Chapter 3

OOC:
That attack modifier should actually be +6, not +5, due to Spring's gifts - don't think it mattered though. Total is 9 points lightning damage, no wild magic surge. Also, I edited the placeholder post for the information Tomas shared about the elementals. Also, still trying to get around to editing his travel post and maybe putting something up in his thread with Spring.
Tomas doesn't draw his pick as he stands on the shore, Herod's unconscious form lying between the water-y creatures and him. Not after what Spring had told him... He'd have to try and rely on the strange energy that was apparently drawn to him.

Facing his two open hands together, like he's grabbing some invisible ball, Tomas chants slowly at first and to himself and then picking up in speed in volume.

"Come on, please. Magic, Magic, MAGIC, MAGIC, MAGIC!!!"

Halfway through, his chanting his right hand begins to shine a bright, painful blue-white while the left emits a sickly green. The two energies come together and form a swirling ball of energy as he lifts his hands overhead. Crudely, he lobs the ball forward as the blue-white energy overcomes the other and lands on the elemental's shoulder. A loud sound is heard with the ball's impact and steam is sent billowing forth. Tomas looks down at his hands in surprise and returns his hands to their original position, palms facing one another.

Remembering himself, Tomas splashes into the water to come up to Herod's form, Krigare doing battle with the creatures just in front. As he tries to find a grip on the monk's clothes to carry the man away, he shouts to both of his conscious allies, "To shore!"

OOC:
@Herod: no. Krigare cut you free. You are floating face up at the moment.
Nov 3, 2018 10:30 am
Seeing Herod floating, seemingly lifeless, Krigare's determination rises. Cutting him free is one thing, but the creature can still do damage.

"Help is needed here," he calls over one shoulder as he swings his blade again, "Herod has fallen. I'll keep the beast engaged. Pull our friend to safety."

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+7)

(17) + 7 = 24

Damage - (2d6+5)

(31) + 5 = 9

Ronda tosses the chest onto the sand and turns back, expecting to see Herod right behind her but instead sees him unconscious in the water. Damn! I told him to run! Then she hears Krigare's call. Throwing her knife at the watery creature as she moves, the half-orc splashes back into the water to help Tomas haul Herod to shore.

Rolls

Knife throw - (1d20+6, 1d4+4)

1d20+6 : (14) + 6 = 20

1d4+4 : (3) + 4 = 7

Athletics to haul Herod (advantage assuming Help from Tomas) - (1d20+6, 1d20+6)

1d20+6 : (12) + 6 = 18

1d20+6 : (18) + 6 = 24

OOC:
@Ronda: Oh that's what you meant by clutching the chest. I totally misinterpreted your action last round. I thought Ronda was clutching her chest. Whoops! The chest is pretty big. There is no way Ronda could have ripped it out from between the rocks, and dragged it to sure in 6 seconds lol. Even with a dash.
Tell you what though, we can retcon your action to disengage in which case you can ignore the AOO damage (5 points).

Also, hauling Herod out of the ocean would take your action. So I haven't counted your attack this round.

On the bright side, you don't need Tomas' help. I set the DC at 14, so even without advantage you'd make it. Also, don't you get advantage on strength checks while raging?

The two water elementals take two final strikes against Krigare as he provides cover for Ronda and Tomas to drag Herod's form from the ocean.

However, Krigare bats both sets of tendrils away, sweeping his greatsword in defensive arcs, he successfully covers their retreat.

Once everyone has left the water, the elementals vanish beneath the waves.
OOC:
Combat is over everyone. But Herod is still in trouble.

@Herod: Death save please :)

Rolls

Water elemental attack against Krigare - (1D20+5)

(7) + 5 = 12

Damage (bludgeoning) - (3d6+3)

(122) + 3 = 8

Water elemental attack against Krigare - (1D20+5)

(10) + 5 = 15

Damage (bludgeoning) - (3d6+3)

(323) + 3 = 11

Tomas helps Ronda drag Herod out of the watery shallows to safety, with Krigare on their heels. He nods to the intimidating paladin, aware of the divine blessings he can impart upon others. Herod should be up in no time.

Tomas looks at the chest, back at his allies, and then down. Thinking of Spring, the jade green shard materializes in his hand.

"... It looks like they're guarding that chest. They seem pretty strong. I don't think we should fight them, not when Berda is in danger and we're making our way to a mad wizard.

But I don't like to lose either...

I'm- I'm going to try something. Don't freak out, please. Spring says that they're safe and under my control. I trust Spring... and please trust me."

With that, Tomas cuts into one palm with the point of the elliptical shard, his blood shooting up into the shard in tendrils then dissipating in a wispy fashion, as though it were underwater.

The sands of the beach start shifting...

Rolls

Skeleton Summoning - (1d4+1)

(4) + 1 = 5

You all watch lime green energy flow from Tomas' wound into the shard and then strike the ground beneath his feet. A few moments later, the ground near him begins to move
Then skeletal fingers emerge from the soil and begin to pull themselves out of the ground
A few short moments later, you are all looking at five skeletons with bright glowing green flames in their eye sockets. They have no weapons or equipment. They just stand there waiting...

Shortly afterwards, you all hear a strange high pitched grunt coming from the edge of the forest. You turn and see that a plain looking human male with tanned skin, short black hair has clearly just fallen over, perhaps distracted by Tomas' new friends.
OOC:
Welcome to the game Kuroi, please give me a performance check for Moon.
Nov 5, 2018 8:36 am
— What in the...? I grumble, as my foot catches some root while my attention was focused on the skeletons...

Performance - (1d20)

(13) = 13

@Moon, you notice the bald priest with the coin, lying nearby on the ground, unconscious and possibly dead.

@Everyone else: The man's voice seems a little high pitched.
Nov 5, 2018 12:35 pm
OOC:
Wasn't that perception?
Nov 5, 2018 12:56 pm
OOC:
Oh I just set a DC for you. Not a contested check. I guess I could have used passive perception.
Nov 5, 2018 1:20 pm
OOC:
No, I mean - you wrote "give me a performance check for Moon" :)
I thought it was for how good Moon played 'I just accidently stumbled on you all' :D
Passive Perception is 16, and if that roll was for Perception - its total is 19
Nov 5, 2018 1:40 pm
OOC:
Ah no. Your performance roll is to see how well you play the part of being a human male. Ah I see now. I have edited my previous post. It should make a little more sense now.
Nov 5, 2018 3:25 pm
OOC:
To be fair - five skeletons just appeared! :D
Many men would have high pitched voices :D

Death save - (1d20)

(10) = 10

Nov 7, 2018 1:12 am
Krigare sheathes his sword and immediately attends to his downed ally. Resting a palm against Herod's shoulder and mutters a low prayer to the Lady of Strategy.
OOC:
Lay on hands for 5 hp to stabilize and (partially) restore Herod.
Nov 7, 2018 4:43 am
Tomas, noticing the new arrival, shouts, "Don't worry, they're under control! Safe!"

Though he's yelling at the tanned man, his words are also for the benefit of his allies. He looks over to them earnestly, to see how they're reacting to this development.
