Sea Stories: Chapter 1

Srisa and Roscoe turn the pirates into about three hundred pounds of fresh chum in a flurry of steel and sea spray. Zeph's blades whirl out, taking out another sailor's knees, ending his life with a howl of pain, sending fresh torrents of blood across the deck of the ship.

Zale lumbers towards the figurehead, fists flying out, landing two solid blows against the living wood, however they don't seem to have quite the impact Zale is used to.

From across the way, the liquid green spear sails out and slams into the chest of the figurehead, causing the material around the wound to melt away, pulling a shrieking, shattering wood howl from the mouth of the painted woman. The eyes burst into red flame, as she takes a fighting stance. Her fists swing out twice, aiming for Zale's face.

Meanwhile, you hear the call from the Grace of SHARKS IN THE WATER! ring out over the clash of combat. Sure enough, you see the telltale fins of sharks circling the ships, drawn by the blood in the water.

The continuing acid burn causes a bit more paint to melt away.

"Oof!" Zale sees stars when the wooden lady's massive fist slams into his face. Seeing that his strikes aren't very effective, he tries to sweep the leg.

Athletics to Shove her overboard if near enough to the side. Otherwise, Shove Prone. If failed, spend 1 ki for Patient Defense.

"Zale! Block with your hands not your face!" Miri yells across the deck, watching on at a slightly unconventional fist-brawl. The sympathy she has for her crewmate doesn't carry on her tone.

Seemingly satsified with its impact before, the wizard conjures up another liquid lance of acid and casts it at the figurehead.

With no other enemies about, Roscoe swings from the rigging and leaps atop the wooden giantess and stab away with his blades.

Would like to climb up unto her shoulders or something and attack from there. If I have any movement leftover I will tumble and scurry away after attacking.

Srisa sees everyone piling on the big wooden construct.

Great! With everyone's eyes on this thing, everyone will see this awesome move!

Thrusting her sword into the air, she calls out the ancient words of her people. Her chitinous armour grows, becoming more spikey and hardened. Then she rushes at the monster, swinging twice; one feinting strike and the with full force.

Bonus action: Shield of Faith brings my AC to 21 (concentration)
Action: Attack twice, once for 21 and 6 slashing damage, second for sure misses with an 8 attack roll. If the first hits, Srisa pops a lvl 2 spell slot for smite, doing 15 radiant damage.
Move: Close with the figurehead.

Another blast of acid splashes against the figurehead, burning away a little more of the paint on her body.

Meanwhile, Roscoe manages to get just high enough in the rigging to leap off, stabbing downward with his weapon, causing a glancing blow to land on her shoulder, chipping off a small bit of wood. However, her movements from the burning acid throw his aim with his dagger slightly.

Srisa manages to catch with her first strike, causing a flare of light to surge up around the figurehead, raising a howling scream from her.

Zeph lashes out with the windblades, trying to stay out of her reach as the blades whip around, however, both strikes miss.

With a howl like a sea storm, lightning begins to crackle around her body. Her eyes flare brighter, and she swings out at Srisa!

Srisa leaps back to avoid the figurehead's massive fists. The deck shatters where Srisa was, and Srisa is already running up its arm, leading with her shield, and tries to decapitate the figurehead with her sword, but finds herself aborting the attack as she dodges the other fist.

Arm outstretched, Miri draws a narrow circle with her wand, and wispy flames stream from it to form a ball of shimmering flame. With one great stroke, she releases it, sending it hurtling toward the construct.

Casting Chromatic Orb with a 3rd-level slot and hoping the wood makes this thing weak to fire!

Edit: Goddamn it, when I roll good attacks I roll crap damage, and when I roll crap attacks, I roll great damage!

A beam of blue chilling energy streaks across the ship smashing into the lady figurehead. The frost strikes her lower section icing over her legs. "Sorry I'm late to the party. Had a couple other pirates to take care of." Zeph says as two bloody blades hang from the chain at his side.

Zale would like to try something like roll a barrel to ram her legs, or swing a yardarm to slam into her or something like that. Or perhaps drop a net or sail onto her to entangle her. Would that be possible? I have the Tavern Brawler feat if that makes difference.

No matter if his blades aren't wreaking as much havoc as he'd like, Roscoe keeps stabbing away and laughing lustily as he leaps away.

Srisa makes a valiant effort to strike back at the large wooden lass, but can't seem to find any purchase, perhaps deterred slightly by the crackling lightning that seems to suffuse the figurehead's body. Miri sends a crackling ball of flame at the creature, and perhaps it sees the threat, because she pivots and lets it sail on by. Thankfully, Roscoe is firmly planted on the thing's shoulders, and he doesn't go sailing off during her dance of avoidance.

Suddenly, a shimmer of ice forms around the woman's legs, and those of you close up can see that the ice has managed to fill in some of the holes where wood used to be and has rejuvenated her somewhat!

Zale's swinging trap sails through the air, threatening to clobber her midsection. Reaching out one giant hand, she catches the boom and stares at Zale, eyes furious as her "brow" squeezes down, showing her displeasure.

Roscoe tries stabbing the woman, but can't quite find a mark as the flickering lightning distracts him just enough. The woman, now incensed, swings once for the tiny menace on her shoulder, and once more for Srisa!

From behind the group, on the ladder that led belowdecks, shouting starts up and six more pirates burst out, led by two exceptionally brawny goliaths brandishing wickedly curved axes. The pair charges, one at Srisa and one at Zeph, screaming a whooping warcry. Two of the other pirates draw their blades and take up guard positions, not wanting to engage anyone yet.

One of the pirates from earlier that resurfaced sees the mayhem and immediately dashes over and dives off the edge, his screams cut off as the sharks get to him.

The third goes to make a leap over to your ship, but trips and falls between the vessels with a splash.

Srisa rolls beneath the figurehead's furious fist and rises just in time to see the charging Goliath. She casually sidesteps the Goliath's axe and puts her boot into his ass as he passes her, putting him off balance, then follows up with two swift strikes to vital organs.

Zeph takes the heavy hit with some grace. The blow only slices his tunic some. "Hey mate, now that ani't too nice." He spins 360° kicking up a mass of wind that swirls around him. Thrusting his arms forward he hurls the wind straight at the new adversary. "Hang on now." He yells with a chuckle.

Casting Gust of Wind aiming at the axe guy that hit me. DC14 at the start of anyone's turn with the 60ft long 10ft wide line or pushed back 15 feet. Also costs 2 feet for every 1 to .over closer to me within line.

Zale clucks his tongue as the figurehead foils his swinging yardarm tactic. Next, he heaves a heavy barrel and sends it rolling towards her legs, hoping to knock her overboard or at least off her feet.
