-drawn map. This is all that it encompasses. Vallaki is to the North-West and farther from Ravenloft than we are now. It is my purpose to bring Ireena there to provide her with at least some safety. Now that you know the full extent of our plight, will you help us?
May 14, 2018 3:17 am
I will definitely help you, Ismark. I stood in front of that man and did not shutter. I will not shutter at any signs of danger for your sake. We will get her there.

I trust you, Ismark.
May 14, 2018 4:38 am
"Why does he allow the Vistani to come and go freely and not others?" Basra shakes his head and then, taking a deep breath and straightening up, he says, "No matter. I have already promised to help, and seeing this evil with my own eyes, I cannot turn away now. I too will help in what ways I can."
Turning to Ryn, he says, "This evil must be destroyed my friend."
May 14, 2018 7:39 pm
"I do not like this situation. Basra and I have fought evil before, and I have taken a vow to destroy it, but I do not like being misled and not being fully informed of what we are going up against."
May 16, 2018 2:29 am
Aye, this whole venture has been more mysterious than the things in the underdark. he says inspecting the map before pulling out his notebook Mind if I..? He says not waiting for an answer and starts copying what he can down.
May 20, 2018 2:20 am
Yes, absolutely. Ismark says, surrendering the map to Greymond. As you inspect it, it is obviously traced from another map.
OOC:
The map contains the locations of Castle Ravenloft, a town called Krezk, another village called Berez, and the town of Vallaki. It also provides the names of many of the land features. I will try to get the world guide up to date but its been hard lately.
I apologise if I seemed secretive. I promise that i will tell you all I know about Strahd and the journey ahead after we rest. Pick any of the empty bedrooms upstairs to sleep and we will leave tomorrow morning. Once all conversation had concluded, you all make your way upstairs where you have a uneventful night.

Before long, muted sunlight falls through the boarded-up windows, lighting up the dust floating around the room. You are all awoken by the sound of fierce discussion in the hallway between Ismark and Ireena. Please, we have to leave as soon as possible. I fear for your safety. Ismark pleads. Ireena interrupts with conviction No, absolutly not. I refuse to go and leave our father lying on the floor to rot. With that it becomes once again quiet.
May 21, 2018 6:25 pm
Wil wakes up, noticing the argument. After rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he walks to where Ireena is and says, I noticed that you and Ismark were having an argument. What's going on? He waits for her to respond.
May 21, 2018 6:58 pm
Ireena looks far better than she did last night. The dark circles around her eyes have disappeared and her hair is in a flowing cascade. Our father died three days ago and we haven't been able to carry him to the church to be buried for fear. I don't want to leave him laying there when we go. Its not right to and not what our father deserves. Ireena says.
May 21, 2018 7:11 pm
"If it’s still early, we may catch them off guard and do a quick burial. How far is the church?"
