Chapter 3

OOC:
That's what heroes do, I assume. If the remaining six orcs are within 30 feet, Tomas will Disengage and continue going after them. Basically to serve as a distraction while the mill workers get armed or get to safety. As I suspect they've dashed on the last turn too and are too far away, he'll begin scrapping with those two on him.

Let me know if it's the first situation, though, and I'll edit my post.
As the orc dodges under the horizontal swipe of his war pick, Tomas quickly pulls it back up and away in a circle before slamming it down into his foe's shoulder as its slow recovery from what was a nimble maneuver left it open to attack.

He eyes the other orc warily as it looks for a similar opening on the half-elf.

OOC:
@Tomas you're reading of the scene is perfect. Otherwise, the orcs would have attacked you. There is a group of about 5 mill workers running into one of the black log buildings. The orcs are hot on their heels.

@Herod: You're about to get an AOO on the orc leader as he is about to be thrown off of his horse. You can roll it now if you like. Otherwise you can wait until your next turn.

Just waiting for Faebis to take his turn
Oct 10, 2018 5:09 am
OOC:
Some technicalities:

A. I think Ronda actually gets an extra d6 on that critical hit due to Savage Attacks (double 2d6 + 1d6 from half-orc racial)

B. I think AoO only happen from willing movement, not forced
Oct 10, 2018 5:53 am
OOC:
@Tomas: Correct on both points. Sorry Herod.
Oct 10, 2018 10:51 am
Frustrated that his first attack went wide Faebis will reach out and attempt to cast inflict wounds on the orc. Looking over at the where the orc leader is, Faebis will cast Spiritual Weapon and set it over top of him. Taking the form of a mace, it will swing down on the orc leader.

OOC:
@Faebis. Not a problem. I worked late tonight :)

Initiative Order
Herod 21
Tomas 18
Krigare 14
Ronda 7
Faebis 7
Orc 6
Herod launches a massive overhead strike with his staff and it connects with the orc leader's clavicle. It grunts in pain. Then Herod launches a steady flow of unarmed strikes but none of them seem to find a gap in the creature's armour. The lowly orc soldier tries to land a blow on Herod but, he lurches away drunkely.

Ronda, seeing that Faebis has things well in hand moves up to assist Herod. She rushes over and watches as her wrist guards form into thick liquid, steel gloves. She rains a massive haymaker onto the head of the horse and its skull collapses, instantly killing the beast. Its rider is thrown to the ground.

The creature then falls to the ground as his mount is taken out from under him. He falls unceremoniously to the ground. Getting up, he steps over the corpse of his mount and thrusts his spear into Herod's side.
OOC:
Herod: take 14 points of damage.
Tomas raises his war pick and scores a solid blow against one of his foes. However, it shrugs off the damage and moves in to attack. One of the orc aims a low blow which he easily deflects but, unfortunately, this is just what the creature planned, as his partner swings high and catches Tomas across the side of the head.
OOC:
@Tomas: Take 15 points of damage
Krigare grins, takes a step backwards and raises his blade as the orc instinctively steps forward. The blade tears through the creature's throat. The wound is no doubt mortal but somehow it manages to stay on its feet and attack in combination with its partner. The two launch a powerful sequence of attacks. One of them manages to catch his foot with its axe. He stays on his feet but, he stumble for a moment and opens a gap in his defences. The other orc wastes no time and lands a solid blow on his mid-section.
OOC:
@Krigare: Take 11 points of damage.
Faebis concentrates for a moment and then you all watch as his shield glows with a bright white light symbol in the form of a flying bird of prey. The light circles his fist as he drops his mace and grabs the orc by the throat. You watch as black lines seep across its face as if it had swallowed some awful poison. As he lets go the creature doubles over and begins to vomit so violently that its organs come out of its mouth. It makes a horrid sound and falls to the ground dead. Then he summons a massive glowing hammer next to the orc leader. The mace raises up into the air and comes crashing down against the creature's shield. The force of the impact clearly damaging the orc's shoulder.

You hear a massive warcry and turn to see Serpentskull, massive great axe in hand, charge into the group of six orcs harassing the mill workers. He looks like he knows the business end of an axe but even he can't kill all eight of them single-handedly. He'll need some support as soon as you can muster it.
OOC:

Tomas is currently engaged with two orcs.
Herod is engaged with one orc and the leader of the orcs.
Krigare is engaged with two orcs.

Oct 10, 2018 5:05 pm
Herod, feeling the effects of the loss of blood, seems really drunk now. He sways into the fray, flipping his coin one last time high in the air, pleading, Tymora, help your servant.

He swings and attacks with a flurry of blows towards the head of the orc leader again.

Once the flurry is unleashed, he disengages from the group, moving 50 away and behind cover of a tree or something like that.

OOC:
Casting Shield in reaction bringing Tomas's AC to 24, negating that really lucky damage roll. Edit: Oh man, so close to actually activating a Wild Magic Surge.
Tomas's shield catches an ax but the second of attention is all the other one needs to aim a well-placed strike right into Tomas's head. Tomas lets loose a warcry of fury and desperation as he tries to pull his head back out of range, but even as time seems to slow down with the adrenaline pumping through his veins, the half-elf recognizes that the massive blade is coming in too fast.

Suddenly, his scream multiplies in his ear as it hits a certain pitch and his vision goes blue. From his foe's perspective, a blue field of... something comes into reality around the head of the lone humanoid they're facing. As the ax connects with the field, it somehow slows even more in Tomas's vision and barely passes in front of his eyes, harmlessly.

Though he's nearly as confused as his enemies in the wake of this strange occurrence, Tomas's understanding of his true magical nature gives him a critical few seconds as he strikes again, trying to catch his bleeding foe in the side.

Initiative Order
Herod 21
Tomas 18
Krigare 14
Ronda 7
Faebis 7
Orc 6
Herod, launches a series of blows against the orc leader but, seemingly as if too drunk, his blows all fail to find their marks. Then he staggers out of the way and retreats back to his tree stump. Faebis rushes over to him, holy symbol in hand and Herod feels some of the ache leave his tired muscles and some of his wounds begin to heal at an unnaturally rapid pace.
OOC:
Herod: heal 10 hps.
Tomas magical instincts save his life from a blow meant to cave in his skull. In addition, the orc's blade stops in mid-air leaving its weak stomach umdefended. Siezing the opportunity, he thursts his war pick into the creatures unprotected abdomen and rips out its intestines. The creature falls to the ground and tries, uselessly to put them back in before it dies.

The orc facing Krigare launches a massive offensive, probably trying to provide its heavily wounded companion with the opportunity to tend to its wounds, but Krigare calmly knocks the creature's blade asside and then slides his own blade up the shaft of its axe and into its unprotected throat. The creature makes a sickening sound and drops to the floor dead. The blade of Krigare's sword glows bright red and he feels a strange, violent power growing within him, urging to be released...
Arina sent a note to Tsavo
The other orc fighting Krigare, seeing its companion die launches a desperate attack and tries to overwhelm him quickly. Its axe lands a nasty blow on Krigare's shoulder.

Ronda, sizes the orc leader up and then launches a stunning, lethal combo which culminates in a massive upper-cut which catches the orc under the chin. She feels its jaw break and the creature is thrown back. Then, its jaw hanging loosely, it moves in to retaliate. The leader thrusts its javelin into her side and as she steps out of the way, the orc standing behind her lands a nasty blow on her thigh with its axe.
OOC:
@Ronda: Take 2 points of slashing, 2 points of piercing and 4 points of lightning damage (8 total)
