Chapter 3

@Moon: two points. First, Tomas shows no obvious signs that he is lying but he does look hard to read.
Second, you have seen necromantic magic users in your travels and they tend to use their magic for selfish reasons.

@Everyone else: Necromancy is illegal in the Immerald Empire and most of the civilized nations. Most believe it to be a perversion of the natural order and in direct conflict with the teachings of Pelor.

— R-r-right... I say while not fully convinced. But you lot do live dangerously... Water elementals, skeletons as ... allies. You're anything, but a 'normal' bunch, I have to say.

I size up everyone around me while talking and still trying to understand why those visions led me to this group.
OOC:
Are half-orcs common around there? Moon is contemplating dropping the disguise and this would affect this decision heavily. :)

@Moon: They are not rare but I wouldn't say they were common. You come from a travelling family and this isn't your first time travelling through a frontier. Generally speaking, frontier settlements don't have the luxury to turn away manpower. They need as much of it as they can get, so they tend to be a little more tolerant of half-orcs, drow and such.

[ +- ] Spring to Tomas
If you wish to give the second option a try then please give me a stealth and an athletics roll please.

Add nothing to the rolls.

OOC:
Actually before making a real attempt, let's test their awareness. Maybe skeletons are like their buddies or something. No problems.
[ +- ] Tomas to Skeleton Alpha
He then watches the water to see if any of the elementals reform or move in a hostile manner, commanding Skel-A to return if it looks like there's danger and says to his companions, plus the new arrival, "We'll see if they react at all. I'm Tomas, by the way. Nice to meet you, stranger."
Nov 9, 2018 2:33 am
You issue the command and watch as the skeleton you designate as Skeleton Alpha walks into the water towards the chest. It makes it all the way to the chest (about 15 feet out) when you see the elementals rise out of the water and attack it.

The first attack misses the skeleton but the second connects and smashes the skeleton into small bone fragments.

Rolls

Water Elemental attack 1 - (1D20+5)

(6) + 5 = 11

Water Elemental attack 2 - (1D20+5)

(14) + 5 = 19

Nov 9, 2018 5:11 am
"Okay, so they still look like a threat to those elementals... Anyone want to be brave with me and run up to drag it back while the bones approach and distract the elementals from different sides?"
Nov 10, 2018 11:34 am
Krigare nods. "Lets go."
Nov 10, 2018 11:57 am
I stand still and look at what is transpiring with interest, but most of my attention is on the monk and half-orc.

— Pleasure. You can call me 'Moon'.
Nov 10, 2018 1:38 pm
@Krigare and Tomas: If you wish to rush out, grab the chest and bring it back it will take you two rounds to do so and I'll need a successful athletics check from Krigare with advantage because Tomas is helping you.

Tomas moves out into the water at the halfway point with Krigare and Ronda. Mentally, he commands Skeletons Beta through Epsilon ("Where am I getting these names from?") to move into the water at a distance from the chest to form a loose circle around the bounty.

"Now!" hisses Tomas and all of his minions start running towards the chest, the trio of beefy adventurers following soon after.
OOC:
I'll let you do those rolls, Krigare. Edit: I changed it around a bit to include Ronda in the attempt.

OOC:
Is it too late to have Ronda join Krigare and Tomas?
Nov 10, 2018 10:55 pm
OOC:
No andd I will significantly lower the DC of the check if 3 of you are doing it.
Nov 11, 2018 1:16 am
With a dark look at the skeletons, Ronda heads back into the water with Krigare and Tomas.

Like a well oiled machine you execute your maneuver with precision. The skeletons rush out and as soon as the elementals show themselves you rush towards the chest.
Krigare rips the chest out from between the rocks and the three of you make a break for the shore line.

The water elementals rip the skeletons to pieces but by the time they have finished you are all safely ashore with the rather large chest. You examine it and find that it is locked.

What do you do?

As Ronda throws her clothes back on and collects her clothes and her pet mouse, she seems to notice the newcomer for the first time. "Uh, where'd you come from? Wouldn't happen to have a lockpick on ya?"

Ronda learned to use lockpicks as a kid on the streets, but she never did get her own set. Brute force was more her sstyle anyhow. She tries to smash the chest against a rock. She lifts the chest to maybe smash it against a rock, but realizes it's too heavy even for her, and that method would likely break what's inside.

"Well? Any ideas?"

@Ronda: You have some experience with breaking into things. The chest is quite large and would take some effort to smash against anything. Also, your background would probably tell you that if you do try and break into the chest this way then you will likely destroy any fragile items in the chest.
