"Stun 'em" Heyop barked. His free hand moved to his holster his pistol out and aiming at the biggest of the group the Mother, he'd suspect she was the Alpha of the group.

Using Quick Draw to Pull and Quick Strike due to the situation it's an available option, no idea how we set guns to stun but that's what I'll go with.

Urik pulls his blaster and fires at whichever is nearer to him; the largest wolf or the nearest group.

OOC: Assuming two purple for medium range. Also assuming, as I neglected to message the GM, that Urik is wielding a light blaster pistol he took off one of the mercenaries. Feel free to give me a specific weapon if you like, I can look up damage, crit range, etc.


RESULT: 2 success, 2 advantage

In her taking position earlier, Kaveri noted the giant stalactite dangling from the ceiling, and now she sees that it hangs above the wolf mother. She adjusts her aim upward and fires at the base of the huge stone formation, hoping to send it crashing down onto the ice wolf mother.

(OoC note: unless the difficulty needs adjustment, that's 12 points of damage to the stalactite)

Heyop’s hand moves quickly and his blaster pistol comes out of his holster in a smooth action. Thumbing the stun setting the blaster fires a blue smoke-ring of stun energy into the matron. Csillag adds her blaster to the mix, hitting the matron again with the odd blue-ring of stun energy. While both shots land and cause the large wolf to flinch, she remains standing -- and unhappy.

Urik fires a blaster bolt into one of the nearby icewolves - opting to take out something close, rather than something big. The bolt lands and hits the wolf, but it remains standing -- a smoking hole in its shoulder testament to the shot.

Kaveri’s shot weakens the roof and brings down a large mass of rock atop the large icewolf. Though she twists and yelps to get out of the way, the blasts from Heyop and Csillag must of slowed her down -- and she is momentarily obscured by falling rock and dust, scattering the smaller icewolves. As the dust clears, the matron has clearly taken a pummelling. Her mouth hangs open and she pants with obvious effort given the strain of being hit by blasters on stun and the bludgeoning of the roof. Her fur also shows areas of blood where the rock dug in and wounded her.

OOC:

* Urik has two advantage to spend.
* Kaveri has two advantage to spend.
* All icewolf minions have a setback die due to scattering on their next action.

Enemy status: all at medium range.

Now able to act, the wolves charge in -- as one -- to the party. Each of the smaller icewolves squares off against one of the party and stream in, snarling and unhappy. The matron heads in as well -- her kills will not be denied and she makes for Heyop -- the first person to have shot her.

OOC: Closing from medium to engaged, as they all do, takes two maneuvers and they do not act further.

Dagger follows through with Heyop's command and shoots the largest wolf with his blaster set to stun. Despite having a slavering icewolf in his face, he's able to get the shot off and a blue ring of stun energy slams into the matron who finally collapses under the strain of the concentrated attacks. That said, Dagger's had to turn his back slightly to the wolf interested in him, and exposes an opportunity for that wolf to land a hit.

OOC: Dagger's assailant will gain 1 boost die to shooting out of engaged combat and 1 boost die due to the threat generated.


Enemy status: all at engaged/short range.

Matron: Passed out.

As the wolf attacking Urik charges within melee range, Urik drops his blaster and whips out the Vibro-Sword he took from his old "master" and slashes at the wolf.

"Urik, I thought we already went through this!" Heyop almost barked in a stern voice while dropping his own blaster. His hand unclipping the Trucheon on his belt focusing on the task at hand though as he stared down his attacker as it closed the distance [Quickdraw Ability]. As the smaller but still sizeable beast came at him his jaw set and his arms relaxed as he timed it's movement [Aim Manuever?] the tip lower to the ground lashed upwards trying to bite into the snout of the wolf.

(OoC: Unsure you can or can't 'Aim' in melee, does say you can though. Void the Blue die if it doesn't apply then, your call)

Edit:
Since it hit Trucheon has Disorient 2 (On a hit +1SB die to all Skill checks = to Ranks in Disorient) So +2 Set Back Die to my attacker (Coruscant) and they take 5 damage.

For the 2 Adv spending as a Boost Die to next attacker on our side.

Dagger, who had been maintaining a silence as he fought visions dancing through his head finally barks back at Heyop, maybe a little too loudly, We are running out of options here, Heyop! We are doing our best!, he regrets how the outburst sounded, but not the content.

Just stay alive, Urik, Dagger says as he tries to avoid being bit in the flank by wolves.

Kaveri nods, satisfied that the matron is down, then backpedals to get out of reach of the jaws of the ice wolf snapping at her (maneuver to back out of engaged range) and fires her heavy blaster at the beast (action).

