Steading of the Hill Giant Chief

Korgazhar
Your feral instincts kick in as the first giant bellows for his companions to come to his aid. His cries are short-lived, however, as your deadly blows manage to rip at his throat. Gurgling and coughiong blood, the brute staggers backward toward the west hall, but does not fall. He clasps his hand over his throat and waves the others to finish you.
OOC:
56 damage to Giant #1. Ambrosia, Dwendylin and Fernal are up!
Sep 19, 2019 6:13 pm
Hearing the familiar song of steel clashing, Ambrosia rattles his halo and takes off, eager to put on a real performance with his instrument.
OOC:
Full Movement and Dash towards the melee.
Sep 19, 2019 6:32 pm
Dwendylin follows the sound of the combat, moving as quickly as she can to help Korgazhar.
OOC:
Using full movement and a dash action towards the corridor where Korg is.

Ambroais, Dwendylin
Grabbing your gear, you immediately head for the sounds of combat coming back from the main tunnel. The unmistakable sound of Korgazhar echoes down the hall as Fernal takes the lead, passing by even Aelfric, who had been ahead of you all.

Fernal
As if a mystical wind carries you, you move with incredible speed to get back to Korgazhar. As you arrive, you find giants and ogres have arrived as reinforcements. One of the giants look severely wounded. As you arrive, the ogres arrive to do battle. One attacks Korgazhar, while the others take aim at you! Trying to block the incoming blow, you slip slightly as you come to a stop, allowing the ogre's powerful blow to slam into your shoulder. Thrown sideways into the wood trusses supporting the tunnel, you grunt with pain at the blow.

Korgazhar
The giant you sliced steps backward, giving you a free attack, the consequence of which you leave yourself slightly exposed to the arriving ogre. With a snarl, if hefts its massive club and slams into you, crushing your armored plating on your arm. The blow sends a shock of pain through you, though you relish the pain as you retaliate. The newly arrived giant cannot quite get to you, and you easily avoid his clumsy attack.
OOC:
Giant 1 moves out of the way to allow Giant 2 into the fray. Korg gets an AOO on Giant 1. 6 Bludgeoning damage to Korg, 13 bludgeoning to Fernal. Aelfric is up! Julian can act now, as he has his action held. I am going to rule that Lenore and Julian can Move with Ligea, but can act on their own when an action is desired... if that makes sense.

Rolls

Hill Giant 2 Attack on Korg - (1d20+8)

(9) + 8 = 17

Hill Giant 2 Damage to Korg - (3d8)

(865) = 19

Ogre 1 Attack on Korg - (1d20+6)

(19) + 6 = 25

Ogre 1 Damage to Korg - (2d8)

(42) = 6

Ogre 2 Attack on Fernal - (1d20+6)

(15) + 6 = 21

Ogre 2 Damage to Fernal - (2d8)

(67) = 13

Fernal will use her reaction to the Ogre 2 attack to do uncanny dodge to reduce the damage to 6.

OOC:
Is there a reason I didn't move on the map?
Sep 24, 2019 12:54 am
Korgazhar did not see the ogres approach, and could not avoid the club. His eyes were still on the stumbling giant though, so he swiftly stabbed at its belly as it backed away.
OOC:
6 damage marked. Taking the AOO on Giant #1. Rerolling the 1 damage because of GWF. (Maybe I should've have clicked Reroll Aces)

Rolls

Glaive AOO (attack and damage, still with adv) - (1d20+6, 1d20+6, 1d10+17)

1d20+6 : (19) + 6 = 25

1d20+6 : (2) + 6 = 8

1d10+17 : (1) + 17 = 18

Damage reroll (GWF) - (1d10, RA)

(107) = 17

Sep 24, 2019 3:48 am
OOC:
Don't quote me on this, but doesn't reroll aces continue to reroll if you get another 1, whereas GWM rerolls only once (but also rerolls 2s or something)?
Sep 24, 2019 4:28 am
Ælfric rushed for where the corridors joined, looked around the corner to choose a target, and settled on the giants as the greater threat.

"The time for arrows is over," he thought.

