Keavan

Keavan takes stroll around town taking in the festive air. He passes by various vendors selling trinkets, jewelries, fruits and vegetables, variety of prepared foods and snacks. Keavan watches children running around in glee as their parents try to keep up with them. It makes him wonder how different his childhood could have been compared to his own.

Breezy
Ket_Onwall says:

While at the market, amidst all of the hoopla, Breezy will look for anyone selling grapes. He really wants grapes right now, and his wife didn't buy any when she went shopping.

Ooops, mixing real/fantasy... :D:D:D
Harlo thanks Breezy and informs him that he is working on collecting donations. He thinks he can squeeze more out of his neighbors. Before Breezy departs, Harlo warns him, "That man over there, he's some sort of fortune teller - but he gives me the creeps. I bought this charm from him - for a good price too!" He shows Breezy a necklace inlaid with small dark opal. "But, he kept complementing me on my bone structure or something. But, it was like he was talking to himself. And those two with him. Something seems off about them. Could just be my imagination. Anyway, this necklace was a steal at least. My wife will love it."

As Breezy leaves his thoughts turn to grapes and his wife and is momentarily confused as he quickly realizes he doesn't have a wife! But, he does find a fruit vendor and buys a batch of grapes for 1 CP.

Yohna and Vardo

The man seems at first a bit flustered that a charming and obviously graceful woman would be talking to him. "Pardon my appearance Miss. Yes, well that's the funny or serendipitous thing. Our boss lady over there - we call her Al, but her proper name is Albaeri Mellikho as in Mellikho's Stoneworks - she's the sole owner. Anyway, so she gave us the night off last night, so no one was really around the quarry when the tremors struck - thank the gods. As for the tremors starting here. I don't see any reason why it would. But... if you ask me, something doesn't sit right with me about that quake. I'm no scholar of seismic matters but, I'm pretty sure - having lived here for years - this region isn't known for its seismic activities. It seems... unnatural.'" Yohna can tell the man seems rather uneasy discussing this matter. She spots him glancing over at Albaeri, she can deduce a hint of nervousness. "I shouldn't really be talking to you right now. Al doesn't like us talking to strangers about 'nonsense' as she calls it. Bad for business. I guess she has a point. And I don't want to lose my job." He then says in low voice, "You can find me at the Helm most nights. We can talk more freely then."

"Not a worry, thank you for your time." Yohna gives the man a nod, acknowledging his final, hushed statement, then turns and announces just a little louder than the rest of the conversation: "Well, thank you kindly for the warning, we'll be sure to take care on the road. Fare thee well!" She winks knowingly, then returns to Vardo.

"You catch that?" She asks the elf, ready to recount if needs be. "It seems you were right to suspect them, though I doubt I could get anything out of someone on site. There's certainly something odd going around..."

"Bad memories. Little nuggets of the past that refuse to stay buried." replies the dwarf, ever the dramatist, even if a little cagey. She lifts a scrap of bread before returning the question, "How about your boss; he doesn't look so mirthful himself. And it doesn't look like you have any love for the man. What's chisellin' the two of you?"
Sep 11, 2018 10:49 pm
Vardo gives the slightest of nods. "I caught that." He strolls a few steps with Yohna and adds, "I knew that forwoman was at the center of something. Well done. I like your approach."

"The way I see it we can either push a little harder now and approach the woman in charge, or we can wait until later to get more information from your pal before proceeding. I like the slower approach. It allows us a fuller picture and the opportunity to bring in the rest of the team if we need to."

He cocks an eyebrow, "Thoughts?"

Falka

"As my old lady used to say, I was born with a scowl. I reckon, it's same with old Ilmeth. Well... I guess she's ain't my old lady no more." The halfling take a big swig of his ale.

"That man is incompetent. I don't know how he still has a business - with the shoddy way he runs it. Especially with Thelorn being the chief competition. Now, if you want a quality wagon you go to Thelorn. Everybody knows that. Waelvur's is full of layabout drunkards - myself and Ilmeth himself included. You ever see bunch of drunks trying to run a tight ship? Ah, well you're a dwarf - maybe you have. But for the rest of us, that shit ain't happenin' - not typically. But, gods bless that wino, he pays the bills - on time I might add." . He gulps down rest of his mug.

He then mutters, mostly to himself. "Come to think of it though... Something's up with Ilmeth. I think he's involved in somethin' over his head, as Yondalla be my witness..."

"So, you're obviously not from around here. What's your story lady?"

Enjoying his grapes, Breezy continues to walk about the market for an hour or so, listening idly to conversations going on. This festival has his curiosity piqued, so he looks to get any further information. While doing so, he also listens to any who might be talking about the strange happening last night (or others) so that he might be able to get a lead on getting more coin.

As he leaves the market to head back to the Helm (thirsty business, rumor gathering!) he stops at the alleged fortune teller. "The gods speak to you? What do they say of my fortunes?"

While waiting for an answer, he will examine the two who accompany the strange fellow.

Keavan and Breezy

Keavan takes a stroll around town, circling around Cairn Road, down to the market and back onto The Long Road. While passing by the market area, he spies Breezy talking to a pale-skinned man sitting lotus style on a mat. The man is accompanied by two heavily robed figures (strange for a clear summer day, Keavan notes) on either side of him standing still in a statue-like manner. Their whole vibe seems otherworldly and more than a bit creepy.

Meanwhile, the pale-skinned man looks up at Breezy smiling - a wicked sort of smile. "Of course my friend."

His dark eyes meet Breezy's. They seem to stare through him - as if in a trance, making him a bit uneasy. After a long pause, he begins his reading.

"The Eye is watching you. But, not just you." Keavan thinks he saw the man glance at him through the corner of his eyes. Back to Breezy he continues, "I can see you're a lost soul - finding your way home. Embrace your home. Embrace the inherent chaos in you - the tempest. The Eye of the storm is where you'll find your solace. Find the tall spire - follow her lead. To the tempest's Eye. Find your true home."

He stops and points at the bowl set in front of him, "Your donation."

Looking down at the bowl, Breezy contemplates just how much he should pay the man. His words were true, to a certain extent. He was looking for a way home. There was (is?) a storm swirling around inside him, but it was just general enough to fit just about anyone who might look or act differently from the normal citizenry.

Shrugging his shoulders, he grabs a pair of silver coins and drops them into the bowl. "Your gods tell me no more than I already know."

If he sees Keavan, he walks over to greet him. With a nd toward the lotus-man, Breezy says to Keavan "Do not waste your coin. He says what anyone might."

Pausing in thought for a second, Breezy adds "Is their a god of the Eye? Who sits atop a tall spire?"

Breezy knows that there are handful of gods of the realm that feature an eye prominently in their symbols, like Helm and Deneir. But, he intuits that none of them are the Eye. Breezy feels in his bones that this is referring something else. Perhaps something older or forgotten.

"I agree. Says Yohna, turning towards the town again. "We needn't draw unwanted attention. Until tonight, I suggest we go about our business, regroup with the others. Maybe ask the local farmers about the 'beast' that's been roaming. There's plenty to keep us occupied."
