Midnight bravely steps forward, waves her staff in a circle around her head and then points it at the bandit. With a cry, she fires three glowing purple darts which track unerringly to the bandit in the tree and strike him (her?) squarely in the chest.

Rolls

Magic Missile (automatic hit) - (1d4+1, 1d4+1, 1d4+1)

1d4+1 : (3) + 1 = 4

1d4+1 : (2) + 1 = 3

1d4+1 : (4) + 1 = 5

Aug 25, 2018 1:54 am
With a great battle cry Falka charges ahead and takes cover behind a trunk of a tree (half cover +2 AC).

As Midnight's arcane darts strikes into heart of the bandit, his chest aglow in purplish white energy. There's a loud scream. Then a thud as the bandit falters backwards and fall off his station. Then nothing.
OOC:
Congrats! First kill! We'll wait for Breezy to roll his initiative then proceed from there. EDIT: Magic missile has range of 120 feet so I'll assume Midnight took her movement before launching them.
Aug 25, 2018 2:10 am
OOC:
Actually, for this fight I'll roll for Breezy.

Rolls

Breezy's Initiative - (1d20+2)

(5) + 2 = 7

Aug 25, 2018 2:20 am
Another bandit emerges from the other guard post as she takes her position, seeing her companion go down she aims her crossbow for Midnight and let a bolt loose.
OOC:
Okay everyone else can go. Midnight, if 13 hits please take 4 points of damage.

EDIT: Everyone with passive perception 12 or higher spots some movement behind the bushes.

Rolls

Bandit Light Crossbow (Disadvantage) - (1d20+3, 1d20+3)

1d20+3 : (19) + 3 = 22

1d20+3 : (10) + 3 = 13

Damage (if hit) - (1d8+1)

(3) + 1 = 4

Secret Roll

Aug 25, 2018 4:28 am
In the immediate confusion of the erupting combat, Breezy is caught flat-footed and unsure what to do. Watching his new friends all leap into action like a well-oiled military brigade, he feels somehow inadequate for the task at hand. However, he snaps out of it quickly, understanding that it was his job to protect the rear of the party. Looking around, he spots the bandit in the bushes, and takes aim with his crossbow. Holding his breath to steady his aim, he lets it fly.
OOC:
Sorry I dropped off today, busy at work followed by my Friday night game. :)

Breezy Crossbow Attack on the Bandit - (1d20+4)

(16) + 4 = 20

Breezy Crossbow Damage on the Bandit - (1d8+2)

(3) + 2 = 5

OOC:
Yes, by "steps forward" I really meant "moves forward 30 feet so that she can magic missile bad guys to death. Thank you for following me in my assumption. Also: ouch. I need a fancier dress that can stop bullets.
Aug 25, 2018 5:05 am
OOC:
At the distance Breezy is at, light crossbow would incur disadvantage on attack roll. Can you roll your attack roll once more? Alternatively, you can spend your inspiration die to cancel that if you wish to keep the current roll.

Hearing Falka loose such a battle cry, Yohna can't help but grin as she makes to set off after her fellows. She smirks victoriously when Midnight downs the first bandit, only to mirror the gnomes concern for her a few moments ago when she sees them struck deep with a bolt from a new attacker.

"Midnight!" She yells, beginning to bolt forward. As she approaches her injured comrade, she raises a hand and shouts: "Spare her yet!" Before a wave of healing energy washes over Midnight.

That tended to, she'll keep moving past the wizard and, finding herself still out of range, prepare to weather a storm of incoming fire...
OOC:
Moving 30 feet, casting Healing Word on Midnight (Bonus Action) and using an action to Dodge (Incoming attacks have disadvantage).

Rolls

I Now Pronounce You Healed - (1d4+3)

(4) + 3 = 7

Aug 25, 2018 8:06 am
Pausing a moment to evaluate the battlefield, Keavan watches as the first bandit goes down. Then seeing movement behind the bush, he heads straight for this new threat.
OOC:
30 foot move.
Knowing he is unlikely to hit anything in the bush Keavan points his red gloved hand at the bandit in the guard post.
Calling on his elvish heritage he calls forth a bolt of fire, hurling it at the bandit.

Seeing the bolt miss, he calls out "Surrender now and live."

Rolls

Fire bolt - (1d20+2)

(7) + 2 = 9

Damage - (1D10)

(1) = 1

Aug 25, 2018 9:31 am
OOC:
I think the long range disadvantage on Breezy's attack cancels with his advantage for stealth, to give nothing.
Aug 25, 2018 10:31 am
Seeing the first target drop, Vardo pivots and focuses on the new threat. He draws and fires in one smooth motion.

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+6)

(2) + 6 = 8

Damage - (1d8+4)

(8) + 4 = 12

Sneak attack damage (in case Keavan is close enough to the bandit to trigger it) - (1d6)

(2) = 2

Remus says:

OOC:
You are absolutely right! Ket you're all good, ignore the request for another die roll.

