[ +- ] Saris' Dream
[ +- ] Sovelin's Dream
[ +- ] Herod's Dream
[ +- ] Tomas' Dream
Eleven days have passed. The ship leaving for the new world is due to arrive tomorrow. You are all sleeping in the common area of the Hunter's Mark. It is around 3AM when all of the windows break simultaneously and the front door is slammed open. Four cloaked figures enter, three through the windows and one through the open door. They advance upon you with weapons drawn.

Please roll initiative.

OOC:
This is an awesome start and I love it. If the religion check was for the dream specifically, then Tomas probably wouldn't have his Tides of Chaos again, I'm just not 100% certain of the timing. Feel free to ignore Tides of Chaos if it had been just used while he tossing and turning, dreaming of magic.
Tomas rolls out of his cot, throwing his quilt off and to the side. Lying on the cot is the glowing green shard he has often carried with him. With quick, sure movements, he grabs the wooden buckler that he had purchased about 10 days ago from the floor and straps it to his arm. Naked, except for his shield, he holds it in front of him so as to protect himself while removing the possibility of getting snuck up on by backing up against the wall next to his belongings.
OOC:
EDIT: AC is 12 after using a single free item interaction to grab the shield and an action to equip it.

Sovelin is annoyed by how his dream ended but realizes there are more pressing matters. He looks around and grabs his new enchanted bow. and who might you rude people be? He readies an arrow and launches it at the invader standing at the door. Hope you like the taste of morning wood.

Herod tucks the dream into the back of his mind, but still manages to stand up groggily.

He staggers around, sauntering up to the first enemy combatant as though he is drunk, and then in a flurry of blows he punches at the enemy’s head 3 times.
OOC:
Using 1 ki point for Flurry of Blows; Drunken Technique gives me the benefit of a disengage action when I use flurry of blows.

Tomas rushes up and grabs his shield and takes a defensive position in the middle of the room. Then Herod stumbles into the middle of the figures as if he's just been on an all night bender. Before the figures even have time to react he launches three blows, two of which connect. The figures do not flinch or recoil in any way. However, even though Herod dealt bludgeoning damage, blood splatters the ground as if he had cut them with a blade.

In unison, the four figures move their weapons into stabbing positions. Two of them attack Herod and two go for Tomas.

Then Saris rushes up to one of the assailents attacking Herod. He strikes with both of his hand axes and blood spills all over the common room floor.

Sovelin takes out his bow and shoots on of the figures attacking Tomas.

Round 2 fight!

Herod takes those hits hard, but is still up.

Herod collects his quarterstaff as he stumbles through the room, and as he staggers, he hits one of the combatants with the quarterstaff and kicks him twice, then using remaining movement to disengage and get as far away from the combatants as possible.

As he is kicking, he prays to Tymora: Oh Tymora, bless my blows to find purchase in my enemies' hides.
OOC:
Grabs quarterstaff, ki point for Flurry of Blows, hits, hits, hits, and disengages as he does so, then goes as far away as possible from the attackers.

OOC:
So two of them are flanking Tomas, then? Presumably, each of them right next to the wall since they shouldn't be able to get behind him. And any of Tomas's allies would get advantage hitting these enemies if standing directly across from Tomas, right?
Tomas, seeing Saris and Sovelin get up a bit after Herod and himself, attempts to keep the assassins' attention on him by grabbing his war pick and swinging it up into his hand before putting all his energy into bashing aside and weaving through the rapid thrusts of blades towards him. He begins to breathe heavily in a controlled, rhythmic fashion, working past the pain of open puncture wounds across his arms and torso.
OOC:
Dodge action and Second Wind, used object interact for war pick

OOC:
DM had only narrated the player actions of those ahead of the assailaints in initiative. So you and HCCraft are technically posting a bit early as the enemies should have two turns before you two do. Of course, I fully trust our DM to stitch together narrative even if we all post as a cluster here for each turn, rather than each group of posts representing the half that got beaten initiative and the half that won initative taking their turns for next round, punctuated by monster posts. The second option, in this combat would be more for the convenience of you two in case the situation has changed, making your turn more effective.ï

OOC:
@Saris and Sovelin: Sorry guys. I have added your attacks into the first round post. We're all good now.
Jun 22, 2018 1:13 am
Herod slams his quarterstaff and fists into one of the already wounded figures. The figure explodes in a pool of blood that covers the floor of the common room.

It is at this point that Lena, the halfling prorpietor comes rushing down the stairs. She is wearing her sleeping othes which include a cute little nightcap and she is weilding a massive longbow.
What the hell is going on here? she yells.

The assailants don't pay her any attention and keep attacking.

Then Herod and Sovelin sink their weapons into another figure who also explodes in a pool of blood.
OOC:
Summary:
Tomas is engaged with two figures. Everyone else is free to do as they like.

@Tomas: I have already taken your dodge action into account.

OOC:
Damn, those were some good rolls. I mean, he's only AC 12 right now but the chances for them to be under 12+Shield were pretty good. Disengaging and taking up a tactical position as far away from them as possible, with as many friendly combatants to block their way or hurt them on the way to me as possible.

Edit: Also, it's pretty weird that this site doesn't have a way to track current vs. max HP. The "total HP" will be Tomas's max. Look in his notes if you wish to see his current/total HP, Arina.
Covered in yet more open wounds, Tomas waits for the right moment then staggers forward, raising his weapon and shield to block two more incoming strikes. He pushes past Sovelin, who had come up to aid him, and makes his way towards Saris and Herod, already finished with the other attackers. Legs weak, bleeding heavily, he turns to look past his allies at these early morning assassins. With a groan of effort, his previous breathing pattern in disarray, he raises his shield once more in case they decide to pursue their quarry to the bitter end.

Sovelin moves forward and swing his twin Short Swords at the figures engaging Tomas. These things seem to be of an unnatural nature.

when they die are they completely disappearing? If they aren’t when combat is over can I examine the remains?(Not sure what I’d need to roll)