(Note: if this remains a hit, it is 12 points of damage - 9+2 successes+1 triumph-counting-as-success. Not sure what effect the triumph should have; perhaps the hold of the Dark Side on the conscious wolves is weakened?)

OOC: Dagger - do you want to take an action, or just assume a guarded stance (maneuver)? The guarded stance will give you defense + 1, and give you a setback die on combat checks 'til the end of your next turn.

Heyop - I agree Aim is ambiguous, but 'lining up a hit' seems like it could apply to melee combat, so it's permitted.

Urik's blaster clatters to the floor as he draws Malefax's sword and swings it at the icewolf bearing down on him. The darkness of the weapon clouds his judgment and timing and prevents him from landing a hit. As with Heyop, the weapon bears down on the wielder with negative emotions that seem to emanate from it -- and the icewolves nearby snarl in increased vigor. The strain of resisting the pull of the dark side causes 2 strain to Urik.

Heyop's blaster joins Urik's on the ground as the truncheon sweeps out, oscillating with energy. It throbs with a 'woo woo woo woo' sound as Heyop swings it into the beast confronting him and connects, causing the icewolf to step back and snap at the truncheon.

Kaveri successfully steps back out of range and fires her blaster rifle into the maw of the slavering beast before her. It's a dead-eye shot, for sure, and the beast doesn't stand a chance, falling to the floor, dead with smoke curling up from its mouth.

OOC: Urik the setback die is an interesting twist, but not required since there's already a mechanic that penalizes the use of the weapon. Basically it's 3 strain - Force dice you command (which right now is '1') until such time as the weapon is cleansed or something...

Kaveri - good question on the triumph - will discuss more in the OOC thread for now.

OOC: Sorry, thought my first action was already done with the first stun blaster you mentioned Falryx, I'll draw my knife and try to lunge for the wolf Urik is engaged with.

Dagger, seeing the large den mother drop worries more about the lives of the group. Seeing Urik miss with the sword he drops his blaster and lunges at the wolf in front of Urik, drawing his vibroknife and lashing out.

OOC: If it's cool I'll take Remnant's boost if no one else has...

GM: Adding difficulty dice. Melee is always 2 difficulty. Net result, 1 Failure, 1 advantage.

Kaveri feels the anguish and anger of the wolves, sensing the disturbance in the Force. She draws upon her calm center, and reaches out as she fires the heavy blaster rifle, sending out that sense of calm and connection with the Light Side to all those around her: allies, ice wolves. Fear and anger diminishes in the exposure to the Light Side.

(OoC: I'm not sure what effect this would have in terms of game mechanics. They lose interest in fighting and withdraw? They get setback dice on any attack actions next round? The Dark Side is expelled, but we're still left with ice wolves, normal and without the influence of the Dark Side, but ravenous nonetheless?)

Everyone senses a little of the light side of the Force invading the space -- almost brightening it somewhat. The crystrals around you flash slightly and you feel emboldened and encouraged to seek the calm and peace of the Force to overcome the assault that faces you.

Dagger lets his own blaster fall to the floor with a bit of a clunk to lunge at the one assaulting Urik with his vibroblade. As with Urik, however, his slash does not find the target.

The icewolves attack, defending the matron from further harm. Csillag's opponent is already fairly wounded from Urik's blaster bolt and attacks cautiously, adopting a guarded stance and taking attacks of opportunity against her. With a well-timed lunge, the beast manages to grab ahold of Csillag's blaster and tear it from her hands with a growl.

Dagger's opponent attacks viciously -- but with more thunder than lightning -- and Dagger escapes unscathed. Perhaps the Force is with this reckless young man. However in order to dodge the snapping teeth, Dagger's had to contort himself uncomfortably and is at a disadvantage for his next action.

Heyop's wolf is slightly disoriented by Heyop's truncheon, which Heyop uses to good effect to keep the teeth of the beast well away from his flesh. The beast is eager to land a hit and overextends itself, exposing it to a well-placed hit from Heyop if only he can take advantage of it.

Lastly, Urik's icewolf weaves around a vibroknife-wielding Dagger and the sword of Malefax to land a viscious rake with its claws and a nasty bite on the thigh on the young man.


OOC:

* Dagger takes 1 strain for the extra maneuver (1 maneuver to draw the weapon, 1 to engage with the other wolf - 1 strain due to the advantage you rolled.
* Dagger has a setback die for his next action.
* Heyop receives a boost die for his next action.
* Urik takes 4 wounds from his assailant.

Kriff!, Dagger exclaims as he sees the wolf he was trying to stop get a good slash in against Urik, but he has his own attacker to face now. Trying to use his close-range to his advantage he lashes out with his blade again.
