Looking around nervously Crolwell will nod once at the guard. "Sorry my good sir, forgive my outburst. Um do you know where I am, I don't remember what I was doing a second ago". With this he turns and walks back to Ütés. Examining the gate as he does so.

"Sorry about grand-dad. He gets this way from time to time. We'll be on our way..." Ütés responds to the guard as Crolwell walks back to the group. She gives Crolwell a wink and a smile before turning to the others and whispering in elvish, "Any ideas? Maybe there's another way in..."

Aelar will approach the guard, "How long will the gates be closed for? We have urgent business in there and can't afford to be delayed," he will say calmly, "I assure you that we are not muggers, and we are more than able to handle ourselves if we should be accosted." he will finish turning as to display his fine Rapier to the guard as of to prove the point of taking care of themselves.

Crolwell:
The gate is at least 15 feet tall, looks to be made of wood and iron. Certainly heavily built. Up about 10 feet up there are more slotted metal pieces to make it look more decorative, but you get the feeling this isn't something you could just knock down. The walls that surround it are equally as high stone walls topped with spikes that appear as though they were intending to look decorative, but they just look menacing either way.

PhantomNimbus sent a note to teaanddice
"Until the king orders them open again", the guard replies curtly, "A lot of people have business in the docks, but I have my orders. I assure you, many people in this town could hold their own, but this gate is to remain closed. Orders of the king", he finishes. He enunciates every word of the last sentence in a fairly condescending way.

Crolwell will attempt to catch the eye of the guard by insulting him. He will stand there, holding his rod like the guard is holding his halberd. And he'll do it in a mocking fashion. Once the guard gets annoyed at this or glances over at Crolwell, Crolwell will begin tapping the equivalent spot on his rod where the carved image is on the Halberd.

The guard has become infuriated, though his partner just seems to be amused by the antics going on. This may be the most interesting thing he has seen all day.

As the guard carrying a very sharp looking halberd is about to charge Crolwell he stops. He seems confused with the gesture of the old man at first, then stops and looks as the handle of his weapon. He raises an eyebrow for a moment as more confusion floods his face. "Are... are you?", he asks, looking intently at Crolwell, "Who? Who has sent you?"
Sep 19, 2015 3:16 am
Crolwell steps back and turns to Ütés. "What is this guy talking about?"

(OOC: I am turning this over to Ütés, this seems like an important conversation that she should be handeling... not Crolwell).
Sep 19, 2015 5:39 am
Getting more upset and flustered by the moment the guard tilts out his halberd and readies his grip on it. "Either you need to state who sent you, or leave. If you do not do one of those two things in the next moment, you shall regret the choice", he growls through gritting teeth, addressing the whole group at this point.

Seeing the situation escalating a bit the other guard grips his halberd a bit tighter. He remains at his post just yet, waiting to see what happens.

Crolwell looks quizzically at the guard's Halbard.
"Hey, sir, I've got one of those! And I think you can think for yourself who sent us. Sam*cough*Uel*hack*" Says Crolwell pulling out his dagger pin and flashing it discretely and then dropping to his knees and starts coughing uncontrollably.

As Crolwell is on his knees hacking up a lung, Ütés will raise her hands in front of her to show the guards that she is simply trying to diffuse the situation. "Easy there. Neither grandfather or my friends mean to cause any harm. We're simply trying to go about our business which just so happens to include access to the docks. If you can't let us in under orders then so be it..." Her voice trails a bit as she crosses her arms in front of her and her eyes narrow and focus in on the guard.

"But to raise your weapons in such a non-violent situation is inexcusable behavior for one that wears such a uniform. Where might I find your C.O.?"

OOC: Looks like I forgot to add the +3 to the roll. Still, BALLS!

Intimidation [+3] - (1d20)

(3) = 3

Crolwell sighs, she is going to just make things worse! He will rip the halberd from the guard's hands and shove the hilt in Ütés face, pointing at the Dagger insignia inscribed there.
"Pointy things, remember?"
If he successfully achieves this he will hand the halberd, politely, back to the guard.

Rolls

Strength - (1d20+6)

(16) + 6 = 22

The guard, still in his confusion, and at this point pretty much not even noticing the existence of anyone in the group besides Crolwell, tries to keep a grip on the halberd. But Crolwell rips it from his hands and holds it up to Utes. She can now clearly see an insignia carved into the handle of a Dagger that looks exactly like the one on the pins. Surprisingly the guard just accepts back the halberd, walks over to his partner and says something quietly to him. With this they look around and open one door to the gate enough to allow you entrance.

"You must be pretty fresh recruits", the guard says quietly to the group, "I do hope you learn more discretion then this if you are to become a member of...them."

Rolls

Strength Contest - (1d20+2)

(11) + 2 = 13

Aelar will look on in horror as he watched Crolwell rip the halberd away from the guard, but will relax when he points in the Daggers' insignia on it. He will nod to the guards as they walk through the open gate.

"Oh... I see." Ütés mutters to herself as she finally catches on to what Crolwell was going on about. As she passes the jumpy guard she fights her urge to give him a glare for what she considers unprofessionalism from a person in uniform and simply follows the others into the gate.

I follow behind the others, shrugging at the guard.

PhantomNimbus says:
"...if you are to become a member of...them."[/b]
Crolwell, as his barefeet are slapping against the pavement, holds his finger up to his mouth as he passes the guard. He'll start shaking his head. "Shhhhhh!"

As the gate closes behind you you find yourself in rather quiet district. Looking down the lane ahead of you it leads all the way down to the shipyard. As you walk you pass by a tavern, a general store, and a few other local businesses. There are also a few small merchant stands selling trinkets.

The streets themselves are fairly bare. Given the rash of attacks and murders you could understand why few people would be out and about in the district. As you near the boatyard you see only a few ships in port. One of them is being loaded with goods and you see a female barking orders on deck. Her skin is flame-red colored and she has two distinct horns protruding just below her hairline. Despite the horns her face is sharp and smooth. "C'mon, we haven't got all day, we have to get this finished before our little whelps show up! I won't be upsetting Samuel by causing delays!"

The crew of this particular ship is a flurry of activity trying to get various crates and barrels loaded on board.
Sep 22, 2015 9:43 pm
"Looks like we've found our ship, yes?"

Watching intently as the crew goes about their business Ütés asks, "Perhaps we should offer to help the Captian?"
Sep 22, 2015 10:40 pm
"Seems that way, doesn't it?" Aelar will watch the crew go about their work for a moment, "Yes, I suppose it does look like they could use some help," with that he walks toward the captain.
Sep 23, 2015 12:05 am
Crolwell nods his head... and continues to nod his head.
"Oh, yes, yes. Should I introduce us to the red goblin with horns?"
