[IC] Graveyard Shift: Session 1

After his prayer, Nekurr is pleased to hear a moan escape Lyssie's lips. Glancing at her wounds, he realizes that the bite marks seem mostly confined to her limbs rather than her vitals. Things weren't as bad as they seemed at first! Even better, the dogs don't seem to realize she's still alive. However, Nekurr is concerned to see that all of the dogs in the clearing now seem to be fixated on him...
OOC:
Lyssie is now stabilized, basically at full Wound Threshold, but not incapacitated. Triumph means the dogs don't notice she's been revived (scaring them away would be a bit too much, I think.) 3 Threat = the dogs have a new target. Nekurr!
[ +- ] Initiative Order
OOC:
Nera and Tronus are up.

Rolls

Critical Hit on Lyssie - (1d100+10)

(85) + 10 = 95

Sep 18, 2019 3:37 pm
Tornus moves into the skirmish and toward the downed woman leading into the dogs with the business end of his sword.
OOC:
6+3 Damage to closest minion dog group to me after I move.

Rolls

Mellee Attack (Dog Dog)

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 3 Threat

Total: 3 Success, 1 Threat

Sep 18, 2019 4:11 pm
The beasts' newfound fixation on Nekurr gives Tronus an opening. He has to pay attention not to hit anyone else in the fray, especially the injured Lyssie, but his blade finds one of the hounds. It gives out a yelp, although it remains standing for the moment, gaze fixed on the priest of Fortuna.
OOC:
1 Strain to Tronus for the threat.
[ +- ] Initiative Order
OOC:
Nera is up.
Sep 18, 2019 4:43 pm
Nera lets loose another arrow at the dogs harassing Lyssile, and soon to be Nekurr. She accidentally steps on a particularly loud branch during the attack, alerting the dogs to her position. uh-oh.
OOC:
For some reason this roll doesn't feel right, hmm.

Forgot I have a free maneuver, I am aiming.

One advantage, one boost to the next person.

You mean range or firing into Melee?
Sep 18, 2019 5:46 pm
OOC:
Yeah, when firing into melee, the difficulty is automatically upgraded. Can you re-roll that purple as a red, Somebox?
Sep 18, 2019 5:55 pm
OOC:
My subconscious was right. Welp Tronus is A-OK!

Rolls

Tronus is now in danger

2 Threat

Total: 2 Threat

Sep 18, 2019 6:11 pm
OOC:
Adds up to 5 success, 1 threat. 12 damage to the dogs by Lyssie. 1 threat = 1 strain to Nera.
If she's addled by the chaos in the middle of the clearing, Nera doesn't show it. She focuses intently on the bodies--friends and enemies alike--and launches three arrows one after the other. Each arrow finds its mark, and with her bowstring still humming, the Catfolk sees two more hounds dead and a third with a shaft poking out of its shoulder.

A rustling sound announces the arrival of Thornil, who pushes his way through the underbrush to join the fray.

OOC:
2 PCs are up.

Tronus hacks into the dogs dog still close to him, "Get Barvek out the Haze!" he barks between slashes trying to take out what's closest to him first before trying to help others.
OOC:
Boost to next friendly with the advantage.
OOC:
GM edit: Only one dog remaining by Barvek, Nekurr, Tronus, Gallen, and Lyssie. Two dogs over by the tree.

With its pack mates dead around it, the dog is on high alert and evades Tronus's swing.

OOC:
Nothing to adjudicate, so another PC can go. Boost from Tronus.
Sep 19, 2019 2:20 am
The sight of Lyssie going down shocks Barvek. Upon hearing the news that she's alright, a smile touches his features. "Why is it always like this Tronus? You get in the middle of a fight and I can't understand you at all." Barvek pulls his shield off his back and attacks the nearest dogs.
OOC:
Boost from Tronus, setback from fear, extra green from augment
As Nekur concentrates on the spell, Barvek feels a resurgence of energy. He can clearly see the fight is near its end.
OOC:
Using advantage to recover strain. 8 + 2 = 10 damage from Barvek.

Rolls

Sword attack on Dogs

2 Success, 4 Advantage, 1 Threat

Total: 2 Success, 3 Advantage

Sep 19, 2019 3:48 pm
Barvek sees the demented dog fall to his blade. At last, Lyssie and Nekurr have a brief reprieve.

Although she's come to, Lyssie looks like she's on the brink of death. Gallen rushes to her side, drops his axe, and helps her to her feet. "Thornil, come help!" he cries. The burly man complies, going to the other side of Lyssie and helping her stand. With their help, Lyssie hobbles toward the edge of the clearing, where her brothers help pull her into the thicker underbrush, placing themselves between themselves and the remaining dogs.

A mundane dog might run away at seeing seven of its pack mates stabbed, bludgeoned, or speared, but the two animals by the tree seem more resolute than ever. They spare not even a look for the Ironbound attacking them or their would-be prey, now high in the tree. Instead, they fix their glowing red eyes on Nekurr, now standing in the middle of the clearing. The dogs bound across the grass at the Half-Catfolk, fangs out and claws raking as they tear into him.
OOC:
That's 8 damage to Nekurr, -3 for Soak = 5 Wounds.

OOC:
Final 3 PCs are up!

Rolls

Brawl (with Story Point)

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 2 Success

Sep 19, 2019 4:59 pm
OOC:
I will hold off on attacking until I see what Nekurr does.
Sep 19, 2019 5:16 pm
Nekurr quickly tries to protect himself from the vicious creatures by grabbing his dagger but only managing to wave it weakly. He then move backwards, trying to defend himself the bloodlust creatures.
OOC:
grab dagger, attack and defensive stance (setback for the dogs). Can I use the advantage to improve the dodge action and impose another setback? If not, i’ll recover much needed strain

OOC:
It looks like you're good: 1 maneuver to draw the dagger, action to attack, free (Catfolk) maneuver to disengage, 2 advantage to give the targeted character a setback on their check.

Nera and Hildar are up! Nera doesn't need to upgrade her attack this time, since the dogs were only engaged with Nekurr, who moved away.
Sep 19, 2019 8:51 pm
Waiting a second longer for Nekurr to escape from the dogs and the crossfire Nera sends more arrows streaking at the hounds, sinking into their flesh.
OOC:
Aiming, in the chance I have the ranges confused you can add another die Savagebob, as I have to work. Lets give these dogs a setback so they can stop hurting us.

Nera's arrows find both hounds. One of them stops in its tracks, apparently felled, while the second stumbles but keeps its attack on Nekurr.

OOC:
Let's see if Hildar's Ironbound can finish the fight!
Sep 20, 2019 11:22 am
Hildar keeps pushing the same command to the Ironbound to keep attacking the dogs
OOC:
8 damage with Pierce 3 and will use the Advantages to Crit from Ironbound 1
10 damage with Pierce 3 from Ironbound 2

Rolls

Ironbound 1 (boosted)

3 Success, 4 Advantage, 2 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 3 Advantage

Ironbound 2

4 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 3 Success

Crit roll if needed - (1d100)

(32) = 32

Sep 20, 2019 1:09 pm
OOC:
That wipes them out!
The Ironbound easily overwhelm the lone remaining dog, lancing it through. Strangely, until the very end, the beast remains fixated on Nekurr, never showing any sign of fear or sense of self-preservation.

Once the clanking of the Ironbound's armor stops, their attack executed, the clearing is once again quiet.
OOC:
Everyone should make a strain recovery roll: Just Discipline or Cool with no difficulty dice (and Barvek is free of his fear effects now). You regain one Strain for every Success. Advantages are ignored.