Ælfric pulled a glowing star from his cloak of night, a star which turned into seven bursts of force as he threw it at the badly injured giant and its closest companion! Magic released, he ducked back to safety.
OOC:
Running 4 squares forward, attacking, running 3 squares back. Using one of the six stars on my Robe of Stars to cast Magic Missile at 5th level and create seven force missiles. The primary target will be Giant 1. If it dies, please direct the rest of the missiles at Giant 2.

Rolls

Magic Missile force damage [5th level/7 missiles] - (7d4+7)

(2134334) + 7 = 27

Yep, I couldn't remember the functionality of RA on GP. Just found out. :/

OOC:
Nope. Other than I saved the map before moving you. Consider yourself near the head of the side tunnel, as your move would go along with Ligea's speed.

Aelfric
As you rush forward, the stars fall into your hand, becoming magical missiles that streak down the corridor. As they blast into the back of the giant there, you watch Korgazhar cleave down the brute at the same time. The life rushing out of him in the form of spurting blood and gore, the giant falls away, allowing your last missiles to strike the second giant who has just arrived.
OOC:
17 + 6 damage takes care of the first giant, while the remaining 21 force damage catch the second giant squarely in the jaw. Julian, Korgazhar, Dwendylin, Ambrosia, Fernal, Lenore, then Ligeia are up! Post in any order, I will resolve it after.
Sep 25, 2019 12:39 am
I thought Fernal's round was done with her movement and her reaction. Was the reaction on a new round with Fernal behind on INIT?
Sep 25, 2019 12:49 am
OOC:
I'll go in case Polaris is busy.
Korgazhar chuckled as the first giant went down. He was about to swing at the second giant, but the ogre kept getting in the way, so he decided to let the pesky humanoid bear the brunt of his attacks instead.
OOC:
Edit: Two crits! If the ogre dies, I get to attack the next target as a bonus action with a regular attack than using a PAM attack. Adding an extra glaive damage roll then, to direct to the second giant if so.

Rolls

Glaive Attack & Extra Attack & Bonus PAM attack (GWM) - (1d20+6, 1d20+6, 1d20+6)

1d20+6 : (20) + 6 = 26

1d20+6 : (18) + 6 = 24

1d20+6 : (20) + 6 = 26

Glaive Damage (attack & extra attack & PAM attack) - (1d10+17, 1d10+17, 1d4+7)

1d10+17 : (6) + 17 = 23

1d10+17 : (3) + 17 = 20

1d4+7 : (3) + 7 = 10

Glaive damage roll (to replace PAM) - (1d10+17)

(5) + 17 = 22

OOC:
You posted your turn early last time, so I inserted your action at the appropriate time. Yes, your turn ended then, but everyone else went, so we came to the top of the order with Aelfric. Now we are on a new round, and you are all in a group together. I posted the actual order, but you can all post and I will sort it out after. You CAN wait to see what everyone else does, if you like. I know some people prefer to do. This place can be combat-heavy, obviously, and I am hoping to get through it.

I will take your advice and wait for the water to clear before I dive in. Let me know when swimming is good.

Seeing the giants grouped together conveniently, Julian releases yet another swirling mass of colors and lights, threatening to enthrall his foes so long as they remain undamaged.
OOC:
Hypnotic pattern, hitting all the visible foes except maybe ogre no. 2. Wisdom Save DC 17 or Incapacitated

Dwendylin continues to dash until she reaches the corridor and stands ready just 10 feet behind Fernal. She then makes a short invocation in the celestial tongue while grasping her holy symbol and a shimmering, translucent sphere of golden energy engulfs Korgazhar then fades away. "Touch not the light's anointed!" She declares after casting the spell of protection on the cornered half-orc.
OOC:
Moving and dashing to get to the corridor, then using a bonus action to cast Shield of Faith on Korgazhar.

Can I move 30 ft towards the fight and then take my action after seeing if Julian's Hypnotic Pattern works? Would completely change what I'd do if it does.

OOC:
Apologies. I am just leaving work and didn't have my normal time to get to my games today. I'll up the map in the AM and post an update.
Ambrosia
OOC:
Yes, your turn comes after Julian, so you can wait his reaction.
