The Warden observes Urik and shakes her head, "We do not have record of a weapon like that in the archives we have access to. It's quite possible the third holocron will reveal something that could help with the sword -- but it looks like a heavy burden -- and difficult to manage and conceal."

She pauses, turning to Kaveri and apparently accessing some further records in the combined memory of the two holocrons. "As to finding the third holocron -- we are still identifying where it may be, and it will take some time for us. We do not know whether a lightsaber will specifically aid you in its retrieval. My belief, naturally, is that a lightsaber is a critical tool for a jedi. So I believe it will help you in all that you do."

"A lightsaber crystal is a special component of a lightsaber. It is imbued with the Force by the person who wields it and so takes on a distinctive hue -- usually green or blue in our memory. They will be crystals that interact with you via the Force and which react to the Force when applied. Beyond that, they're crystals like many others -- with different physical properties depending on the kind of crystal."

She puts up a hand, "One moment." The Curator nods to her and winks out. "If you will move to the holoprojector chamber, we can display information we have on crystal-bearing worlds known to us up to 30 years ago."

Kaveri moves to the holoprojector chamber with all alacrity.

Seeing you all meander towards the holoprojector, Hethan tags along, curious what's afoot. "What's afoot?"
Jan 21, 2016 4:18 pm
"Wouldn't it be better to start the search at areas in the local area and fan out from there prioritizing friendly zones versus hot combat environments? Quality and likelihood of finding crystals the next leading parameters." Heyop interjected as he followed, "And do you two know what year it currently is?" he added a bit worried as Romund slide in to see what the buzz was about.

"We've been chastised originally for not having or losing our lightsabers... we're currently looking on where to find crystals to forge our own it seems Romund. I'm just hoping it's someplace 'relatively safe'." he explained looking to the others, Dagger seemed to have fallen quiet, a mixture of his wound and medications at least had him smiling a bit, Heyop didn't know if that meant he was space out or excited about the prospect of making a light saber. It seemed like a good idea but Heyop did not have faith in his abilities to that degree with electronics... hopefully they would get some guidance.

"Lightsaber crystals?! How exciting!" She taps a few times on her pad, humming to herself. "Yes, it's as I thought. Most places that were known to be where crystals appropriate for lightsabers have either been quietly removed from our collective knowledge -- like a place called Ilum -- or have very heavy Imperial presence."

With a bit more tapping and pursing of lips she adds, "It appears the Emporer likes to keep the crystals for himself."
Jan 21, 2016 5:43 pm
Once gathered around the holoprojector, the Curator and Warden appear again. "We know what year it is, because we finally asked. We still have some small ways to interact with the data networks on this planet -- and it's possible for us to glean certain information passively without intruding or being detected."

The holoprojector flickers to life -- the result of one of the many repairs done by you as you settled into the Dawn Temple as a more permanent abode. It's not exactly the best quality signal, but it works. A list of planets show up above it with a galactic map pinpointing the locations.

Hethan is able to see these -- though she cannot hear the gatekeepers still -- and says, "Oh! Excellent. These records are wonder and match nicely with my data too." She points, "See? There's Ilum on the list. Is it on the map?"

Looking at it, none of you are able to spot Ilum highlighted on the galactic map, however.
Jan 21, 2016 5:46 pm
"That's just good tactics, if the enemies supply for munitions breaks they can't fight. If obfuscating the locations of crystals stops would be covert activities you control the enemies supply. Burning out the enemies resources quickly and dominating all routes for necessary resupplies is the quickest way to end a war... it's still not filled with violence but you minimize casualties for your own forces." Heyop stated with a shrug in response. He wondered if there were other would be padawans in this situations in the galaxy making these kind of decisions or going back to working at say their uncle's shop as a mechanic.

falryx says:
With a bit more tapping and pursing of lips she adds, "It appears the Emporer likes to keep the crystals for himself."
"Excuse me Hethan, but what would a politico like the Emperor want with lightsaber crystals? Are there Jedi who work for him?"

You've all found Urik to be woefully uninformed about politics and the Empire in general. His parents kept him ignorant of all that, and Malefax exposed him to little beyond his abusive "training". The subjects of the Emperor and Darth Vader have not really come up explicitly.

OOC: I don't know how much your characters would know about the Sith and the Empire's connection with the Dark Side. I'm positing here that the subject has not come up with Urik in a way that makes the matter clear.
Jan 21, 2016 6:09 pm
"Honestly, Urik, I'm not sure."

"But, the Empire has gone through great lengths to both diminish the galaxy's understanding of the Force and to sully the reputation of the Jedi. They also seem to be very focused on stamping out any Force users once they learn of them. So I suspect it makes sense to restrict access to a key component of a lightsaber -- if only to continue to keep the galaxy ignorant."
Jan 21, 2016 7:28 pm
"So this is a current map, based on what you could correlate with the data from the planetary network. So: where do you suggest we begin?"

This is not the sort of hunt Kaveri usually conducts, but still she feels a little twinge of excitement at the prospect.

Csillag leans in to take a closer look at the list to see if she is familiar with any of the planets.

