Baraq takes to the sky. Whether the group decides to stay out of it or intervene, she will find the best position in the sun to observe and act.

"Find our what they're about, at least." Cat starts walking purposely towards the group.

Your group makes their way towards the band, walking and following the lead of the avians. It takes about two hours, but you do manage to reach the group. Up close, it looks to be three generations of closely related humans, all with threadbare clothing and a decided lack of food. The oldest of the men sports a scraggly white and gray beard, and eyes that are like his compatriots: hollow.
Who, who are you? You aren't with those tuskers, are you? he stammers out as you approach, eyes squinting at Catriona.

"Tuskers? Do we look like tuskers?!" Cat has no idea what tuskers are, but she doesn't like the sound of that. "You, there! Take this food, share it amongst yourselves. Where are you headed?"

Unable to hear the conversation below, Baraq remains in the sky. She tries to keep herself in the position of the sun while she watches the groups.

The older man looks slightly taken aback as he stares back at Catriona. Tuskers are orcs, girlie. Nasty vile beasts. We're running from a pack of them. Have been for nearly five days so far. Ran out of food yesterday. Had to melt snow for water this mornin'. Please tell me you'll help us? They can't be but an hour behind us by now, we've been slowed up by all this snow. he says, words starting to chatter slightly as the frigid wind whips up again.
Baraq, the winds have started picking up, though the skies remain clear. You can see the orcish band is still approaching from afar, likely about 20 minutes away from the position now.

Baraq tries to count the number of individuals in the larger group from this distance.

There are ten humans in the larger group, and you can now see that the other group is five armored orcs.

Good sport, Baraq thinks, though risky. She maintains her position, hovering on the wind, and prepares to launch herself towards any trouble encountered by the others.

Aera nods, "We can help," he says before launching himself up to meet Baraq, "Orcs to kill. You'll fight?"
Feb 1, 2019 10:24 pm
"Fight anybody," Baraq answers. She takes out her shortbow and nocks an arrow, ready to commence the attack. She gauges the distance to the orcs as they are an hour away. "Fight now?"

The orcs appear to be about 20 minutes from the humans currently Baraq. They are moving quickly, well adapted to the snow.

I guess we've been spotted by the orcs, so no chance of an ambush. What's the plan?Last edited February 7, 2019 3:27 pm

As the humans scatter, Aera nocks an arrow, says "Fight now!" and fires at the orcs.

Baraq folds her wings in and falls into a dive, seeking to close the distance. Knowing that she can't reach the orcs, she fires an arrow to soften her targets.
