CESN, you're up. How does Nekurr want to follow through with the blessing?
Sep 5, 2019 8:06 pm
OOC:
sorry. Not much time for big posts :(
Can I cast Druidic-like spells? I was looking to bless the statue with a small effect, maybe an aura of luck or something, or some sort of glowing oracle-like premonitions (so vague that it is always right). Or maybe a mix of that since fortuna is goddess of luck and trickery! Maybe use the advantage along these lines?

Not sure how much can be done here
"Well, that is a very dark curse, I wouldn’t say I can lift it... completely... . Nekurr grans the status and handles it to them. "But it is wise to have Fortuna watching over you in these times of hardship he says, giving then the statue.

OK, so the Terrinoth book says that enchanting magic items is actually supposed to be very hard to do. It also says that only superior items (items with the Superior quality, which signifies masterful craftsmanship) are able to be enchanted in the first place.

With that in mind, I'm going to offer two options. Option 1 (short term blessing): Flip a Story Point to indicate that the Fortuna statue is of Superior quality. You can cast Augment on it so that anyone who touches it gets the effects of the Augment spell. The enchantment will wear off after this scene, but the advantage is that by using the statue, all of them can get the benefit of the Augment spell just by touching the statue. (In this case, just roll an additional Purple to add to your roll above.)

Option 2 (permanent blessing): Also flip a Story Point to say the statue is Superior. Then raise the difficulty to Formidable (PPPPP). If the spell succeeds, the statue can bestow an Augment spell on one person who touches it per day; the spell lasts for one "task." (In this case, roll 3 additional P to add to your roll above.)

As Nera pats Hildar on the shoulder he starts slightly as if surprised before responding "Um...yes, well we can certainly look into things further"

So the Augment roll stands: 4 success, 1 advantage. You didn't specify a use for the advantage, so I'll have Benji "believe" the enchantment to convince the others.
Benji takes the proffered statue and places both hands on it. His mother and uncle look on, seemingly interested, but trying not to be too obvious about it. The boy closes his eyes a moment, then opens them back up with a start. "Did you hear that? I... I can hear the dogs all the way at the back of the yard!"

"Go back there!" his mother, Lyssie, says. "Maybe you can find some tracks we've missed..." The boy obeys, leaving the two elder Thistlerocks.

Gallen leans forward on the bannister. "Seems your goddess came through, Catfolk. Now you said you had some questions for me?"

"To be honest I'm not really a social person... I'll go help the boy look for tracks or hoof prints or whatever we can find. Nera? Do you know how to track things down in the wild?" Tronus states rubbing the back of his neck opting to help the boy with actions versus probe out some questions.
Sep 6, 2019 4:54 pm
Nera opens her mouth to respond, but has to pause for a moment to seriously think about her answer. "It has been...some time since I've been away from civilization. But I can still track, yes."
Sep 6, 2019 5:35 pm
Lyssie Thistlerock looks at both of you askance, then to Gallen. "If you want to head back to the dog runs, I'll go with you. I probably shouldn't leave Benji alone back there anyway."

Gallen shrugs. "Suit yourselves." He then glances at Barvek and Nekurr. "But I thought you all had some questions for me about Old Man Dribbage?"

not sure if this is valid, but I suggested an infusion of trickery to the spell from the advantage ;) but it worked even better :)
"As I said, Fortuna smiles on those who endure" Nekurr smiles reassuringly. "We do have some questions. We are trying to figure out what happened with Mr Dribagge and we were told you have noticed he was missing..." the half-catfolk pauses expecting Gallen to continue

OOC:
Ah, sorry, CESN! I overlooked your suggested advantage spend. Glad you're OK with this turn of events.
Gallen gives Nekurr an appreciative look. "Been doing your homework on me! Yeah, I used to run into the old man sometimes. On the road into town, when I was out running dogs, that sorta thing. But then he just up and disappeared. After a few weeks without seeing him, I thought his family should know." He pauses a moment as if prepared to speak and then finally does. "Olarie ask you to find him?"
Sep 7, 2019 6:43 am
Barvek cocks his head a bit at that. "Mr. Thistlerock, I fail to see how that question is pertinent to our investigation. This is a professional matter after all." He clears his throat. "We were also told that there had been a burglary at the Dribbage property a couple nights ago. Did you recall seeing anything?"
Sep 7, 2019 5:39 pm
"'Keep it professional,'" the man repeats, face glum. "Sounds like Olarie talking, all right." He straightens up and continues: "I didn't see anything suspicious the night of the break in. But you're damn right I heard about it. That woman shouldn't be living in that huge place all alone. Olarie says everything's fine, but with her uncle missing, and bandits about..."
OOC:
I reckon some of you at least think he's involved in the break in, so remember you can always try a Vigilance check to get a sense of whether an NPC is telling the truth or not. (Remember, I won't roll Deception against you in most cases, as it gives the game away.) Difficulty with this NPC is RPP.

Hildar simply studies Galen whilst he talks looking as though he's trying to work out a puzzle.

"So you’re saying Mister Dribagge just vanished... He didn’t mention anything? Also, have you seen anything strange around the area. It seems to me like the dogs may be picking on something, and we heard rumours of the dead living again. Probably some town non-sense, but it wouldn’t be unheard of..." Nekurr then looks at barvek and hildar "mister Glenn is right, we should check with miss Dribagge and make sure she is safe" he adds to reinforce the idea that we are not working for her...
OOC:
not sure if the advantage will still be there (or the check used at all) but could he get distracted and comment something strange dog behaviour a bit more (maybe some interesting detail he is holding off) ?

Using the threats to impact the (group) Deception check. (Let's reroll this.) ArMedBeta, CESN, or mcneils5 -- any of you can roll the check. Since Tronus and Nera are headed back to the dog runs, their abilities don't add to the roll. Your combined check will be GGGBB + PPPPKKKK. (He's blessed from the statue!)

Lyssie leads Nera and Tronus back behind the cottage. You can't see much at first thanks to a tall, wooden fence. But Lyssie opens the gate, revealing a large, muddy yard with dozens of dogs in it. The animals appear to be a mix of different body types and coat colorations, but you recognize them as different types hunters might use, some to flush game, others to chase it down, others to retrieve it. Once inside the run, Lyssie closes the gate, and a few of the friendlier hounds approach with wagging tails. Other canines keep back, and a few bark at the intruders.

"Just ignore them and they'll leave you alone. We keep the dangerous dogs in pens farther back."
She starts down toward the other end of the yard, where the run seems to continue into a thickly wooded area. "That's probably where Benji is," she says, making sure you're coming along.

Wow! So you've convinced him you're not working for Olarie Dribbage.
Gallen Thistlerock's eyes widen. "Oh, so you're not working for Olarie? Strange. You must be working for St. Durvin's then?" He relaxes a bit, now apparently more comfortable talking bout these matters with his would-be paramour out of the equation. "There have always been rumors of strange things going on in the Dribbage cemetery," he scoffs. "I've never seen anything weird. The dogs haven't ever picked up on anything. But the old coot did like to spend time there. Always struck me as odd. He'd sit around the tombstones just reading his books. But like I said, none of us has seen him for weeks now."

Tronus looks around and follows.