The holoprojector displays a list of the following worlds for known sites:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/forceanddestiny/CrystalMap-Small.jpg

Adega
Barab I
Dantooine
Ilum
Lorrd
M'haeli
Phemis

All of them, but Ilum have their location lit up.

The Spadja sector -- the location of Spintir and the Dawn Temple is colored red on the map for convenience.

Adega is located at, what appears to be the hind-end of space in the Moddell sector. There are several systems labelled, but none of them ring a bell. Adega, Annaj, Endor, Murk, Vasha, Zorbia. An orange ring glows around the sector -- which at this level of zoom feels like a tight constellation of backwater systems.

Barab I, of the Barab system is in the Albanin sector in the Outer Rim territories. It is on the other side of Hutt-controlled space from the Spadja sector and a yellow circle delineates it in on the projector.

Dantooine is in the Raioballo sector to the Galactic West of you. A light blue ring circles its location.

Lorrd, located in the Kanz sector is to the Galactic West as well -- a bit closer than Dantooine. A red circle highlights its location on the map.

M'haeli is in the Majoor sector, not far from the well-known world of Malastare along the Hydrian Way -- a major hyperspace route. Its location is denoted by a white circle on the holoprojector.

Lastly, Phemis is in the Corellia sector -- a pretty well known part of space to the average galactic citizen. Its location is highlighted by a pink circle on the holoprojector.

The Curator speaks up, "We don't have much of a suggestion on where you could possibly begin. As far as we know, each of these locations bears crystals. Decades ago, the Jedi Order got their crystals -- khyber crystals -- from Ilum. Centuries before that, the Order was granted exclusive rights to mining on Phemis for rubat crystals. Before that, crystals were found where they may be, though the Adegan crystals were the most popular for quite some time." He pauses and adds, "We can tell you something about each of these places -- but rather than rattling off some facts, perhaps you'd like some questions answered about someplace in particular? Or would you prefer a summary such as we have?
Jan 22, 2016 7:09 am
Hethan looks at the map and the worlds. "Hrm." She quirks her mouth and begins to scroll through something on her pad. "Well, the good news is that some of these places are in the middle of no where. But the bad news is, that they're in the middle of no where, so knowing about the Imperial presence will be hard."

"I do have something here -- a rumor I caught hold of, that I casually dismissed. It's just a quick note from a colleague of mine -- an Ashur Sungazer. He's a scholar on Eriadu and uses his access there to gently sift through information that may link to the Jedi and the Force. It's quite dangerous really -- as the Imperials are thick on the ground there. Anyway, Ashur seemed to suggest that there's been a recent discovery of rubat crystals on Phemis that has not been fully secured by the Empire -- some sort of missive he picked up while skimming comms traffic. There has been a ban on rubat crystal mining for decades -- long before the Empire came to pass... I wonder why?"

Hethan shrugs, "But really -- any of these might do. I know for a fact the Imperials are present on Phemis -- so sneaking in there won't be trivial, but at least there's something of a lead suggesting there's something there. These other locations may be dead ends or have other dangers -- or an Imperial garrison."
Jan 22, 2016 10:21 am
"Romund what can you tell us of the location on Lorrd? I think that's our closest place to scout under the radar. Phemis seems a definite second but does have a chance to expose us and coming back here immediately would be in poor judgement...What do you all think?" Heyop stated looking to the rest.
Jan 22, 2016 3:37 pm
"That seems reasonable. I also wonder what the condition of the hyperlanes are to these locations. I'm not a pilot, but I know that they can seriously affect travel time."

OOC: May Urik make a Knowledge: Outer Rim roll to see what he knows about the more out of the way systems? He's ignorant of official Imperial politics and worlds, but he comes from an outer rim colony. What would the difficulty be?
Jan 22, 2016 4:09 pm
OoC: I guess it depends on what you're looking for, average is two purple, hard is three. Hard I guess would be if you're trying to remember the logo for that regional snacky cake product for that one planet that had a new story about a mix up at the factory where they were accidentally mixing ingredients wrong causing hallucinogenic effects. If it's to remember about pertaining to crystals like this not a lot of people would be in the know so probably above average to remember the story/rumor no?

OOC: Not about the crystals. Urik has never heard of these crystals. I'm looking for a knowledge check on the status of the worlds; which is occupied, colonized, natural disasters, Imperial presence/blockade, harsh environments, etc. Difficulty Falryx?

Edit: As you set this difficulty, keep in mind that Urik has been out of circulation for a few years now. Any information he knows will be around 5 years old at this point, and would have been mostly overheard adult conversation/rumors. I'm mostly looking for an excuse to vote one way or another as to destination. Urik knows more about a galaxy far far away than Friar Tuk does.

(OoC: I'd just go with Average FT... just because it might be old intel doesn't mean it wasn't accurate... I mean the Holocron Duo's data is probably more vast than what we all know including Romund on the planet... but it's not up to date. If we want newer stuff I figure we could research... Urik was part of an explorer family before the abduction/confinement wasn't he probably has something to put insight into we're not looking at?)

OOC:
Yes -- you can make a Knowledge (Outer Rim) roll. If you're looking for basic information about the world, that'll be 'average'. For political stuff, it's probably okay to keep that average. I don't have the CRB here -- so go with that and I'll add more dice if need be once I'm home and can reference it.
