We found the keys so... ;)

I posted that Fernal managed to pick the lock. Right after, Korgazhar found a set of keys on one of the guards. As for moving on to another one, that’s up to you.

Hahahaha

Korgazhar then looked at Julian. "Do you have something that will illuminate?" He looked for a wall torch or some lit source, to see if the cell's darkness could be brightened. If not then we just have to barge in, or simply attempt to talk."

Just leave cell open. Cause giant trouble later. She gives her thoughts.

Julian removed one of the spears from Ligeia's saddle bags. Using the blunt end of the spear, he prodded the darkness. First making certain the spear was not damaged when it was thrust into and removed from the void, and then prodding the ground within the darkened area to test both for solid ground and if any noise could be heard from within the darkened area.

Korgazhar watched Julian as he did so, and made ready to open the next few cells one by one to do the same. One cell at a time.

The spear remains unharmed, but you notice that not only is the area shrouded in magical darkness, but no noise comes from the tapping of the spear on the floor inside of the darkness.

"Harumph. Magical darkness and silence too. Seems like a lot of precaution for jail cells. Important prisoners? Well wizard, any other solutions?"
May 9, 2019 3:37 pm
"Only one." Using the spear as a blind man might use a long cane to navigate, he slowly walks into the darkness, being sure to test the ground thoroughly as he walks.

Rolls

Int(Investigation)+(guidance) - (1d20+9, 1d4)

1d20+9 : (8) + 9 = 17

1d4 : (4) = 4

Moving slowly through the cell, you find nothing at first. However, at the back of the cell, in the right corner, you find a figure chained to the floor. The shape is human, bound and chained to the floor with not much room to move. The smell of sweat, urine and 'other' things is prevalent here.

Julian leaned in closer to the figure, placing a gentle hand upon what he imagined was their shoulder. He could not communicate with them, this he knew, but he hoped by moving slowly he might refrain from unnecessarily frightening the captured individual. He felt around in the darkness to confirm the existence of a locking mechanism on the chains before returning to the others and extending his hand as though to receive an object. "The keys."

Korgazhar approved of Julian's ingenuity as he handed the keys over. In his mind it made up for the stupidity of bringing the horse.

Plunging back into the darkness, Julian made his way to where he'd last located the prisoner. Approaching slowly, he again placed one of his hands upon the prisoner's shoulder, as though to say "It's alright, I'm here to rescue you". He fiddled with the lock blindly, trying each of the five keys until one worked.
OOC:
Presuming the keys actually work
Presuming they may be injured or otherwise weakened from their imprisonment, Julian helped the prisoner to their feet. Throwing one of their arms over his shoulder, he helped them to walk out of the cell, from the darkness into the light.

It takes a few minutes, but you realize that none of the keys work on the lock. In fact, you can find no keyhole on the clasp. Your investigation and intuition tell you that their is probably some form of arcane lock holding this prisoner. You will need to find a way to break the chains, or dispel the darkness, or somehow dispel the lock.

He probably shouldn't, but Ælfric went to the darkened cell Julian was in and said, "Asfaroth."