NOTE: I will post responses to everyone's actions a bit later.

Realizing he is unnoticed, Breezy takes time to steady his aim and let's the bolt fly. It travels is a wide arc and lands square on the bandit's right shoulder. Wincing she looks towards Breezy, then at the fast advancing dwarf.

Soon after another crossbow bolt, then an arrow a bolt of arcane fire both whizzes past her head and sticks to the tree trunk behind her. The arcane bolt is absorbed by the tree and the tree soon catches on fire with bluish flame. A look of panic washes over her face as she see the fire erupt behind her.
OOC:
Midnight, you're back to full health.

Everyone is about 120 feet from the cliffside (100 ft. from the guardposts, 60 feet from bushes) except Falka who is closer at 100 feet (80 ft from guardpost, 40 feet from bushes).

Vardo, if you're taking your movement this round then you'd be 90 ft/70ft/30ft.

EDIT: Falka and Midnight are up.

EDIT 2: I just realized Keavan let loose a fire bolt not an arrow! Fixed.
Aug 25, 2018 4:58 pm
Falka watches one brigand go down with a flash of purple piercing his chest. Skidding on the earth, she rapidly changes her direction to run towards the next, even as arrows and bolts fly all around her.
[ +- ] Actions
[ +- ] Stats
OOC:
Basically ditto last turn, given that Falka's ranged weapons are still at long range.
Aug 25, 2018 6:14 pm
Midnight tugs on Yohna's shirt. "Come on, we need to find some cover. I'm not so lucky to think he wouldn't kill me next time." She looks for the nearest stump or tree trunk or bush to duck behind and makes a run for it.
Aug 25, 2018 8:59 pm
OOC:
Falka, there's no real cover if you wanna go towards to brushes so I will assume you do the dodge action here. Falka, as you get close to the bush (15 feet away now) you can clearly see an entrance of a cave on the bottom of the cliffside, you also see two bandits flanking the entrance with crossbows ready (I'll give you half cover from the ground level only due to the bushes).

Midnight, you're able find a tree and hide behind it.

EDIT: Forgot to add, beyond the bush is a clearing with the aforementioned cave entrance. Falka can also see a small wagon with empty crates around it in the clear off to the side.
Aug 25, 2018 9:08 pm
The injured bandit on the guardpost points at Falka and warns the other two "Incoming!" and let loose a bolt then starts to climb down from the tree, trying to avoid the fire around the guard post as she is doing so.

The other two bandits aim their crossbow towards the dwarf and with determined face, pulls the trigger.

The injured bandit nimbly hops over the flame surrounding her as she catches the railing on the other side of the post and climbs down the tree via a rope ladder. Once down she moves towards the cave entrance.

The bandit on the left side of the cave entrance. as he pulls the trigger to his crossbow, the string breaks! (crit fail) in a momentary panic he drops the crossbow drawing the scimitar and moves into the cave. The remaining bandit moves to cover the other two standing between them and the cave entrance.
OOC:
Falka if 17 hits (after +2 AC due to 1/2 cover from the bush), take 7 points of damage.
Rest of you guys can go. I will let you guys aim for the bandit covering the cave entrance if you wish even though technically you don't have clear line of sight to him (I'll give him 1/2 cover bonus instead).

Rolls

Crossbow 1 (Disadvantage, dodge) - (1d20+3, 1d20+3)

1d20+3 : (16) + 3 = 19

1d20+3 : (9) + 3 = 12

Crossbow 2 (Disadvantage, dodge, add +2 AC for 1/2 cover) - (1d20+3, 1d20+3)

1d20+3 : (2) + 3 = 5

1d20+3 : (1) + 3 = 4

Crossbow 3 (Disadvantage, dodge, add +2 AC for 1/2 cover) - (1d20+3, 1d20+3)

1d20+3 : (19) + 3 = 22

1d20+3 : (14) + 3 = 17

Bandit 1, DEX save - (1d20+1)

(16) + 1 = 17

Crossbow 1 DMG - (1d8+1)

(5) + 1 = 6

Crossbow 2 DMG - (1d8+1)

(7) + 1 = 8

Crossbow 3 DMG - (1d8+1)

(6) + 1 = 7

Realising she'll need to make headway if she is to assist Falka, who is proving unexpectedly fleet, Yohna grits her teeth and mumbles a quick prayer. She feels a tug on her garb and nods. "Get to cover and give us some supporting fire. Don't strain yourself after a wound like that. Don't worry about me." She gives a reassuring smile, which hardens once more as she glances back at the bandits ahead. Raising her shield, the cleric rushes forward to assist her comrade.
OOC:
Taking a dash action to catch up to Falka, will end turn in cover if possible, if not, she'll just hope for the best.
Aug 25, 2018 9:36 pm
OOC:
There's no cover per se but the bushes will act as half cover for foe on ground level.
Aug 25, 2018 9:38 pm
OOC:
That's fine, she's just trying to get in range of people currently. She can't start doing things until she's within 60ft.
